I head over to @RockHound Quest 's house to cut and polish a few finds from the Oregon coast.
My homemade lapidary machine has no problem getting the job done running at 10% capacity...

I like your setup you have! Nicely done too. I love cutting and polishing, revealing the mystery inside. These are sweet pieces too, love the variety, colors, patterns, what a nice polish! Your exit at the end was cool, walking away!

Thanks, this was an impromptu shop RHQ and I do on occasions. My shop/studio is still being worked on so I like to bring my wheels over there and chill w/ a friend.
Looking forward to having the shop done soon so we can get to work making some awesome stuff for everyone.
Cheers City! and keep up the good work

Im really interested to see if that truly is bowenite. It sure looks like it. Its a nice chunk too! Awesome work Andrew! And Quest! Thanks for sharing.

This was great! New to rockhounding (6 months in) and still looking for equipment for this part of the process. Love the setup! Finish products were gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

      Welcome to the club^^
Older equipment is generally preferred and DIY designs can be found online. If you're looking for a solid company, Covington tools are great and they have awesome customer service.
Let me know if I can help you!

Nice mix of material there. I also got some good ideas to finish an old flat lap. I didn't realize they sold those Velcro pads in 8".

Very cool to see what the beach rocks wound up looking like. Headed out to one of your beach spots next week and now I have a better idea of what to pick up.

Man, this is so cool watching you guys have fun cutting all that great variety of material!!! I just love rocks and geology and to see you guys cut and polish those beauties 😊 All so interesting, every one of them. Had no favorites this time. Just a great time watching the videe. Also, I appreciate the tips, me still being an amateur. That rhyolite with the pictures...is that like wonderstone? Thanks for sharing your fantastic video, Andrew. Appreciate all your work, bud. 😊✌

Glad you enjoyed it bro! I'm no lapidary pro yet man, but maybe one day eh ^^
As for the rhyolite, IDK bro. I have some "wonderstone" from Utah or wherever and the quality is just better. Color, patterns, you name it. This stuff is really cool too but the colors are more yellow/orange and there are tons of cavities to deal with on larger pieces. The small ones turn out great! There are tiny little quartz crystals that almost look like stars (to the right person). I think it's cool material and isn't that what really counts?
Anyway buddy, thanks for all your support and hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
      Cheers man

That rhyolite is stunning, looks like a scene from Sedona, hills and brush through a cave. I have two people in mind I’d love to buy some for. But that particular scene. Got any to sell? 😬 The Graveyard Point stuff is tdf. I have a collection of pink rocks that quartzy stuff would go perfectly in. 🤭

I could prolly just give you some ^^
Thats usually what I do w/ 99% of what I find.
I have a few pieces of the rhyolite that will be next lvl, Perfect for cabs. Hit me up on IG and we can figure something oot

Do you sell any of your rocks. Or make jewelry? I know it's possible but what do you do with all the rocks.

    • @TheRogueRockhound
      @TheRogueRockhound  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I don't sell anything unless someone insists. Most of what I process, I give away to friends, family, and supporters.
I bet Christmas will be good this year ^^
