    Chalcedony, Jasper, common opal and calcite are all commonly found together in vein structures. Great finds, I love that beach. So beautiful. 🏆✌️

    Areas where the cliff has landslided a bit is a great place to look..always be aware of your surroundings especially the tide!

    Hunt the beach closet to downtown Port Orford. Agates every day. In Bandon, the sand dollars wash up.

      Well, first off (agates found on Oregon shores cannot be sold commercially), they are for personal use only. Secondly, agates 'can be' worth money depending on many different factors. To most people agate hunting they are never planning on selling them, but ornamental pieces to craft with or be on home display with.

    I have been looking for agates for 53 years now. Agates are getting smaller and smaller and harder to find. I have buckets of them but thinking about taking them back. It's really pointless to keep them to be honest. You never look at them after getting them home. Even in a jar it's not that great.

    • @OregonCoastAgates
      @OregonCoastAgates 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      53 year agate collection! I would LOVE to see what treasures you have in there. I'm curious too, have you tried polishing any? or crafting with any? Thats what we do with many of ours.

    Never told us how to find agates. Just where.

    • @OregonCoastAgates
      @OregonCoastAgates ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Really? You didn't pick up on how to look down at the ground where rocks are normally? I explained where to start off looking when you get to a beach, what some typical finds are, how to know if they are an agate vs jasper, and some of the general do's and don'ts. Whats missing? I mean you do realize finding agates are about chance right? It's not a given thing always, you have to HUNT for them.

    What would be really cool is if stuff Luke this was not out in public so us locals can enjoy our hobby. Without beein suffocated by tourists.

    • @OregonCoastAgates
      @OregonCoastAgates ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do realize that you can be local and a tourist at the same time right? Nothing said here is/was a secret, and the coastline is all public, so don't get it twisted. Do you hate crabbing or fishing video's because you're not catching the same about of crab or fish? This was meant to promote a family friendly recreation that anyone and everyone has the right to enjoy here.
