I’m very sensitive to noise and I didn’t hear the wind chimes…that’s surprising.

You'd want curtains on the bottom room, headlights coming straight into your room everynight. Wakey, wakey, hands off snakey🤣
Yes, that could be something to think about. Once someone moves in upstairs. Would defo need some curtains.

My 2 cent advice... NEVER ever stay with a Lady owner....do it at yr own RISK🤭👎😲

It's a great area.. I know it well.. a 🚲 is definitely the go in that area.. I use mine all the time with panniers... Or grab.. scooter maybe too . .. lovely rooms but, definitely tricky with the landlady living downstairs.. as always vehicles in Thailand are very overpriced.. all the best, cheers.

If this is where I think it is, close to the Lotus and weekend market it's a nice area Wayne. Old town is walkable if you are adventurous, had a condo up there before the pandemic. looks a lot more run down than I remember it though. Not sure I would want to live in someone else's house no matter the situation though.
It’s near Jing Jai market, yes mate. You could walk to city yes, I wouldn’t want to be doing that every day though. Not sure about run down. Cheers

Are the two rentals in the town of Chang Phueak?
Chang Phueak is a district of Chiang Mai. The Northern part of the Old City gate.
No where to cook or wash up, not even a place to make a coffee? Maybe short term, but definitely not long term rental.
Yes, no kitchen in the studio unfortunately. You can cook outside though. Area for coffee would be easy. But yes, not the best if you wanted to cook meals.

3500 baht for that small room with external toilet is to much for Chiang Mai. Government rates for electricity and aircon is a plus. But the average thai worker would probably rent something similar for 2500 baht. Tourist prices.
Nah. I wouldn’t go that far. You could get a dorm style room or old style house. Not a gated property with 24 CCTV, Aircon, private parking and your own private internet router. She wants farangs. It’s easy to find a Thai style room for 2000.

It wouldn't take much to square that corner off on the studio room, so you didn't have to go outside during the night or heavy rain.

Hi Wayne, great video. I remember you made a video about how you transfer money over using Wise or something similar. May I ask how that would work? In the sense that I am currently in the UK and obviously for me to put money into my Wise account, I have to transfer from my bank account to Wise account but obviously, the bank sends me the code by text to double-check things are legit, so how do you get around this if you are in Thailand? how do you receive texts from the bank or any other institutions that need to send a confirmation text? I have been wrapping my head around that idea.....thank you for any advice.
Hi mate, I never get a security message when transferring to wise. In all my years here, I never have. I think anything under £1000 is ok. Big amounts will need more security questions. What I done for security text is, I still have my UK SIM card with me, in another phone. All I need to do is send a message on my UK sim every 6 months to keep it alive. Most UK sims can be kept alive while abroad, you just need to send a text. That's what I do mate. I've had my UK sim active for the last 5 years in Thailand.

For $75-90 a month, great bargain! When I think what I pay for my house in the UK! Can't wait to get to Thailand in the future and enjoy the price differences plus the lifestyle, the weather etc etc.
Yes, it's still super cheap in Thailand. This place would be crazy expensive back home.

Thanks! Yes, you can cook outside or even make an area inside. The free strong wifi is a big bonus. Great place for someone.
The last scene looks very familiar. I remember the laundry shop. Because I went in there last year.
Don't really need a bicycle. That small main road is too narrow for a bicycle anyway. I walked from a nearby place to thanin market and back every noon, for about 2 weeks continuously. Perfectly walkable.
Yes, easy to get around the area but would need something to get into the city, or could get a songthaew. Yep, Thanin isn't to far away.

Definitely "unique" accomodation. Good prices for anyone on a budget and dont mind living in close quarters with someone else. Not for me though, but cant argue with the price.

The studio would be a great home base for 6 Months out of the year while traveling thailand the other 6 1200 hundred A year US Great video.

The studio is quite nice. I actually prefer the separated bathroom - any odor after number two stays outside, and helps to keep down the humidity a bit, after taking a shower (both are always a problem in a studio space). I would probably ask to add a mozzie screen door (and screens for the windows, if they are not there already), so that the door & window can be left open for a possible cross breeze, to keep AC usage down.
I wonder if you can buy fresh milk, from that place across the street? That would be a plus.
The no smoking & no drunks rules are good, too, esp. with the landlord close at hand to make sure they are actually enforced. Ofc, if you are the one likely to be causing the problems & breaking the rules, maybe not the place for you. :)

I lived with a retired American woman, shared townhouse, while I was there in Chiang Mai. I loved my upstairs set up. Yeah, I had to walk into 'her living space' but then I had the entire upstairs including a giant covered patio and it worked out just fine. I'd do it again, maybe. My rent was more like $230 a month though I think.

The 3500 baht room is enough for anyone that what do me plus it’s a safe place to live

Lots of rent options they did a head count before 2020 c19 there was 40 million people coming to Thailand 12 months they did headcount now its down to 11 million for 12 months
Yes, lot's of rental places available now. That's a big drop if that's correct.
that 2br is huge and is a deal even at 15,000 for the right couple who wants to live in that area.

The ideal winter getaway on a budget. Can live very well on very little compaired to Europe.

Beautiful 2 bedroom, and thinking of having all that for as little as 10-12K Baht is so incredibly reasonable, especially considering it's all brand spanking new. I do think someone got the blueprint mixed up and stuck a urinal in the shower. 🤣
haha that toilet made me laugh. I'm not sure what the thinking was with that. If someone cold get it for around 10, it would be an awesome place. Everything was virtually new. Cheers mate.
