Wins are a team stat
If Lamar brings them down to the 1 yard line for 1st and goal, and the running back runs in for a TD . Lamar is responsible for that TD ..and that happen over 20 times ..do thay know the Ravens have over 25 rushing TD's that Lamar but them in position to get .oh because he didn't throw the TD it doesn't count.. is that what they saying?? Because I always thought it was about putting your team in a position to win..and right now Lamar has been the best at that .

Lamar leads the Ravens down the field so many times just to give Gus Edwards a 1 yard TD run. Sherman's entire argument is basically that Lamar needs to run or pass those 1 yard TDs in himself to be the MVP, and that is just laughable to me. Lamar is not a stat padding QB, Lamar is a WINNER and has no problem handing off 1 yard TDs to someone like Gus Edwards who they call the Bus for a reason....thats the main reason Lamar's TD totals aren't as high as other QBs in the league atm...but his yards from passing and rushing combined are right up there with the best and he barely turns the ball over...Sherman is trying to argue the MVP from a black and white standpoint by only looking at statistics....Peyton Manning won an MVP when he had 49 TDs one year, Peyton also won an MVP another year when he only had 27 TDs...its not just about Touchdown statistics Sherm.....watch the game and you can see what an MVP is...

Sherman's argument for Lamar not being MVP is Lamar has not accounted for over 70% of TDs for the offense....This is a disingenous stat. If a QB throws 99 yards every drive and the RB run it 1 yard for the TD. Who does the most work to get the TD at the end? By Sherman logic, the QB in that situation would be trash and the RB would be MVP but that isn't the case in my opinion

Richard has a good point in saying that, while Lamar played great, most of the credit for Monday night's win goes to the defense. With that being said, going purely based on "percentage of TDs scored by the QB" is a pretty small brain perspective; it doesn't account for all the things Lamar is indirectly responsible for. If Edwards is able to run for a touchdown at the 3 yard line because the defense can't just key in on the RB in case Lamar takes it, Lamar isn't credited with the touchdown but his skillset and what he does allows for it to happen.
This is why you typically see RBs have a lot of success on teams with running QBs, because the additional threat of the QB's ability to run helps it.
Me being a niners fan Purdy played really bad but both QBs got delt with pressure. Both QB got sacked and did make mistakes Purdy did a lot more mistakes but lamar did also. Thats why I think MVP shouldn't go to either QBs

We need to go back and take away Marshal Faulk MVP award in 2000 and give it to Ravens QB Trent Dilfer, Ravens were 12-4 and won super bowl that year so obviously Dilfer was the reason.
MVP voting is mainly about 3 things combined : team record, stats, and human element (perception, story lines, eye test etc.)
Lamar leads in 2 of these 3 categories, team record by a game and human element as he played one of his best games against the “best” team and was by far the best player on the field while purdy played his worst game against the “second best” team. Voters can’t unsee that game. Cmac killed it but wasn’t better than Lamar yesterday either

The MVP isn't about box score numbers. It is about the player that is the best player on the field week in and week out. The player that is the very reason a team wins the majority of their games. The player you could put on any team and he be a difference maker.
That said. Lamar is that guy. CMC is that guy. Tyrek Hill is that guy. Josh Allen... there is a good argument for him, but there are a few other QBs that can do exactly what he does in his scheme.
Purdy should have never been in the conversation in the first place.
It's CMC if we're gonna say Lamar doesn't have the numbers.
This has been my argument all season, no QB has a legit MVP season like Manning, Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady types they are in the 45-50 TD range. That's why it's been so up in the air to begin with.
Purdy stats are all front running stats where everything is going perfect for SF and they're up by multiple possessions.
Purdy Has The Most Weapons. His Yards Are Mainly From Quick Passes & Long Runs.

Seen the ravens win with Tyler Huntley at QB and if it wasn't for a fluke fumble at the end of the game thats returned for a TD when the Ravens had the game pretty much in hand against the Bengals they would''ve won a playoff game without lamar.

@@youngboul2284 McNair had 3400 total yards with 4 rushing TDs which is a total 28 total touchdowns and he only played 14 games for your information. Which is 1 LESS than Lamar has played already.
Manning also had 28 total TDs and 4K yards, he finished 5th in yards and touchdowns but everyone ahead of him was on a .500 or worse team.
Mind you these are the worst statistical years for MVPs in the last 25 years. I’m not making a case for or against Lamar. I would actually benefit greatly financially if he wins MVP and more so a Super Bowl. I am simply saying that Sherman is using historical logic, not emotional bias.
