    I believe it. When I went to visit my (now) wife for the first time the first thing I noticed was in their kitchen were her fish tanks. One was a 20 gallon high that had two enormous hand sized comet goldfish, the other was a 29 breeder with two glow fish...and a full grown pleco. It would up to a 45 degree angle to turn around and that’s all it could do, craziest thing I’d ever seen.
    Everything was clean, the fish were all healthy. She bought a few cute fish from the pet store and she took the best care of them she could. That was one of the things that really impressed me about her, she didn’t know she signed up for a 14 inch fish but she didn’t give up and cared for and loved that thing as best she could.
    I used it as an opportunity to be a hero for her family but rehoming everything to proper places. Haha that made for an interesting week.

    Did you get to deduct all fish losses?
    Or was it like when I had a 100 beehives die I could only deduct cost of queens and supplies not the value of hives.
    100 queens =$1500 instead of
    100 hives = $15,000

    • @goliadfarms7029
      @goliadfarms7029  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, since they weren't purchased fish, we couldn't deduct the losses. Interestingly enough, if the fish had been bait fish, Texas would have covered some of losses. Only bait fish, not ornamentals or food fish, were covered.
      Do you raise your own queens or buy them? According at our CPA, your swarms like fish we raised can't be deducted because you already had labor costs, etc. in raising them. You could deduct queens, if purchased, however. None of our losses were fish we had bought; all were raised here.

      @@goliadfarms7029 that is wonderful, where i live water temps are enough to sustain whiteclouds and paradise fish, as long as provided proper environment of course, although cold snaps may kill many in winter (im sure you know all about that), so most people bring them inside. i actually love the idea of breeding fish to be able to survive in suboptimal conditions, such as rams in hard ~8 ph for example. although that has more or less been accomplished already. but considering the fact that we as humans managed to breed dogs into such a wide verity of shapes im sure a German blue ram that can handle living at 75f rather than 80f+ is possible.

      @@goliadfarms7029 paradise fish are wonderful, i prefer them over bettas in many cases, i do have some mollies as well i actually keep them in an aquarium with ph 7.5, but the water is hard and they breed plenty so i will not risk upping the ph. high ph and hardness is hard for me to maintain since my water is very soft but i have had success with mollies despite that(i use crushed coral). i mostly keep south American and Asian fish that like soft water since its easiest, but i would love to experiment with hard water. of course i dont have the space at the moment to have more than a few aquariums.
