  • Hello guys in this beautiful day🫡
    First I will share how you can reach me if you want me as your guide for your trip to Portugal🇵🇹
    You can always write me here in comments, on my Instagram: millionplacesoneworld and my e-mail: millionplacesoneworld@gmail.com 👌

    So today I'm visiting Bombarral, really enjoyed my time here🤎💯
    Little fact dose about place:
    Bombarral is a charming village/town located in the district of Leiria, Portugal, with a population of around 4,400 inhabitants. As a municipality, it covers an area of 91.29 km² and is home to 12,750 people (as of 2021), subdivided into 4 parishes.
    Located in a fertile plain bordered by low hills, Bombarral's economy thrives on small-scale agriculture, particularly known for its wine, pears, and vegetables.
    The town is part of the heart of the Western region of Portugal, 75 kilometers from Lisbon and 20 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, with the A8 motorway as its main route.
    Nearby towns include Óbidos, Caldas da Rainha, Peniche, Cadaval, and Lourinhã, all adding to the region's charm.
    I did not visit it, but the Bombarral Municipal Museum offers insights into the area's rich history. The Bombarral Municipal Forest, located behind the City Hall, hosts the annual Portuguese Wine Festival and the National Pêra Rocha Fair, showcasing the best of Bombarral's offerings.
    Don't miss Jardim da Paz - Buddha Éden in the parish of Carvalhal or the various walking trails that let you enjoy the rural landscape of Bombarral.
    For those interested in real estate, the average buying price is around 1600 EUR per square meter. Long-term rentals are rare, with only a few properties listed on Idealista, averaging about 6 EUR per square meter.
    Visit Bombarral and experience the tranquility and beauty of one of Portugal's most serene towns.
    Stay Tuned and I see you next time!
    Tchau!😁

      Did you find the process streamlined since the changeover of agencies or still kind of chaotic? I'm in the states and was set to apply when they changed the tax break at the end of 2023. Did you do get research on any tax breaks till avail - I'm finding different things. From what I found, I'm looking at a 35% tax on my early social sec vs the old 10% for seven years. But I so love it there and want to leave the crazy U.S. My freelance writing doesn't qualify for the remote work visa either. Any insights would be much appreciated Robert & Leanne. Take care! Aren't Andrew's videos the best? Love them.

    Bombarral is a cute place to visit. I live nearby (7 km away) in a freguesia belonging to Lourinhã. The silver coast is very peaceful.
    Lisbon is not too far away when missing a big city vibe. 🎉

      What is cool about this area is that all my favorite places are near each other: Torres Vedras, Lourinhã, Peniche, etc. 🙂

    Fantastic video! Loved it and I especially loved the way you filmed in the igreja. ⛪️. I’m not Catholic but the churches in Portugal are magnificent (compared to home). Too bad about your visit to Buddha Eden, but you can go back another time. Your family might like it! Obrigada Amigo!

      Hey, Jen! 🫡 Yes, that's the plan - revisit with my girls and take the train, so we don't need to walk all 35 hectares of the garden 😄😄😄
      This church was really special, just like Bombarral. It's a strange feeling since it's not the most beautiful town in terms of architecture, but the vibe was excellent.
      Thank you for your comment 🙂👍

    Loved the Buddha garden. Seemed like you were in Thailand. I'm going to look up the history as I'm very curious. Possibly an explorer who commissioned it? I bet there are wonderful wineries in the area too- going to look up wine stays too...as it's close to the forest town you visited, I think it was Cadahal --which seemed from another time. I really like your explorations away from tourist things. Obrigada again!
    Now I'm torn....do I stay on Silver Coast in the fall and visit some of the places I haven't seen - Like Sao Martinho do Porto, Nazare, Foz do Arelho, Lourinha etc (but harder to get to places if you don't have a car and I love NOT driving while in Europe - lol.) Or do I stick with the plan and go to the Algarve (Tavira area) for the first time. Fast train from Porto to Faro is only around 5 1/2 hrs and I love the train travel....very relaxing.
    Hey, what about (you had mentioned it) doing a video of a train trip from Lisbon to Tavira then further east to just on the Spanish border....(everyone who visits seems to love the small town on the river across from Spain - Villa Real de Santo Antonio?) Plenty of time to figure it out....but definitely flying into Porto this time so I don't miss it again. Bom Dia ( it's still morning here) Take care!

      Hey 🖐
      Buddha Garden just like you mentioned felt like you are in Asia not Portugal. I just looked up some info about it :
      The Buddha Eden Garden, located in Bombarral, Portugal, was created as a response to the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan in 2001. This event, where two giant Buddha statues were destroyed by the Taliban, deeply affected José Berardo, a Portuguese businessman and art collector. In an effort to make a positive gesture and preserve cultural heritage, Berardo decided to create a space that celebrates peace and cultural diversity.
      So it looks like it's privately owned and made 👌
      Well about your plans, if that would be my choice I would always choose Silver Coast 😁 But I think everybody knows that. BUT Tavira is also very good place to be.
      About train trip, I will return to Algarve when season will be lower, because now it will be pretty busy. Now in summer, I will hang more on Silver Coast, Central and Northern Portugal. Maybe my upcoming videos from these locations will make your planning easier 🫡
      Thank you for your comment and see you around 🇵🇹

    Man, I appreciate your video, I'm in Bombarral, but one thing I'm not so happy it's the way you show Bombarral, we are not a ghost town, you showed it like a ghost town.
    Yes, that's a very good place, close to Lisbon, to the beaches, to the Serra de Montejunto, Óbidos.
    If you have friends interested in buy houses in the area, just send them to me, I'm a Real Estate Agent and I know Bombarral for more than 50 years

      @FernandoHermano Hey, I noted that you are an agent👍 I'll remember that if anybody asks.
      About Bombarral - I didn't mean to make Bombarral look like a ghost town. It's not like that👌 It was calm because I was there on a workday🫡 But I cannot put people on streets when filming, if you know what I mean😁
      Anyway, I loved the town and thank you for your comment🇵🇹

    Love your vids. Very curious about the Silver Coast area that aren't quite on the coast. What do you think about this area as a place to live for an English-only speaking ex pat? Would I be comfortable there? What's the weather like? Coastal influence or much hotter/colder?

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hey, thank you 👍
      If you are looking for real, authentic Portugal, then Bombarral is a great option🇵🇹 When it comes to weather, it will be okay, since it is not so far from ocean, but still off coast, I would even say it will be perfect 👌 When I was in Bombarral, most of the people spoke Portuguese with me, not so much English if compared to Lisbon or Cascais. But couple of years and you will learn basic Portuguese for sure. And property in Bombarral is relatively affordable, so that is good 👍 I hope my answer helps, if anything else, please ask 🫡

    What’s going on? Is it peniche or lourinha? Where you moving to? I only follow to see where you end up bug I feel you are in the uk English language “milking it”

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      😅 No, I'm not in the UK. I've only been there once, in the airport. As I mentioned in the Looking for Hometown videos, we're moving in 2025, next year. For now, I think Peniche is more suitable. But there are still places to see here, so I can't say for sure. Not milking anything 😁😁😁

    • @brogamelegends
      @brogamelegends 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@millionplacesoneworld I think you misunderstood, what I said is a uk term “milking it” means you dragging things on. I liked your content but it seems your dragging it on. I followed you to get your honest opinion about where to live in Portugal but it seems your there already and making up video’s of where to live. Where do you live right now?

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @brogamelegends Sorry for the confusion🫡 Let me explain: I've been living in Portugal for almost three years, in Cascais (it's a place in the Lisbon district if you didn't know that). And yes, we're looking for a new town or city to move to in Portugal. BUT the "Looking for a hometown" videos are only a small part of my channel. I'm going everywhere, and my goal is to show every municipality in Portugal. The places where I plan to move (rent/buy/build) start with "Looking for a hometown." And just like I said in my previous comment, that will be revealed next year. If you want my thoughts about each place, they're in the videos, and I always try to answer all questions from my viewers if there's something specific. I hope I've made things clearer👌

    • @brogamelegends
      @brogamelegends 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@millionplacesoneworld no problem, thanks for clarifying, it’s just when I started watching your videos a few months ago I thought you would have narrowed it down by now but then your doing videos on random towns. Anyway, respect to you, your videos are great I’m just secretly wanting you to say Peniche is where your moving to but guess I’ll have to wait 👍

    • @millionplacesoneworld
      @millionplacesoneworld  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2
