Every three months when they release a new league, they release a couple of videos introducing the new mechanic. They give you the basics and then let the community figure out the details. If you had watched these you would have understood the map juicing aspect from the beginning. Make sure you tune in for the league announcement event next time and you will be fine.
Yeah, this is one of the aspects I love about PoE. Because it doesn't hold your hand, it lets the players discover the details for themselves, and usually to really get the full picture, it takes a community effort.
you missed the easter egg that is hallowed ground: Maker of Mires - Mike Myers, Jik'shaah - jigsaw, Jaesyn - Jason, Kruug the Frayed - Freddy Kreuger. plus the music on the map is baller.
I have 2k+ hours in PoE and never thought about it. just been wondering "why do they call it that?". Thank u. U opened my eyes and everything makes sense now. XD
They don't add stashes to current league mechanics. They only add them if they decide to make the mechanic permanent, otherwise they'd be selling you something that would be worthless if the mechanic was not carried over permanently.
Yep. And generally, you also don't find any atlas passives relating to the current league mechanic. Those are meant to allow you to interact with older mechanics, whereas you're more or less expected to constantly interact with the current one regardless. This one in particular is insane. The most game warping mechanic since Harvest imo. Hopefully, they haven't shot themselves in the foot with it.
They've also stated since Heist League that if you need a stash for a league mechanic they will be making them for free now. That's why Heist/Expedition/Sanctum/etc. stash tabs are free for everyone. (I think ever since that they also do release said stash tabs during the same league)*
Blue Wisps -> Reward: Chance to Drop Additional Currency Items Purple Wisps -> Reward: More Item Rarity Yellow Wisps -> Reward: More Item Quantity More wisps you have the better the loot drop from killing monsters on that map
@@NyxVellum If you hover over the icons of the wisps in the bottom right it should show in tooltip what they do. Every type also has some increases to monster damage or defense
your series made me finally complete poe campaign once an for all. i quit it 2-3 times midway before. Never tried a build just went with my own style and made it. now im gonna copy a build and try mapping. good content keep it up
unless you've accumulated a good amount of currency during the campaign you're going to have trouble switching builds now, might be better to start a new character
You can go to your personal hideout by clicking on the wp and at the bottom right will have an icon for your hideout or can type /hideout in chat and it will port you from town to your hideout. From there you can customize your hideout
The three NPCs you can find inside the Wildwood are each associated with a colour of wisps; the Primal Huntress is associated with blue wisps, the Warden of the Maji with yellow wisps, and the Breaker of Oaths (whom you haven't met in this video) with purple. You're currently a Wildwood Primalist, so if you want to do your two quests for her (kill 500 nameless enemies and kill the Black Morrigan), you'll want to prioritize following blue trails while in the Wildwood. (Nameless enemies may be found randomly in the Wildwood, but some blue events will have much more of them.) If you plan to stay Primalist, you should do these quests. The "Collect 4000 yellow wisps" was a quest you picked up while you briefly went with Warden of the Maji; I'm not sure if you get credit towards that after you swapped back to Primalist. If you plan on staying Primalist, there's no reason to worry about this quest, as the reward only helps if you're Warden.
@@NyxVellumHey Nyx, there's a map device in your hideout and you can invite all your crew (Kirac, Niko, Cassia, etc.) there. This way you can setup your hideout in the most practical way to avoid losing boring seconds going from your stash to the map device in Kirac's war room. It's not that much of a big qol improvement, but on the long run it makes the whole mapping experience flow much better.
There's one major thing that regular players do that new players don't and it help a ton to understant things in PoE : we watch the league reveal video/stream. They always quickly explain the new seasonnal mechanic just to give us an idea of what to do in it. We just have to figure out how to fully play with it.
Yeah good point, didn't even consider that. We do don't we, it would be a bit more confusing without that. I mean most players do the league mechanic whilst progressing through the acts 1 to 10 which gives us a good understanding by that point usually of how it works, just by doing it most zones. So theres also that.
the current league mechanic will always spawn in zones near ur lvl and always spawn in maps, later when they get added in the game in some way or form then they might get added to the atlas passive tree and scarabs of their nature to help u spawn them, otherwise they usually have a much smaller chance to proc naturally in ur maps but since this is the affliction league, ull always find it in maps, when all these other mechanics had their leagues, they were in every zone and every map so u can imagine how some of them were kinda crazy something to keep in mind is that kirac missions can help u greatly finish the atlas, especially unique maps which are hard to find but kirac missions and unique maps in general dont get affected by the atlas tree new player onboarding was one of their weak points for sure and they admit that, thats why in poe2 they are focusing greatly on that, which might sound crazy but it would be cool if u make some vids checking out some poe2 stuff which the beta is kinda around the corner(June this year) last point, didnt u wonder wat happened to all the hideouts u discovered in the campaign? type /hideout in the chat to find out :D
Reading for the win... if you get the Wisps, it empowers Mobs in your map. The Mobs that feel like they never die, those are most likely empowered, which you can see by, once again, reading what's under their Health bar. Depending on the color, they either have a chance to drop additional currency items, more rarity, more quantity, or all of it. So if you power up your map, than leave because you killed the boss, but ignore the other 400 mobs... you don't need to bother doing it in the first place ^^*
I still don't understand why every one seem so damn allergic to basic reading, and then complaining they don't understand something, it happens in every damn game, and I'm starting to believe some people would have been darwined out to natural causes, but society is so padded that they can't any more (even though ppl still manage even with how padded western society is)
I think it's okay to not want to look up guides, this is how I play myself too. but you should consider watching the "league reveal" trailer next time, it's probably not even too late. Every single person that logs into PoE day 1 on a fresh start will watch it to see what's being introduced to the game. It helps with setting vague expectations, and provides a detailed introduction to what the mechanic is, and what it's there for.
I'm only watching this as Necropolis comes to end. I'm casual. Your advice is on point. The best thing I did was watch Raxxantrax PoE guide for beginners by a Beginner. Still learning, still loving it.
You can farm Wildwood in general by going to Act 10 Reliquary (highest easily resettable campaign map). There you can do the 2 first quests of each NPC if you want and reset the map at no cost. To reset the map: Ctrl+Click the waypoint destination to the map. It will open a menu allowing you to create a new instance of the map, as well as visit previous ones.
Just blasting maps for the first time is truly a joy, exploring 10 years of old league content. Really jealous you get to experience it for the first time!!
Always pick up the jewels and ID them, if you get a lucky combination it can be huge for your build or price if you sell. Also, you can use currency on the different chests on the ground to upgrade them from basic to blue or yellow.
These videos are great to watch and just go to show how much the game has to learn and how little they tend to explain most things. Its definitely a fascinating game in general. Random example, I saw someone mention a site called wealthy exile in global chat and went to look at it myself, found an entire rabbit hole where you can bulk sell items easily, the site can access your in game stash and add up all the value you currently have and help you sell items on the trade sites too. This game is the definition of the "ooh a piece of candy" trail, but somehow one trail leads you to the new york stock exchange while another leads you to some random board game style mechanic. I look forward to seeing where PoE goes from here and trying PoE2 when it drops. Also keep up the great entertaining videos Nyx!
Love the video. I am so happy that you are having fun. I have come to bring you knowledge. So what you are calling seasonal content is a bit of a misnomer. Affliction is the current seasonal content, and all other mechanics are past seasons that have become part of the core game. -Note that not all past seasons have become permanent parts of the game. Because it is the current season mechanic, Affliction is 100% guaranteed on all campaign maps (unless you are 11lvs+ over the area level) and all endgame maps.... unlike the other mechanics that are only a chance to appear. The wisp trail in the wildwood doesn't empower the creatures down there, as some are already empowered. However, when you come back out of the wildwood all your wisps will empower random enemies throughout the map... this includes the boss. The strength of empowerment is as you figured out based on the number of that color that you collect. Note, that when the wisp picks their targets to empower they can be empowered by more than one type of wisp and get both bonuses to stats and loot. I think there was more I was going to tell you but I've forgotten. I'll just join the discord in case I remember.
Not the most newbie friendly League given how simultaneously dangerous and insanely rewarding it is. New people might get the wrong idea that every League showers as much currency as this one.
The note I didn't see anyone post here is that when in the Wildwood you collect wisps. If you don't spend them in the WW at the vendors, when you pop out in the map, those wisps "juice" the monsters in the map. So, that is where your wisps go when you leave the Wildwoods.
Great video! One tip, you've chosen the backpack lady ascendancy to progress her quest line it's best to follow the blue wisps trails. You are right GGG is terrible at in-game explanation of mechanics. They expect nearly everyone to watch the league reveal announcement that happens a bit before league launch. They go into detail about the new league and have a Q&A. GGG has said we are unlikely to get another big league that adds huge side content like Delve or Heist until after PoE2 launches as their environmental artists are tied up. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, it's very wholesome and I'm enjoying it!
Okay, with only around 1 month left in Affliction league, I really really hope you will the announcement stream! There they explain the new league mechanic and it is a hyped event for everyone, because we know that there will be something exciting! That stream contains more information than the help panel, which... I think... was last updated 6 years ago or so?
OK MapProgression: White maps - must be Blue Yellow maps - must be yellow Red maps - must be yellow and corrupted for the atlas point you also want all map points so you can specialize into specific Content you like.So u can earn Currency and buy cool shit to destroy even harder. also pls start Mapping from your hideout noone chills in the Kiraq loser cave xD (you can custimize it so you dont have to walk the stairs every time) Affliction: Is the new Season so the Content is in every map and every area of the story hope that will help a bit
Nice video ! Like I said during the stream, following a certain color will always lead to the event linked to the corresponding NPC. And that same color can be followed to find the npc in question: - Yellow => Warden - Purple => Breaker of oath - Blue => Huntress The only exception is the last event in the questline : the king in the mist stronghold, no wisp lead to him. Also, I love frank
Its kinda fun watching someone stubling in the dark. Also entering new map with full inventory is rage inducing. Same as ignoring currency and jewel on the gorund because "I don't need any of this things"
Interesting thing that might blow your mind: Current PoE is NOT "Every single idea that GGG has ever had," though your point was still a good one. But, we have had leagues that haven't gone core and leagues that have been retired. So, there is content that played for a league but was then abandoned, content that played for a league-- was kept on,- and then eventually removed. Metamorph League, "build a boss monster," for instance. Even content that was used for a league, revamped THE ENTIRE GAME, and then was "removed" in a way without removing all of it. There is a lot of stuff for this game 'on the cutting room floor' as it were.
The guides that come from affliction are after some days/week. We all figure out ourselves and share that information. That is part of the fun of a new league, to figure out how it works.
You should have followed the blue wisps. Those are for your Black Morrigan Mission. In the atlas map tree there is an passive which can show you rare or higher enemies on the map this will help you find the Morrigan. It can be rewarding if you know how to collect the wisps. It is interesting content for the POE comunity. So yea have fun. And there are some charms which give you for example imunity for reflected elemental / physical damage so on some builds you would be safe of the reflected monster damage. That fixes a lot of older builds and make it more viable. As for the map device 4 big circles on the top site it makes the map have the encounter of either dvelve, syndicate, temple or einhar. As for the 3 little circles of white, yellow and red it marks the number of uses you can use it on the different map difficulties. White maps 1-5; yellow 6-10; red 10-16. Your mods should have already explained this little info to you.
@Nyx you mentioned that you liked esthetics of how Wildwood is looking. They used some assets from poe 2 in that new mechanic so even right now we are semi testing it on how it will perform
You should definitely put map device in your hideout as that allows you to interact with NPC's more readily as you can allocate them right next to your map device for convenience.
Walking from the stash to the map device in Kirac's room gets annoying pretty quickly indeed 😅 The mapping flows so much when you put one next to the other.
29:42 - You had an Untainted Paradise in the white maps section of Kirac's missions. That's a rare map that only spawns in Kirac's map window. It drops no loot, isn't on the Atlas, and has a very massive EXP multiplier.
In terms of explaining mechanics, GGG's tutorial is part of the announcement streams/videos where they introduce and explain the mechanics. So while external from the game, GGG does have official resource to explain the mechanic.
First, I'm so glad to see that the story continues past the campaign =D Second: I definitely agree with your con, 100%. GGG are sadly not that good at "in-game teaching". However (and this is not me saying they shouldn't be better at it). Personally I feel like information coming from the players rather than the developers, in general, can be easier to consume and explain it in a way that suites me better. Information from developers tend to be either to broad or to "formal" for me at least
The white, yellow and red number represent the number of time you can force spawn a master in your map. The map are separated into three different color. White meaning the starting map, yellow then red wich have the high lvl monster. Example, you put a red map and choose niko to appear. With what you have right now is 2 white and 2 yellow for niko. Meaning you cannot make him appear and will need to use a white or yellow map. You gain mission at random when you finish a map and can put poin in the atlas passive tree in the master you would like to get more.
about cons: They always do a trailer for a new league where they explain core mechanics of the league and possible rewards, so its not like you are completely blind or that they dont provide any informations and rely on 3rd party detailed guides (and they give a tons of ads and countdowns towards those trailers too, to the point you have to work hard towards going into league without knowing how it works or what to expect). Also expectations about the leagues are that you experience those mechanics, story (and connection to the rest of the world) since act 1 when stuff is really easy and forgiving. Explore it as you go and by the time you hit the endgame you already know what you are doing from simply engaging with that mechanics for 10 acts of campaign.
The numbers on the map device for the Masters represent how many times you can use them for that tier of map. The white numbers are for how many times you can use them on white maps, the yellow is for yellow maps, and red for red maps. Since you haven't unlocked red maps yet, they are all still 0. Completing maps gives you a chance to gain a mission. You can also affect your chances with the Atlas tree if you prefer one master over another.
My ADHD brain loves this game: all the random things going on in the maps, logging on to do some mapping, but ending up down some rabbit hole of build tweaking and the dopamine rushes from the drops.
One comment regarding your con: most people would have begun this very early and many of these mechanics (as is with all season mechanics) would be drip fed to you as you level. It is easy to group this mechanic with all the others provided by PoE and it's a fair con to put on any new player trying to understand the past league mechanics but your experience would have been significantly different if you'd played with it through your leveling experience.
You could operate the map device through your hideout by the way. You can decorate your hideout any way you like too. You can also put NPCs you interact with in there for convenience. :)
the way the wisps work is you will ocassionally encounter monsters in the zone after acquiring wisps that have text underneath their health bar that says "___ empowered". You encountered several in this video, like the really tanky boss on the gardens map at 16:25 was "Vivid Empowered" by the 2302 vivid wisps you found, which gave it damage reduction. the wisps don't effect every monster in the map, only certain select monsters. the reason this league is strong is because it just multiplies the loot from certain random monsters in the map, and if you add a bunch of monsters it's just a big "more loot" bonus for the map.
Hello, some tips you may appreciate : - You can see if a map and its atlas bonus were completed by holding `alt` on it - You can launch maps in your hideout's map device, and can custom your personnal hideout :) Keep up!
ggg does explain the mechanic, during league reveal before the league starts, example the affliction league started on dec 8, the league reveal was 1 week before.
Each league comes with reveal videos which explainsmechanics in simple, basic way. You can check other league mechanics this way if You don't want to read guides.
@NyxVellum You should check the official presentation of the league. GGG does it before every league start, so that players know how to use the new mechanics. Also, until they announce a mechanic goes core, there won't be anything on the Atlas passives or special tab... and actual season mechanic will always be present in all maps (and zones in acts), no need to try to "find" or "boost" them...
Instead of using the town map device, you can go to your Hideout from any portal. In there you can have your very own personalized map device that you can put your maps in along with your many stashes and interactable vendors.
Your critic on the barrier of entry is spot on. PoE is a game of constant learning, you are always improving something or figuring out how to do something better, but a seasonal mechanic should be a little more straight forward, one for new players its still more confusing and second its because it may be over sooner than what many people will realize how to exploit. I love this season, specially having a secondary small skill tree. But many mechanics are poorly explained (ex. how to progress wildwood quests).
btw, dominus boss (sinks into the ground and returns as big bug demon thing) That big ritual style circle on the floor you have to stand in so you don't take damage.
FYI, the colored wisps empower the monsters in the map where you got the wisps. Wisp-empowered monsters drop additional/better loot. The goal is to do the Wildwood and then complete the map. Empowered enemies will have a line on their health bar saying which wisp is empowering them but not all the enemies in the map will be empowered in this way.
The WIldwood has no minimap, you feel lost in the woods. That is exactly the feeling they wanted to create. After weeks ppl figured out it is a diamond shape pattern and the edges are events/npcs. But you can spawn inside or outside the diamond and sometimes you can't get many wisps
I personally wouldn't put no hand holding in cons. I enjoy figuring it out myself when a new league comes out, it's enough with the hints that are given to figure it out. After a while you check what the community has found out and together everyone fills in the gaps.
Basically every league released becomes a joint effort for the community to figure out the mechanics and secrets. Guides like the one you read in this video gets created based on that effort because it often is too much to ask for a single person to figure out everything and it is nice to have somewhere to look up things for answers. You _can_ try to explore things yourself and it is often considered part of the new league hype to do so but eventually it boils down to these guides for most players. :) If you think this exploring process is not for you you use the guides. If you love exploring and figuring things out by trial and error you go with doing everything yourself. Everything can be figured out by playing. It just takes a lot of time in some of the leagues. I fail to see how that is a con though. In fact I think it is what keep players coming back. It is something new and hidden every 3 months. If the mechanics is well received there is a chance they add it to the core game. If it is a miss they often skip adding it or redesign it to better fit the permanent game.
Now that you dipped your toes into wildwood, I would recommend watching the official extended affliction trailer produced by GGG. As it contains the info about the mechanic given to poe returning players.
Ther are 4 events per wildwood in the shape of a diamond. Ones top mid, left, bottom mid, and right. The thing is you can spawn anywhere but once you find 2 events you should be able to tell where the next 2 are.
the syndicate Jun missions are complicated, you can do it!! my advice its to take on account that the rewards, are the rooms you get when you complete any syndicate safehouse, after you get 100 intelligence of that house. I important thing its that syndicate mostly only makes money when trading very specific services you get with people.
In general some lucrative and powerful things only unlock at higher map tiers. The wisps directly empower monster and loot drops of the map when you leave the wildwood at a certain point the map might thus become unplayable for your character. And earning divines for powerful charms would only work if you sell them to other players. I checked hundreds though and so far no jackpot. It's RNG though and also depends on map tier. As always GGG does not bother to explain stuff in-game, they just assume you watch the league presentation on twitch where they like showed where to put the tincture.
Recommend just watching the League announcement video. It goes over the league mechanic and also somewhat the philosophy that GGG holds with leagues (let players find the fine details themselves).
GGG does a big league mechanic and rebalanxe about once every 3 months. If the league is well received by the community and devs it gets added permanently, Einhar and Alva were both leagues at one point. Also there is unique thay can only drop on the woods and bosses to fight in the woods in this case the kingg in the mist. Personally my issues with this league is that the empower is to random. You can get a small buff on your enemies thats not so bad or a buff that makes them godlike and there doesn't seem to be any reason for how it picks the modifier. Like two leagues ago it was a forging theme where weapons could level up and had their own talent trees. Also foe seeing if you havw done a map hit alt while scrolling over the map and it will tell you if you did the bonus or not. Also if you have the map tab the maps you have done will have a line under them. Generally kirac unique are worth running since they can be a pia to find to complete your atlas. Atm I've spent the last two weeks trying to find the last unique I need to finish my atlas
Of the many stages of a PoE player, you're progressed to the "playing off camera for my own enjoyment" stage, you're officially doomed to enjoy this game forever.
hey, you make great vids, but I gotta disagree regarding the handholding, I don't think GGG is going to be doing anyone any favours if they just spoil how each mechanic works on release. The wildwood has a method to the madness and figuring it out was pretty fun for me as is the case for most league mechanics they release. That will never really change as far as I know how GGG is, and that is a good thing. You have the option to go and watch a 5 min video and learn it that way, but you don't have to do that if you don't want to.
The thing is, at the start of each league ggg releases a trailer for the new league in which they explain the new league mechanic. Besides from that i think ggg likes to go with: the ui tooltips and npc dialogues should explain things instead of a bland tutorial banner. But i agree that even just giving you the option to watch the explanation video once you first encounter that mechanic would help here. On the other hand not explaining every detail of a mechanic to me is a good thing. Because it leaves room for discovery, which often makes games better. I personally like having to either discover things myself or read through hundreds of wiki pages. If that isn't there i feel like i care less about a game overall or it at least strengthens the bond with the game. But that might just be me.
New mechanics are always not fully explained and its meant for the players to discover. And at the start of the league people discovering stuff that they can use to their advantage has huge benefits when the majority are still in the dark.
took 3 mins for affliction to affliction all over your screen it really is afflictionin time Edit: This league has a very unusual economy because of the wildwood, you can power up the loot explosions so insanely much that uber end-game pieces of gear like The Squire are now relatively cheap. This is the first league I've had to press Z to avoid lagging the game even with a very strict filter. Basically everyone is rich because of affliction.
You need to try Delve. It is refreshing and if you like different mecanics like Affliction, Delve is different in all possible ways. Same go for Blight but not everyone enjoy them as much.
nice vid. Affliction league mechanic is a super-ultra endgame mechanic I have enjoyed very much as a veteran player. But I wouldn't recommend this mechanic to a new POE player.
Your con would have been addressed if you entered in the first zone. Current league mechanic is usually intended to assist you through the campaign (borrowed power/QoL/Low tier currency/etc). Also - as others have mentioned - I feel like most of their player base is people who return for each season and GGG is awesome about hyping/explaining things at each of those season launches (website, livestream, youtube, etc).
Hey cool videos figuring out stuff, just let me tell you something about poe leagues in general and it is related to your cons side of the video, there some portion on true on the POE devs doent explain the leagues on detail, on one hand it could be improved, but in the other hand it is also intentional, POE devs explains league mechanic always on the surface but there is also hidden ways of exploit it and it is comunity work to figure out. thats why leagues on poe are so sucessfull because it makes you feel you are cheating when the comunity starts to realize how to actually do better with the league. well thats it keep it up! enjoy the league :)
Syndicate is a bit of a mouthful. There are so many reward combinations and the game doesn't tell you what you get. Theres a cheat sheet that might help.
all the purps and Yellow gives crazy gear, currency is blue. BE WARNED: the more "orbs" you collect the harder the mobs will be when you come out, some outright unkillable. just be careful, risk vrs reward.
I understand that you don't want to gain any extra information/spoil elements, but I would advise you to look up the Season Reveal Trailer, as you will gain the same information as almost everyone else before they started the season 👍
You need to go into your hideout, drop the map device and map from there. Reason your mapping in an zone/instance with others. they could go into your maps, and you do not want that. most people won't as they are nice, but that zone is NOT just you. It's for whomever comes into it. You can totally build a massive cool hideout, and this is where all of us map from.
“Delving for the very first time……into the affliction league mechanics” that misdirection 😂

also you see the number of whisps collected go up, you hover and you see what they do. pretty simple.
Yeah, this is one of the aspects I love about PoE. Because it doesn't hold your hand, it lets the players discover the details for themselves, and usually to really get the full picture, it takes a community effort.

Always read the patch notes!
the current league mechanic will always spawn in zones near ur lvl and always spawn in maps, later when they get added in the game in some way or form then they might get added to the atlas passive tree and scarabs of their nature to help u spawn them, otherwise they usually have a much smaller chance to proc naturally in ur maps but since this is the affliction league, ull always find it in maps, when all these other mechanics had their leagues, they were in every zone and every map so u can imagine how some of them were kinda crazy
something to keep in mind is that kirac missions can help u greatly finish the atlas, especially unique maps which are hard to find but kirac missions and unique maps in general dont get affected by the atlas tree
new player onboarding was one of their weak points for sure and they admit that, thats why in poe2 they are focusing greatly on that, which might sound crazy but it would be cool if u make some vids checking out some poe2 stuff which the beta is kinda around the corner(June this year)
last point, didnt u wonder wat happened to all the hideouts u discovered in the campaign? type /hideout in the chat to find out :D
Also not completed campaign yet very casual.
It really is
btw do your maps in your hideout.. put the stash right next to your map device that way you'll save alot of time running back and forth
You sound fun at parties bro… seriously what is with POE players 😂
Thank you for the help!
Not the most newbie friendly League given how simultaneously dangerous and insanely rewarding it is. New people might get the wrong idea that every League showers as much currency as this one.
yea and the inflation can cause some confusion to newer players since next league most things will be flipped in price
yup. It's something they've mentioned in a few interviews recently. They forgot a lesson they learned in the past - difficulty should not be free.
It's awesome to see you getting to learn, searching and reading on the information. I love this learning process
Thank you!
OK
MapProgression:
White maps - must be Blue
Yellow maps - must be yellow
Red maps - must be yellow and corrupted for the atlas point
you also want all map points so you can specialize into specific Content you like.So u can earn Currency and buy cool shit to destroy even harder.
also pls start Mapping from your hideout noone chills in the Kiraq loser cave xD
(you can custimize it so you dont have to walk the stairs every time)
Affliction: Is the new Season so the Content is in every map and every area of the story
hope that will help a bit
loving it, great that the first mob you killed after getting some juice gave a huge scarab drop... welcome to affliction league
Nice video !
Like I said during the stream, following a certain color will always lead to the event linked to the corresponding NPC. And that same color can be followed to find the npc in question:
- Yellow => Warden
- Purple => Breaker of oath
- Blue => Huntress
The only exception is the last event in the questline : the king in the mist stronghold, no wisp lead to him.
Also, I love frank
You alwyas have the best tips
Its kinda fun watching someone stubling in the dark.
Also entering new map with full inventory is rage inducing.
Same as ignoring currency and jewel on the gorund because "I don't need any of this things"
It do be like that sometimes
Walking from the stash to the map device in Kirac's room gets annoying pretty quickly indeed 😅
The mapping flows so much when you put one next to the other.
First, I'm so glad to see that the story continues past the campaign =D
Second: I definitely agree with your con, 100%.
It is easy to group this mechanic with all the others provided by PoE and it's a fair con to put on any new player trying to understand the past league mechanics but your experience would have been significantly different if you'd played with it through your leveling experience.
crazy you waited so long to do the season mechanic man, but cool ;) keep it up!
You could operate the map device through your hideout by the way. You can decorate your hideout any way you like too. You can also put NPCs you interact with in there for convenience. :)
I do
the way the wisps work is you will ocassionally encounter monsters in the zone after acquiring wisps that have text underneath their health bar that says "___ empowered".
Hello, some tips you may appreciate :
- You can see if a map and its atlas bonus were completed by holding `alt` on it
- You can launch maps in your hideout's map device, and can custom your personnal hideout :)
Keep up!
you can have the map device in your hideout, make a cozy home :D
We all feel the same about the rucksack. Your audible gasp of joy touched my heart
Absolute pleasure
ggg does explain the mechanic, during league reveal before the league starts, example the affliction league started on dec 8, the league reveal was 1 week before.
So a player jumping into POE for the first time has to look up all the videos on the GGG youtube page? Gotcha
@@NyxVellum yes and very yes /s. The content reveal vids purpose is for the new leagues hype but it does explain the mechanic
Good to see you like it! Can't wait to see next mechanic.
Syndicate here we come!
Not sure if I missed it but have you not found the joy of hovering anything and pressing "alt"?
The WIldwood has no minimap, you feel lost in the woods. That is exactly the feeling they wanted to create. After weeks ppl figured out it is a diamond shape pattern and the edges are events/npcs. But you can spawn inside or outside the diamond and sometimes you can't get many wisps
"The help page needs its own help page" lmao
First foray into the league mechanic and you "luckily" stumble into the Herald of Agony lol
Watching trailers from GGG for the league will explain a ton of things. Highly recommend doing so for future leagues.
the syndicate Jun missions are complicated, you can do it!! my advice its to take on account that the rewards, are the rooms you get when you complete any syndicate safehouse, after you get 100 intelligence of that house. I important thing its that syndicate mostly only makes money when trading very specific services you get with people.
Use hideout when mapping. Less loading screen. U can also customize hideout and also u have map device in hideout. In case u didnt know
In general some lucrative and powerful things only unlock at higher map tiers.
Try using a hideout it makes mapping more enjoyable and you also have your own place which you can decorate!
You can use alchemy orbs on white strongboxes to improve the loot
You should start taking stack of alchemy orbs with you so when you encounter a normal strongbox you could turn it into rare
That's a good shout
Usually the league reveal video made by GGG explains a lot of basics for the special league mechanics
It's a great game
hey, you make great vids, but I gotta disagree regarding the handholding, I don't think GGG is going to be doing anyone any favours if they just spoil how each mechanic works on release. The wildwood has a method to the madness and figuring it out was pretty fun for me as is the case for most league mechanics they release. That will never really change as far as I know how GGG is, and that is a good thing. You have the option to go and watch a 5 min video and learn it that way, but you don't have to do that if you don't want to.
the hole in the ground to do affliction shows up in every map
Stay away from purple wisps if you don’t want the last boss to be super tanky
Thank you for the tip!
Yes, Grave Troughs can be weird. They can be understood through tough thorough thought, though.
took 3 mins for affliction to affliction all over your screen
it really is afflictionin time
Edit: This league has a very unusual economy because of the wildwood, you can power up the loot explosions so insanely much that uber end-game pieces of gear like The Squire are now relatively cheap. This is the first league I've had to press Z to avoid lagging the game even with a very strict filter.
Basically everyone is rich because of affliction.
Like Morbius but worse
someone please make me feel better and tell us he's using his hideout to launch maps in his current live stuff
If u press H button you will see league achivements with MTX rewards!
And price check all stuff from merchants. I sold 1 charm for 12div...
you didn't even activated the tincture in the belt slot
but you decided to go primalist anyway oh well
that tincture did not look useful
You need to try Delve. It is refreshing and if you like different mecanics like Affliction, Delve is different in all possible ways. Same go for Blight but not everyone enjoy them as much.
Great vid btw nyx 😊
Thanks! 😁
Hold ctrl(or alt, I forgot the default) while hovering on map item. It will tell you if you've completed it or not.
Everyone loves "backpack lady." lol
running into incarnation of agony on your first affliction 🤣🤣
nice vid. Affliction league mechanic is a super-ultra endgame mechanic I have enjoyed very much as a veteran player. But I wouldn't recommend this mechanic to a new POE player.
Careful with purple wisp trail, the enemies hiding between them will do chaos damage. That's what's killing you.
6:34 this map has a really strong BOTHHH
Your con would have been addressed if you entered in the first zone. Current league mechanic is usually intended to assist you through the campaign (borrowed power/QoL/Low tier currency/etc). Also - as others have mentioned - I feel like most of their player base is people who return for each season and GGG is awesome about hyping/explaining things at each of those season launches (website, livestream, youtube, etc).
Watching you play it seems so fun, but then I go into maps and struggle to even do tier 1 maps 💀
Purple and Yellow for life
I understand that you don't want to gain any extra information/spoil elements, but I would advise you to look up the Season Reveal Trailer, as you will gain the same information as almost everyone else before they started the season 👍
Why are you not starting maps from your hideout? 😄
Watching this as Just as fun when I started my first league just rummage through everything and die and have fun😂...just with any new league
