    MBR2GPT should really have a warning about running it on a boot drive on a non-UEFI BIOS (and probably even prevent it from running unless blatantly overridden).

    I should've paused the video earlier but here now I pause at 7 minutes and 37 seconds, 2 years after this video was created to offer my deepest and most sincerest appreciation and gratitude for you Rich. I'm at the beginning of my tech journey and I've found out fast that if you don't know wth you're doing you have a 6 foot 8 280 lb guy name "Ain't this some Shit" looming around the corner ready to hit you square in the jaw. I didn't perform a backup or anything of course and it's the families computer. I type all this to say I now truly realize that there are moments in life where relief to this level can only be obtained in moments quite like this. You saved a family today sir, and more importantly a young man's buttocks. Thank you so much for real, for making a video like this but even more so for acting upon your decision to make a youtube channel, following through, and staying at it. You really are helping a lot of people.

    Secure Boot was put there to lock out better systems. It was bound to cause trouble. Turn it off, and your box is no less secure than one running Win 8. M$ is not interested in producing a system better than the competition. Doing it this way is far easier.

    Something I always do when I build a computer for a client (or myself for that matter) I always have a second drive where I setup all the folders for the personal info and then I change the docs, images, etc folders to point to that second drive location. That way those files are always there and if you have to reinstall its a simple matter of redirecting those folders back to that drive and all your files are intact and accessable.

      Occasionally I'll work on a computer that was originally set up with two partitions. A small one for the operating system and a big one for data. Unfortunately what's typically the case is that the bigger partition is completely empty and the smaller partition is completely full. What I typically do in those cases is wipe out the second partition and then expand the primary partition.

    Always have a rescue usb thumb drive, especially if you only have one computer. Even if you only have one USB port, for example on a laptop, the Linux-based System Rescue CD has a boot option which copies the sysrescd OS to RAM while booting so that once booted you can then remove the sysrescd thumb drive and insert a second thumb drive to do backups or to download and extract a different ISO.

    Ok, Partition magic got me back to MBR but my boot record was still messed up. I found a vid that ran me through some BootREC commands for command promt and that patched up my boot record enough to get my recovery drive to catch. Wow! What an adventure that was. But! I got it back and freed up 65 gigs the last ownder had partitioned. Thank you for the journey.

I switched to one of the better thumb drives I already had and it worked like a charm only took 10 sec to load up and I was done in 2 min so thanks again! And I don't care about windows 11 anymore if you have to do all this to get an update then they can keep it!

    man this is the only video ive found that knows how to fix this very niche problem I have, only issue is i plugged the usb drive with hirens boot cd onto it, and when i turned on the bricked computer, i've tried every single possible combination of the function keys, as well as looked at my documentation (cyberpower pc) and pressed f11 constantly to get it into the menu you had up on screen (where you could select the usb drive as the boot drive) as well as tired all the way from f5-12 with fn/without fn and everything in between. im at such a loss cause this computer cost me so much when I bought it and I do not have the money at all to buy another. need help asap 😭😭😭

    Hi, I just built a brand-new gaming pc and it is not detecting my NvMe Drive, the specs are MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, Ryzen 7 2700x, Sapphire Nitro + RX 580 4gb, Gigabyte P750GM Modular Power Supply, G.Skill Ripjaw 4x8 = 32gb DDR4 3600mhz ram, Adata XPG Gammix s5 512gb NvMe M.2, Adata Sata SSD 240gb SSD, my issues are with the NvMe m.2 in M.2 slot #1 wont post at all then I put the NvMe in M.2 # 2 Slot and it boots to bios but bios is not detecting the NvMe m.2 drive. CSM is on but I'm afraid to change to UEFI because I have no clue about bios things, and I don't want to mess anything up. I read you must change to UEFI to be able to detect the NvMe but idk what that will do once I change from CSM to UEFI my nvme is brand new and never been used so there's no windows or anything on it currently. I installed the Adata Sata SSD with Windows 10, and it boots right up but in Disk Managment I still cannot see the NvMe drive at all, I'm afraid if I change from CSM to UEFI I may not be able to get back into bios my RX 580 on CPU-Z has the little UEFI box Check marked but I have no idea what I'm doing to get this NvMe to detect and work properly

    Here is an interesting issue I came across. I was running Windows 11 when all of a sudden while I was watching YT, it froze. I rebooted and was brought to the recovery screen. I tried booting from my Win 11 Install flash drive. No go. Same screen. Grabbed my laptop, and created an install USB for WIn10. No problem. Curious about my problem, I started looking into it. I update my BIOS to the latest Gigabyte BIOS for my MB. It was only outdated by one step, which had already fixed Win 11 problems with fTPM. I converted my Boot partition to GPT. No problem. Made sure Secure Boot was turned on, and fTPM. I still can't load a USB drive with Win 11 install. As soon as I turn on eitherr fTPM or Secure Boot, I get the Recovery screen. Either it's the GDP blue screen or winload.efi bluescreen. Strange as all heck. Since I WAS running Win 11 without problems since October of Last year. Any ideas man? I'm guessing I have to rebuild my GDP boot file, but not 100% sure. Seems to be the only thing I haven't tried yet.

    My system bios is on UEFI only. Today I enabled secured boot because bloody game " Valorant" won't run without Secure Boot. But my screen went black after enabling Secure Boot. CPU switches on. RGBs work. But not display.not even boot screen. Is there a fix for it.

    So... how can someone with legacy bios enable secure boot? What's the order for us, set my bios to UEFI? or will that mess it up.

    • @GT-on2vh
      @GT-on2vh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Before doing anything...check your bios settings and see if you can find the relevant options to do this. convert mbr to gpt... MS has a tool for that. Google or youtube it. After doing this you will have to go into bios as the next step as your OS will not boot up. From bios select UEFI instead of legacy option and enable secure boot. You might as well enable tpm 1.2 or 2 since you are already here. Restart PC and it should boot to OS.

      You should still be able to boot from UEFI even with legacy support enabled. It just might be a little more complicated to setup the boot order.

    • @jons2cool1
      @jons2cool1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loleck What solved it for me is I ended up flashing the BIOS with the most updated version of the BIOS. If you have a usb slot and the button for that maybe you can solve it that way too. But I'd call the manufacturer of your motherboard's customer support team first. Because sometimes you have to do some earlier updates first. Or if you have integrated graphics in your CPU, you could remove your graphics card, reset your CMOS, and plug an hmdi into your motherboard. Then you should get a display to access your BIOS if you tap delete on startup.

      only way i could get it to work was to set up bios the way it was needed and reinstall windows , every time i tried with out reinstalling i couldn't get video , i already had gpt and uefi when i tried , i think it had something to do with windows being installed with csm turned on in bios and set to legacy plus uefi when i first installed windows a few years ago , if you reinstall also set os boot to uefi only instead of other os and turn off csm before install , i also turned on tpm but that's so it would support win 11
