    As a Baggies fan for 69 years, the Man Utd game remains one of the greatest performances by an Albion side and,all these years later, I still roar and punch the air at every one of those 5 Golden Goals! The only bad memory of the game was the disgusting barracking of our black lads- The Fabulous 3 Degrees - sadly so common in those "unenlightened" days. But who had the last Laugh!! Laurie Cunningham and the GREAT Cyrille Regis would be worth tens of millions of pounds in today's transfer market and the Legend that is Tony "Bomber" Brown (now a pundit on Albion games for BBC Radio WM) would be right up there with them. Loving these re-runs of the "Big Match", compulsory viewing on Sunday afternoons - Thanks for uploading and keep 'em coming!

    Classic Matches,
    Thanks for this edition of The Big Match-well presented as always by Brian Moore and featuring good action, particularly that famous game at Old Trafford between United and Ron Atkinson's classic '3 Degrees' WBA side!

    A Man Utd fan here, watching TBM & MOTD was a big part of my childhood and evokes so many happy memories . On the flip side seeing so many players, managers and BM himself we have lost absolutely breaks my heart.

    Love the clip of the Dutch game. Barry Hughes, a Welshman by the way, was a great character well known for his antics. He was a regular on tv game shows and had some hit songs!

    That ManU -WBA match is an absolute classic. Excellent players creating magic on a pitch that would never exist at the elite level these days.

    Cyrille Regis what a player.
    Regis scoring that clinical goal and that shut the Manchester United fans up for racial slurs against West Bromwich Albion black players Regis, Batson and Cunnngham.

    Laurie and Cyrille's big issue with the England team was simple, they played for us, West Brom. In this Era we had some of the best in the world play and none of them could make that break to the point Robson had to leave for United to get his shot at England.

    How I miss these days. Just showing us the football and leaving to us football fans to make up our minds about what we've seen.
    Now half the highlights we're being told what we already know by pundits trying to justify their extortionate wages

    Horrible racist abuse Cunningham got there but he answered them emphatically! What a shame Cunningham and Regis are no longer with us,both great players and ambassadors for future great black players. Brendan Batson was decent too.

    A real classic episode with that Man.Utd v West Brom game and right at the start...Trevor Francis still at Birmingham City just before hs big money move to Nottingham Forest.
    Who wouldn't want to leave that awful team? I don't think City fans would think fondly of that time.

    • @danpreston564
      @danpreston564 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a terrible season. Francis going, relegation. It wasn’t without good moments. Beating Man Utd 5-1 in November for the first win of the season was fun and a few decent players came through, Dennis, Dillon, Broadhurst. The next season was great fun in the 2nd division.

    • @alanprior7650
      @alanprior7650 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dan Preston did the Blues get straight back up?
      Jim Smith and Kevin Dillon both ended up at my team,Portsmouth. Dennis went to Scummers (Southampton ) and I think Broadhurst went eventually to AFC Bournemouth. Another Blues man,Noel Blake was a great player for Pompey.

    • @danpreston564
      @danpreston564 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alanprior7650 yes. Only just on the final day in a crazy 3-3 draw with Notts County.
      I always enjoyed the seasons in Div 2 far more than the dog fights in Div 1.

    • @alanprior7650
      @alanprior7650 ปีที่แล้ว

      When Pompey went down from the Prem in about 2008 I must admit,I was glad. No glory in fighting against relegation year in,year out. Scum with Le Tissier enjoyed it but I'd rather be in the Championship with a chance of winning every other game!

    • @danpreston564
      @danpreston564 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alanprior7650 yeah, football is always better when you have a chance of winning.
      There were good things about being in the top division, like being able to watch the Spurs team of Hoddle and Waddle at St Andrews, but most of the time it was just a drag.
      Noel Blake was such a hero. Played the game at 100 miles an hour, took no prisoners, gave no f**ks. I don’t imagine he was anywhere near as good as I remember him, though! The centre back pairing of him and Billy Wright was mean around 1983-84.
