This run of Sonic 3 & Knuckles collects the maximum number of rings possible to get with Knuckles. This leads to some interesting routes to reach out-of-the-way rings as well as opportunities to show off some new glitches.
See the floating island like never before as you tag along with Knuckles, and try to keep up as he patrols his territory while foraging for rings and revealing secrets that show why he is truly the sole guardian of the island.

Human plays the game one frame at a time with savestates, and it’s then brought up to normal speed. The inputs are saved and can be re-run, which is probably the “robot” you’re mentioning

Sonic TAS are always the highlight of this channel. Really puts emphasis on _'Gotta go fast'_

Fun fact: Knuckles can indeed play in the Death Egg Zone, but only through the use of the debug menu. Trying to put him in the Doomsday Zone turns him into a flying, glitchy mess of an echidna, lol! I tried all this on a retail console before doing it on an emulator many years ago.
Tails also becomes a mess when he goes to Doomsday Zone.
Also it's impossible to clear Death Egg Act 1 as Knuckles due to his jump height.
@@quinnmcmurtrie8022 Given how often they're able to put Knuckles into areas meant exclusively for Sonic, "impossible" really means "we don't know how to do it yet"
While you can make it so you can play Death Egg Zone as Knuckles, he actually can’t reach the act 1 boss. He has no problem with act 2.
@@quinnmcmurtrie8022Without the use of Debug mode, Knuckles can’t jump high enough to damage the act 1 boss in Death Egg Zone. He can do all of act 2 just fine, including the act 2 boss and final boss.

I like how knuckles just gets into an alternate reality and then comes back in hydrosity zone
1:25 This is what I love the most about the Knuckles speedruns in a TAS, where the player does a Mega Man X-style wall jump to climb faster.
One of the reasons this is one of my favourite games is because you can find many ways to break it intentionally and unintentionally

For a better ring attack for Knuckles, you could use a save file where you have collected all the chaos emeralds, and entered a special stage after Launch Base, but not having all the super emeralds. That way, you can get a bonus 50 rings from the giant rings in the first six zones and still be able to glide and climb walls.

Great! Now, let’s see you do the same thing, but while collecting all the rings in all the special stages, and then collecting every giant ring you can find in every level after getting all the Chaos Emeralds… BOTH times. As Sonic. Call it, “Ultimate/Insane Ring Attack.”
I remember getting 900-plus rings in Ice Cap Zone as Sonic once. Got all those electric pinball special stages.
There actually is a run much like this, it occurs in new game+ mode so special stages are not 'enterable' but they do get every giant ring, and all other rings, as Sonic and Tails.
