- Permanent vinyl is one of the best Cricut projects! It's SO versatile, fun, and easy to use. Today I'm using the Siser Easy PSV permanent vinyl.

Thanks for this quick tutorial... and happy holidays. Have two questions about few things and a comment you made -
1. I did a cut with similar material last night and with that material or any - if its cut thru (and I used heavier pressure) - why can't you just easily peel the excess material off slowly, leaving all the stars on the liner? I mean if they are cut - why do they even need to be assisted with the tool, that's what I had to do or is the standard, but if its cut thru... it would be so much faster to pull the excess right off, then transfer tape on the remaining vinyl items etc. etc.
2. You said "this material isn't as easy to work with" - was that related to the above or to what? and what material is easier to work with or do you suggest, and why? (if not for above issue in #1)
thanks
Also, for instance - I was using normal permanent vinyl from Cricut - not Smart type vinyl. This is what I thought I could do - where in this video she pulls the excess off in one go - then just weeds centers of letters... th-cam.com/video/KEssPSOntJw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RWbsPwv-tRG5u5sM&t=130
Happy holidays! I find that if you don’t use heavier pressure the blade doesn’t go through the material completely. It could be that the blade gets dull and therefore more pressure is required. I find the tool allows for less mistakes or ripping that can occur if you were to use just your hands.
This material being the glitter vinyl. Sometimes the smooth, solid color vinyl is easier to work with.
Hope that helps!
What type of transfer tape is needed? I'm having trouble getting my permanent vinyl to release from the backing.
I have used Cricut brand and j and j packaging transfer tape. I like both and both can be found on Amazon.
Mine stuck to the mat when I peeled it up. How do I avoid that?
Try using the scraping tool, or even an old credit card the scrap over the transfer tape and press the vinyl onto the project. Hope that helps!
You don't take the backing off of the vinyl? I just got my cricut and I'm trying to figure it out. Lol
Yes, with non-HTV vinyl you have to remove the backing :)
So you just stuck it on like a sticker?
Yep! That's how the permanent vinyl works, it is so simple.
@@thefriendlyfox Wow! Thanks.
Hi :) I'm curious to know a year later, how was/is the durability of this vinyl?
It held up great! I do think it depends on the material you are adhering the vinyl to, but for this, essentially vinyl on vinyl, it was perfect!
Sooo you don’t need a heat press?? 😧
This video is for permanent vinyl on a non fabric surface. For Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) A heat press is a great tool because it heats evenly and if it’s a large one it heats the entire piece at once. However, you don’t need one, an iron will work just fine as long as you make sure to leave it on long enough for the vinyl to bond to the fabric. 😊 hope that helps!
You are too far away
Thanks for the feedback!
@@thefriendlyfoxsorry if I’m late. I just got into crafting. Have you purchased a Bluetooth microphone? I love your video!
