- Hey guys! I finally found the Crafter's square adhesive vinyl, transfer tape, and tools at my Dollar Tree. I test it all out in this video and share my thoughts on how it works. If you've picked some up I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you like to make with the vinyl.

I work at Dollar tree currently and bought multiple of all the vinyls and the scrapers. I cut mine on light vinyl setting. Applied it to my water bottle. Works great.
Awesome thanks
Thank you because I couldn't find the right setting to cut the glitter
I did the same, but I made wall decor using the holographic! Nothing wrong with this vinyl as long as you're aware it's thin!!
Mine stuck to the mat and ruined it
Can you request things from a dollar tree so they start carrying the item other dollar trees have?
hi new cricut user, i’ve seen some hate on this vinyl probably all the dollar tree haters! but im so happy you gave these an honest go. i feel most people testing them out are too quick to judge. it’s refreshing to see an actual review trying to find solutions! thank you so much ☺️💛
I'm so glad to heard that!! Thank you!!
To me, Crafter's Square is Crafter's Haven. What a great company to cater to crafters on budget. BTW, you are an angel. A great instructor. Thank you. New subie here.
ok... so I am new to this realm. What is Crafter's Square? I live life on a "thrift setting" lol
@Stacy Lynn Crafters Square is the Dollar Tree stores brand of craft supplies.
My husband bought me 20 rolls from dollar tree when he came across it. He called me on the phone and I tried to discourage him but he got it anyway. Then he went back the next day and they were sold out! So happy he got it for me!
Omg yay!!! lol
Nice!!! I'm about to order some off their website cause my 2 stores don't carry any of these cricut dupes
This man is the definition of a "Keeper"!! lol
Goood husband
I can’t find it at mine! No crafters square at all so jealous
I am a Dollar Tree Queen ( Well, it's now the Dollar twenty-five Tree). I'm using the scrapper and like it but haven't seen the vinyl yet. Thank you for sharing the difference.
I use my blue mat and washi tape with less pressure and it works like a charm! I have made a few small and intricate designs with it, but I did have to fiddle with different settings and weeding methods to make it work!
Best video on using Dollar Tree items for Cricut. I've been struggling with my Cricut tearing up my vinyl but I'll definitely be trying your tips on changing the cutting settings. Thank you so much for this helpful video.
Dollar Tree Here I Come! Thank you Kayla for showing us how to create on a budget.
Thanks for all of the real insight. Really appreciated being able to find out the true quality of the Dollar Tree products.
It is a paper vinyl. I used a sticker paper setting on med to low. Comes out great everytime
I'll have to try that! Thanks for the tip! :)
I saw this at DT and it said paper vinyl. That confused me a bit so I passed. I’m very new to vinyl cutting so I hated to waste money on something that I wasn’t sure about. Now I wish I would have gotten it. It was red Buffalo plaid. Thanks for the info.
@@Nanakook1 its been a struggle to figure out all the right setting and even transfer tape type. Make sure u use light tape. It wont come off anything else. Its great once u figure it out
I will try this setting since I had no luck on washi nor regular vinyl less pressure. It drags the material while cutting . Thanks for the tip!
But there is bo STICKER PAPER on materials. Did u add that on materials setting?
So glad I saw this. I bought 10 rolls today. Yay
Thank you for the video. . .I just bought a roll of the vinyl, so the suggestion about changing the settings will be very helpful! I have not seen the tools, but I did buy the craft mat and it is nice! Now my next hunt will be for the tools. Thanks for sharing. . .
Dollar Tree also carries one of my favorite weeding tools... It's almost like a Pin Pen. It has a pink handle that is amazing to help with holding down pieces as you weed. Two for $1.
I am going to look for that! Thanks for sharing!
I dont cricuit but i bought those to hold my quilting block seams together while sewing. 2 for $1! Wow, one for each machine.🙄
@@grandmalovesmebest You need a Cricut to cut out your appliqué shapes!
Is it in the crafters square area as well? Sometimes there's a few good things outside of the crafting isle!
That’s my favorite too. I never use my cricut tool
I just bought my Cricut maker so this video is major helpful for me! I did pick up some DT vinyl so this video came at the best time! Thank you so much for the work you put into the video, so informative and so helpful!!
Thank you soooo much for such a detailed review. I have a cricut joyand didn't know how to adjust the pressure. I had checked out a few other tutorials over the past month and tours was the only one to show how to adjust the pressure. Thank you soooooooo much!
I was so excited to see that my Dollar Tree finally has these! I'm going to use this vinyl for the bulletin boards in my classroom! I'd rather use dollar vinyl for that than the good stuff since it will get thrown out eventually!
That's so smart! I've heard a lot of teachers use it for bulletin boards!
Amanda I want to do lettering for my bulletin board what do you suggest I use to cut out the letters. What’s the best any suggestions
Thanks for sharing this! Saw ur TikTok and sent my husband to get some!! Went and snagged me 12!! I wanna go look more!!
Thank you! So grateful for your settings recommendation. I was going crazy trying to figure out why it kept cutting through. Now I can finally get these wedding signs done! 💒
Thanks for sharing this video. I picked up a couple rolls of vinyl at Dollar Tree but haven’t tried it yet. A BIG THANK YOU for showing how to add different vinyls to the list…I didn’t know we could do that!
I hope it works well for you!! :) I'm glad that helped! I didn't know that either for a long time!
I just peeled the paper back off and applied vinyl directly to mat on regular settings then put my transfer tape on after weeding and it worked great.
that will dull the stickiness of your vinyl and it may not hold onto your project properly.
You can also go to the Dollar Tree website and order it there. You have to get it in larger quantities, but most of them are 36 rolls of assorted colors.
Genius
I got four boxes when I seen them in my store. No tools yet. I was scared to use it. But thanks to you. I'm not scared any more thanks so much 😁
Our DT has tons. I thought it was crazy, so I came to YT to see if I was the only one seeing this lol. I got 3 rolls just in case it wasn't great. Happy to come across this video.
Thank you for sharing, i bought the tools a couple weeks ago, was unsure about purchasing the vinyls they had, now i will purchase when i see them again, very pleased with the tools
I bought a bunch at the Dollar Tree. I think it's amazing! it cuts and weeds perfect for me.
Thanks Kayla for demonstrating these Dollar Tree vinyl. Totally forgot to try changing the settings for cutting. Love your videos!
I bought two sets of the tools to have when people come to craft. What a deal. I bought two of the vinyls but haven't tried them yet since I am in the midst of other things and haven't had time to test them yet. Thanks for this nice tutorial and getting down to anticipated issues. Now I can't wait to try them. The pink glitter vinyl is the one I am planning to use first. Thanks Kayla!
Great idea to have extra tools! I've needed that before when I've crafted with my mom and sister! lol Exciting! Have fun testing them out. I thought the glitter was very pretty!
@@KaylasCricutCreations I have not used my glitter yet but the silver holographic is gorgeous.
Order online DT. Saves time trying to find a store that carries it.
Great tip! Thanks!
Yassss I found myself going to 2-4 dollar tree store
Don't you have to order a case (24) of one product though? Or have they changed their website?
You have to purchase bulk though....
@@katieupdegraff4238 depends on the item; I just looked and it looks like the minimum order size for most of the vinyl rolls is 4! So $5 for 4 rolls. Not sure how much it’ll cost for them to ship though.
Thank you for the thorough demonstration and tutorial on how to add a custom material setting.
Thanks fir the tip on material properties. Really helped me out working with these vinyls.
I use copy paper setting and it's good. I use this vinyl for sign making since it won't be touched alot. Thanks for this video
thank you so much for this video. i saw this a the dollar store so i pick up red, green, blue. so thanks.
I took the cutting mat and added some adhesive cork sheets to the bottom of it. It hasn't slipped once.
Great idea! I’m loving the cutting mat!
I got some today. I used the foil setting with less pressure and it was perfect on my explore air 2…. I didn’t actually apply it to anything yet tho. I also use their clear shelf liner for transfer tape.
I'll have to try that settings and see if it works a little better than what I was using. Thanks for the tip! :)
Will the foil setting work for putting on cups
How the heck do you find all these settings on the explore air 2?! Mine just mimics what I turn my knob to on my machine and there are no other buttons that I can see to change anything?! Please helppppp lol
@@stephaniegaspar6261 put your air explorer 2 on custom settings.
@@stephaniegaspar6261 turn the dial on the machine to custom, then when you go to your settings, they should all show up! 🥰
As soon as I watched this I went right out to the dollar store and bought some vinyl. I found it did not do small cutting well at all but I think it would be fine for larger print. Thanks for sharing!
The DT vinyl is a game changer. Hopefully it will put pressure on other suppliers to be more competitive. I definitely will default to it for 'short term' projects such as holiday decor.
Completely agree!! Some vinyl is crazy expensive! Would love to see them try to compete lol!!
The quality is crap though. You get what you pay for and it's best to do a job right the first time
@@deavyhick6803 They said 'short term' projects. It doesn't make sense to use quality stuff for projects you're going to throw away at the end of the month
Thank you for testing it out and sharing!!!!
Cricut transfer tape you also have to put on your shirt or something before you use it . More often than not. I always use the clear shelf paper from $ Tree, it works great and not too sticky
Yes!! I’m not a fan of the Cricut transfer tape. Definitely too sticky. That’s a great idea and only a $1!
@@KaylasCricutCreations I actually reuse the Cricut transfer tape several times. I saw another TH-camr do this and she said it’s fine. I’ve used the same one 3 times already and it is still going on strong. So I guess sticky is better.
Ive tried a few of them so far. The standards have worked just as well as other brands of vinyl but there is paper backing to he aware of. I just scrape the paper off the mat after weeding, since its not quite as thick as cricut vinyl. The DT glitters (rose gold and silver) are STUNNING under lighting, but a little hard to use. I would recommend a light pressure for them
Love the DT extras though (scrapers, pink weeding pen, spatulas, etc.).
I used the blue mat with light grip and the paper didn’t stick!
I love the weeding tool it’s one of my favorite. I got one for me and one for my husband he’s loving crafting too. ☺️
Never done this b4.. so im glad i came across this video. Thank You
thanks for the info I have some vinyl but have not used it yet.
Found some and it works better on glass. And the Tools are great!
My husband got me a cricut for Christmas so this video was definitely helpful. I've never used a cricut before so I will be looking for tips. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I saw this and Stock up on all styles red yellow plaid I have the removable my God yes I have pink God White transfers tape. Cutting mat awesome have not seen the tools yet.I go early and shop
This was extremely helpful. I purchased so much Dollar tree vinyl and thought I was going to have to toss it. Thanks so much
Thanks for the videos. I saw they at the DT today and did not get any. Will be going back tomorrow!
I recently picked up vinyl's in a bunch of different patterns (found red/black and white/black plaid and the cheetah print). I have only used the cheetah print to make earrings (on wood tear drops) and it worked very well. It was easy to cut and stayed put. Back in the spring I found the tools, I like the scraper. I compared the weeding tool and the spatula and noticed that the Cricut weeding tool has a more defined point on the end and the spatula bent pretty easily, but I think they are good tools for back ups or to keep in a travel craft pouch. I'm looking forward to making some Christmas decorations with the other patterns. Also - back when I found the tools, I also picked up some transfer tape. I've used it and really liked it, but noticed that the newer packaging is different. Mine has grids on it and is a larger roll. I wonder if they changed it to a lesser quality?
I was thinking the scraper tool would hold up the best. They are great for back ups!! This transfer tape didn't have grids on it so it must be something different. I hope they still sell what you bought. That seems much better. I'll have to keep an eye out for it!
You can use DT's clear shelf liner as transfer tape, it has those grids you speak of.
Thank you so much for this video. I was about ready to give up on the rolls I bought, but I am new to the Cricut so thanks again.
I didnt know u can change the cut setting like that and make your own...very cool
Hi Kayla! I’m new to cricut crafting and I was excited to get started, but realistic about cost. I did get a dollar tree haul to practice my first cuts. I agree that it is not good on intricate cuts. I also tried the removable vinyl. I thought it was great with the large sample cuts like the trial lips when you first test your cricut.
THANK YOU! I am a newbie and every video I have watched says do a test cut but doesn't explain what we want and what to change. This was so helpful!
Thanks for doing the review Kayla. I've been afraid to try it. I'll have to pick some up now.
Thank you so much for your honest and detailed opinion of the products. You have been so hopeful. I am not Cricut user but i have been wanting to try the craft. With how expensive it seems I would hate to slurge on the machine and never use it. I did buy 2 rolls of the vinyl from the Dillar tree to use on a tray my children I eye use to sort our Lego pieces for our builds. Grabbed the picker and scrapper as well. I didn't grab the spatula because I had no idea what it was for. Hopefully my little project that requires no special cutting goes well. If so I may add a cricut machine to my Christmas list.
I wish I would have found your video to save me the frustration. I was able to figure it with a little patience and your guidance.
I bought the mat 9 of them to tape together. They are great quality. The other tools my dollar store do not carry them. Thanks for the video
Great idea..thank u
Thanks for the advice! Glad you tested for us.
thank you I have a dollar tree right across from my apartment will go tomorrow and look. I believe I did see these there and it is a small town one so it is probably still available. I am new to using my Cricut Maker and eager to get started on many projects.
I left DT vinyl on default and it didn't cut my backing. It cut perfect and weeded it with easy. I have explorer air 2. I love it.
They have a DT vinyl setting
Thanks Kayla. This is a great video. Very good testing. Thanks again!
I personally use the Dollar Tree contact paper as a transfer paper and love it! It's not too sticky, you get a lot more than you would if you were to buy the transfer rolls, and it has a grid on the back for easy measuring. Hope this helps.😊
Thanks for the tip!
@@jihan5432 np 😁
Just bought a cricut maker can't wait to start using it.
I tried the DT glitter paper and struggled with the proper setting. I found the Lazar Paper setting @ 70 did a fairly good job cutting an object but not for letters. I will try your suggestion. Struggle was issuing Cricut transfer tape! Thank you for your instructions.
Newbie looking forward to seeing more of you and learning more I've been wanting to know how this is done thanks for sharing.
I bought some of the transfer sheet and it worked pretty well.
I now know how to do test cuts. thanks!
Thank you for testing out the dollartree vinyl. I haven't seen anyone do this yet. Just people hauling it.
I liked the transfer tape. I also had trouble with the vinyl. But I was able to do a cup.
My husband and I picked up 7 or 8 of the cutting mats for various projects and they work great when I travel with my Joy and my husband and kids use them for various other projects where a huge cutting mat is just too cumbersome.
Hi Kayla Hi to the dollar store and I got me a few green mats for me and my daughter I also got the tools and the vinyl I was so excited can’t wait until I get started on these vinyl.
Thank you for this video. I’m new to using a Cricut so seeing how to change settings or adding new material was extremely helpful.
Awesome video! I truly appreciate you taking the time to demonstrate how these work. I bought several vinyls, tools and transfer tape a while ago but have been waiting for reviews on it. Tfs and God Bless 🧡🤎👻
thank you so much for the setting for dollar tree it work on smaller letters 1x1 inch letters and on more pressure.
Thank you! I found several different colors at my DT and was skeptical to try it since it got mixed reviews but I figured they’re only a dollar each lol. I didn’t know that the same brand also made the tools! I will give this a shot!
I also found blue, matte black (and glitter black), white, and glitter gold. I will have to search for the Buffalo plaid one! Been looking for vinyl like that
I went to 4 dollar trees today. One has nothing. One only had glitter vinyl. One had permanent vinyl. The last one has holographic and white and black check pattern, black and red check, and a leopard print. Im glad I found them, I had time today and visited the dollar stores around me all at once. I hope they work.
Would be good to do practice cuts
I love the DT transfer tape. It is the only tape that works for me with any of my vinyl. I had trouble with other transfer tapes not releasing the vinyl. So when I find it at my dollar tree I buy all they have because I do not want to run out of it....I have DT vinyl but have not used it...But going to make my custom setting for it now....thanks for the tip
Hey this worked great for me for my Yard Sale sign. Recipe: Big letters + Dollar Tree Vinyl on StandardGrip Mat + Washi Sheet Setting + Cricut Transfer Tape (made less sticky first by sticking it to my jeans first) = great sign! Wish I could post a pic to show you how it turned out. I wouldn't use the Dollar Tree Vinyl for anything I care about, but for a big temporary sign I'm happy with it.
Thanks for your video, it definitely influenced my recipe and I appreciate your show and tell so I can learn from what you're doing.
Thank you for demonstrating the Dollar Tree vinyl. I bought some vinyl last month but I haven't used it yet. I'm looking forward to trying it out soon.
Thank you Kayla for the demonstration, I also found some vinyl at dollar tree, haven’t seen the tools yet.
Thanks for this my son just brought me home 3 rolls of this & I haven't used it yet !!
that pink glitter is really pretty!!
I thought so too!! 💗
The dollar trees around me have stepped up their crafting sections lately but I haven’t seen any vinyl in them yet. Hope they come in soon.
That’s exciting! Mine definitely has too! 😀I hope you can find some.
Just saw it at one of mine today. Don't give up!
I just ordered it from the website. Came today
The vynl has been out for over a year now I just haven't found it ar any of my stores. You can always go on their website and order items though. Bad part is it has to be a case of 1 item. So like unless this came in boxes of multiple colors I wouldn't want that much of 1. But think of it this way you'll get 25 for what you pay of that one $25 roll. I can't believe they even have the weeding tool at dt. BTW the healing matts are everything. Take 5 or 6 of them flip it to the back side lay down some tape and then you have a bigger work surface for half the price thats what I did.
Edit: haha sorry had it playing while typing. Just now heard you say the same thing about taping them together.
Its on the end cap at a lot of the DT
A great tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for putting that out. I was debating on buying and of the rolls.
Great information to have, again thank you.
thank you for this i never knew that I could change and create cut pressure
Thanks for the video. This helps me when I go shopping at the Dollar Tree.
On my cricut explore the dollor tree vinyl cut perfectly on the dial setting for vinyl
This is a helpful video for me since I am new to the cricut machine. Hope to find crafters corner materials in my local dollar tree. Tfs
Thank you so much for sharing! I had no idea DT started carrying cricut dupes. I will for sure be on the lookout. It’s a great starting point to test and practice with.
You’re welcome! :) Yes!! That was my exact thought too. It’s great to not have to spend much especially when starting out and practice making things.
My thought as well may have to heck out my store
Thanks so much, I bought some recently and wondered how it would work. Great information!
Thanks for the details on this! Much appreciated!
I used it this week absolutely loved it
Just a thought about the transfer tape. It might work fine on the glitter vinyl which requires a stronger hold than regular vinyl.
Greatly appreciated video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you ..I'm so new at this and it was a nightmare for me ..but I will now try again thanks to you ..
Have a nice weekend
Be save
I am a newbie to cricut, thank you for the simple instructions ! my dollart tree has the vinyls at 50 cents a roll such a deal ! this will help for my practice runs :)
Thank you for testing and demonstration this was so helpful.
Thank You for all this information it’s was very helpful.
I bought 2 or 3 of each color and was really sad dissapointed when it didnt work with the regular settings and a small design...but after watching this video and the comments I'm definitely going to give another try...thanks for the video
Hope we have this stuff at our Dollar Tree.
Super helpful! I just bought a bunch of dollar tree vinyl so I can play and learn! Thanks for this washi tip!
