Mild correction: The 9th Espada wasn't a Vasto Lorde. He was actually a Gillian before becoming an arrancar. Grimmjaw was an adjuchas. Implied everyone under the 4th Espada wasn't a Vasto Lorde.
Yumichika basically insults his Zanpakto by misnaming it and the spirit gets butthurt and limits its release, which works for Yumichika because he is in a division that is melee oriented and he doesn't want the shame of having a kido type sword.
A correction to your correction, with spoilers from CFYOW.
Grimmjow (along with Nelliel) are described as Vasto Lorde class Arrancars. Simply put, Grimmjow became a Vasto Lorde after his flashback ended (eating a piece of his Fraccion) but before meeting Aizen.
Even years before then (IRL), one of the Databooks (can't recall which one) said "most of the Espada" are Vasto Lorde.
Aaroniero is a Gillian, Yammy is likely an Adjuchas, Szayel is an Adjuchas (formerly a Vasto Lorde...SAFWY is weird), Zommari is unconfirmed either way.
Starrk, Baraggan, Harribel, Nelliel, Ulquiorra, Nnoitra and Grimmjow are all Vasto Lordes.

Actually, there is reincarnation in Bleach, when you die in Soul Society, you are reborn on Earth, so there is a constant cycle going on. In fact, in case people aren't aware, Bleach takes a lot of inspiration from the Buddhism Samsara Reincarnation cycle.

The idea that it's only captains does raise its own question though. Why would captains be the only ones going to Hell? If the reason is gaining so much power is a sin, then surely the espada are guilty of that as well (except for Starrk, afaik he never ate a single hollow to grow stronger).
Slight correction. Yumachika actually doesn’t like his zanpakto because it’s kido based and he’s in the 11th division who prefer pure melee zanpakto. So he calls it orange peacock when it’s true name is blue peacock. It doesn’t like orange because in color theory orange is the opposite color of blue.
Edit: It’s called Wisteria Peacock, which is a light purple, and not Orange Peacock. Wisteria is the zanpaktos lease favorite color not orange. I think as a kid I just assumed wisteria was a type of orange because of its relationship to blue. And it’s been so long I didn’t actually think I needed to look it up. It just stood out to me, which with how close I was to the actual reason.

When we get his zanpakuto in the manga revealed to be blue peacock I took it as he was ashamed by its kidou based nature because he only used it when himself and chulhorne were alone

Great vid, and yeah its weird ranking races based on average levels since they do vary alot. Its pretty hard to rank them since races introduced earlier in the series is gonna seem weaker. Also note, Yamamoto and Unohana are way older the 2000 years old. We know Yama was already old 2000 years ago and Unohana was around at that time too making them both well over 2000, probably ATLEAST 5000

nick. Yama is alot older. In the latest ep the Chojiro flash back was 2000 years ago. Unohana is also a similar age. Shunsui and Ukitake are around 1000 years ago. This is cuz Unohana had her fight with kid Kenny like 400-500 yrs ago

Nah you can have transcendent spiritual power without being hybrid. What you're thinking of is the soul king replacement which you need a hybrid as a replacement
The commenter above is right. Examples of a Transcendent beings are Yhwach, Aizen, Ichigo and Ichibei. Notice how only one of them is a Hybrid : Ichigo. Yhwach is a pure quincy. Ichibei is a pure shinigami. Aizen took some characteristics of a hollow, but never become one. He just used said characteristics to surpass the shinigami.
Being transcendent doesn’t necessarily mean you are a hybrid. But being hybrid literally guarantees you the path to become transcendent.
If you live long enough and fine your abilities, you can break through the race limitations and become op.
Goes to show you how crazy Aizen is both in terms or power and intellect, when he’s a transcendent being younger than a thousand years old (While Ichibei is literally millions of years long). Ichigo was just born with the potential. Aizen become one by himself, creating, possibly, the most powerful being currently as a side-effect…

Also of note Hikone Ubuginu from Bleach: Can't Fear Your Own World Novels *might* count as a fifth Transcendent Being. Maybe. It was an artificial Hybrid meant to mimic what Ichigo Kurosaki was naturally in order to Usurp the Soul King at least, and it has exhibited the traits of the 3 major races, as well as a pinch of Soul King (via Fullbringer) thrown in for good measure. Whether it is transcendent or not is really down to how successful of a creation you think Hikone is.

This same Ichigo that while weakened and injured was considered by the Gotei to be able to fight Yhwach when Yama got bodied and actually damaged Yhwach after he stole Yama’s Bankai (meaning his reiatsu scales to Bankai Yama), and absorbed Royd and Yama himself after killing them
And Base Ginjo in the novel (who didn’t get any stronger by the way) was relative to many Sternritter and people like Grimmjow in Base when holding back. When actually trying (in base) he almost one shot Tokinada who’s relative to Base Yoruichi, Base/Shikai Byakuya and Shikai Kyoraku.
And Bankai Ginjo is considered one of the people strong enough to defeat Hikone in a straight up brawl, with Hikone being Soul King tier in terms of power
Which all makes sense since Fullbring and Fullbring Shinigami Ichigo > FKT Ichigo

There is at least 2 more races: The race in the hellverse which was briefly mentioned in the video since they are yet to be explored and Komamura's race of the beast realm which will soon be mentioned but very briefly once the second cour comes back.
Don't forget the Bounts that are a result of a failed experiment that exploded. Maybe the Blanks and Shinenju would count as well?

@@shinkaiatsuya950 I guess it depends the blanks and Shinenju are technically a phenomenon where lost souls in the dangai lose their memories which form into the Shinenju who turned into a girl that cut down the blanks. This is from the movie. And Bounts are indeed filler but does that mean that they don't count? I dunno I thought the idea of soul vampires created by a lab explosion was pretty cool even if the filler arc wasn't that great.

As far as the most powerful race I would give it to Shinagami/Hollow because both are just way to versitle and op with their abilities. They're also heavily tied to one another as shinagami can gain Hollow powers and hollows can gain shinagami powers. So vizards and Arrancar aren't separate species just shinagami or hollow with the power of the other. A Zanpaktu spirit is the soul of the shingami. I would place the quincy next, they only appeared so powerful in the war because of outside power. All of the sternritter were artificially buffed in power by Yhwach and Jugram. Yhwach can empower them with a shrift while being around Jugram makes you stronger just by being near him. Even their main defensive power blut vene is controlled by Yhwach something said by Quilge. Then full bringers who are just humans with a piece of the soul king. So they're not that special imo as all the other races can possess a piece of the soul king.
You realize you just discribed vizard as the most powerful (shinigamis with the powers of a hollow) and then placed vizards under shinigami/hollow....by your own logic vizards are more powerful...
The Quincy with Vollstandig and Schrifts are easily the most broken. They literally become Biblically accurate angels.

****Spoilers for the TYBW and CFYOW Novel****
Great video Nick, just a small detail, Ichigo and the Soul King are more of hybrids rather than transcendent beings. This a difficult topic and a very big topic of discussion for many years in the community because the term “transcendent” only comes up once in the series and is completely ditched because is very hard to pin point. The only two people ever called transcendent beings are Ichigo and Aizen in a very specific situation and its mainly used as a plot point to indicate that Aizen’s reiatsu is above most shinigamis and they’re not able to sense him and when Ichigo comes back from the Dangai his is in another level of reiatsu where Aizen can’t feel him; The whole transcendent topic is very hard and convoluted so most fans just disregard it.
Now as in hybrids, these are supposed to be the “strongest” race of all because they’re a combination of Hollows, Shinigamis, Humans and Quincies in one and there are 3 and a half hybrids, Ichigo, the Soul King, Hikone and Ginjo Kugo (I said 3 and a half because Ginjo doesn’t have Quincy blood but is still consider a hybrid). They’re the strongest race because they are able to use and sometimes combine their 3 powers. I don’t want to give you examples because they’re spoilers for the TYBW and the novels but if you’re interested just look up Ichigo’s first fight against Ywach or Hikone’s fight in Can’t Fear Your Own World novels.
One last thing about the other two, Aizen and Ywach, Ywach is the Quincy King so he should be more catalogued as part of the Quincies but later he kind of becomes a hybrid by absorbing and gaining his father’s power. Aizen is still a shinigami but due to the Hogyoku he could possibly change himself to be different races but that is just mainly speculation.
i’m confused thought isn’t ichigo all so a half hybrid because his dad was a soul reaper and his mom was a human and ichigo was all so a hallow because he resisted it and got to keep the mask? so technically he’s a half hybrid of human, soul reaper, and hallow. He doesn’t have a quincy side?

Aizen used the Hogyoku to at the very least transcend hollows and shinigami. With what we see he is placed above all Quincy too. I don't think Yhwach overpowers Aizen until he gains almighty.

Also couple of corrections on the Hollows. It's pronounced Ad-hooch-us. Also Menos Grande was one specific Hollow but is commonly and incorrectly used to refer to Gillian. Gillian, Adjuchas and Vasto Lorde are just Menos.
Correction on Yumichika. He calls his Zanpakuto by the wrong intentionally to make it a physical type Zanpakuto because he doesn't want booted out of his squad of physical Zanpakuto users. By calling it by its true name, it manifests as a Kido type Zanpakuto.
It's pronounced as Yoo-hah-bahk. Also commonly just called Yuha

The name thing is debatable, because his name is supposed to be a reference to Yahweh. Which would imply that Yhawach is pronounced "Yah-wak".

Reishi is spiritual matter can exist in Soul Society & Hueco Mundo, but can also exist in nature of the human world.
Kishi is regular matter in the world of Bleach.

I've learned from my anthropology class "races are always created for the purpose of power, to put one group down and raise another up" if you know the secret shinigami history then you know exactly how true this is even in Bleach

As an anime only fan, this video was thoroughly informative and fun to watch despite having to skip around the end to avoid spoilers. Espadas 1-6 are definitely Vasto Lordes, Szayel was a Vasto Lorde in the past and voluntarily regressed to Adjuchas (hence the reason he was kicked out of the Espada by the time of Nelliel's flashback). Nelliel is a Vasto Lorde. Luppi and Zommari are ambiguous. Yammy is an Adjuchas, Aaroniero is a Gillian.

Big correction a arrancar is a hollow with a zanpakuto akin to a captain , a full bringer is just a human with a piece of a soul king in their soul, a Quincy is a human with a piece of ywach soul

I’ll admit I corrected a lot on your previous video in a ridiculously long comment but that video had the purpose of educating people who were new to bleach or catching people back up on bleach.
If you took a pharmaceutical class at a 400 level at university and the professor came in and only talked about how great weed is man you’d be really upset you wasted your time and money. Is it completely unrelated? No. Is it the subject matter expert and information you were expecting? No. If anything I was disappointed, I’ve come to expect extreme accuracy from your naruto content and was disappointed when you were not the same subject matter expert on my personal favorite series. I was never mad just disappointed.

Also yumachika's sword hates lavender loves azure. Thats why fujikujaku only makes it 3 blades but ruri iro kujiaku does the flowers. Yumachika calls his sword the wrong name on purpose because he refuses to be seen using a kido type sword. Hes in the 11th division a division whos swords are just combat types. Interesting specifications. I usually just say there are 3 races:
-Human
-Soul
-Hollow
And 4 hybrid races:
-Quincy
-Fullbringer
-Arrancar
-Vizard
I considered Quincies different from Humans but "living" as in they could die and then maybeee go to soul society
4 races Human, Hollow, Quincy, and Shinagami. Full bringers, vizards, and arrancar aren't a hybrid race. Full bringers are humans with a piece of the soul king, vizards are shinagami with hollow powers, and arrancar are hollows who have removed their mask thus becoming more like shinagami.
@@diamantemrobinson Fullbringers are humans who use Hollow powers, caused by their souls fusing with Hollow reiatsu in the womb. Therefore, they are human/Hollow hybrids. Simultaneously, that are vessals for peices of the Soul King but that has nothing to do with their race.
Vizards are Soul Reapers (Souls) who became mutated and gained Hollow powers. They are Soul/Hollow hybrids.
Arrancar are Hollows who removed their masks to mutate and gain human forms and Soul Reaper powers, thereby becoming Hollow/Soul hybrids, the exact opposite of Vizards.
The Quincy as a race are humans whose souls have been mutated by the power of Yhwach, gaining the bloodline of the Soul King. Therefore they are hybrids in the same way Fullbringers are half Human, half Hollow.
We don't know *what* the Soul King is so we can't say what the true Quincy race is. Is he a Soul who gained Transcendent power like Aizen, whether naturally or artificially? A Hollow? A natural born hybrid like Ichigo? Something else entirely? We don't know and therefore I'm only comfortable using the standard Quincy, ie the humans like Uryu
@@corruptangel6793 it is the piece of the soul king inside mixing with the Hollow reaistu that gives them their abilities so not a hybrid any race can become a full bring. Ig if you stretch it they can be considered a hybrid race since they were born that way however Ukitake and Matsumoto had a piece of the soul inside them. Vizards, Arrancar, and Quincy definitely are not hybrid races. Vizards are shinagami who acquired Hollow power they would have died from soul suicide if not for Urahara while Arrancar are Hollow who act like shingami they weren't born that way but that made that way. Arrancar don't have any shinagami in them at all. Quincy are born quincy hence they're their own race distant from humans.
@@diamantemrobinson technically, you're right. If you use the exact definition, "hybrid" is the wrong word and "mutant" would be more accurate. But they are, in effect, a combination of two races which is why I said hybrid. It's even confirmed their reiatsu structure is affected.
It doesn't matter if the cause of the fusion is the piece from the Soul King (neved heard that before BTW, only that the Soul King piece is why their mother was attacked in the first place). All that matters is that they are a fusion of human and Hollow. It is unknown if a Soul can even give birth to a Fullbringer due to concept of Soul Suicide.
The only true Quincy is the Soul King or peices of him. The human quincy are hybrids as they are humans who've been genetically altered in order to use God's power, or the are the decendents of those who were altered. This is proven by the fact that they can specifically lose their Quincy powers and survive perfectly fine, as well as the fact we know their power comes from Yhwach's Soul sliver inside them.

For the fact of becoming a Vasto Lorde , it seems that immense power or an unusual drive or goal can transform an adjuchas into a Vasto Lorde , as we see in unmasked , with the short about Ulquiorra even tho I don't know if this is canonical .

The zanpakuto is the shinigami not a separate soul. It is made very clear in TYBW that the blade is Me
Your zanpakuto could technically be a separate soul but we've only seen this in one person aka Ichigo
I think the reason they're all "races" and not "species" is quite literal; humans, hollows, and shinigami are all different variations of the same base template. A human who dies can become either a hollow or a shinigami, and when either of them die their souls are returned to the cycle of reincarnation.
