I think the difference between normal Tao and flower Tao is more like the difference between normal chakra and senjutsu chakra, rather than flower Tao being an additional element.
Also there are unique cases like the ‘justice guy’ where humans can possess and switch to multiple tao elements

    • @Foolme1foolmetw2foolwrice
      @Foolme1foolmetw2foolwrice ปีที่แล้ว +6

O To add on to Justice guys specific trait -tao is like nen in the sense to where it’s also post Mortem sticks around for a while etc. When a normal human dial practitioner passes away. It’s nothing as complex as post Mortem Nen but sticks around with the spirit of the deceased and all of the people who perished on the island Contributed their effort as spiritual transference Of THIER Dow. Now this still doesn’t mean it is to not be something incredibly damn near impossible to achieve unless you have a group of spirits who you had very close connections with or immense respect for as a contemporary of theirs who all died within the course of a few days watching over you and wanting to contribute in kicking tao as i quick bouts of all these attributes Due to SHUGEN being able to bond with their spirit throughout battlebut it wasn’t an inherent talent of His it was more right place right time and I dude b less with respect and love from the ones who fell before him on the island. But I mean he is a crazy MF so I’m just taking the info I got and putting it back in a more linear way to discern the distinction but that doesn’t mean that it’s not an incredible thing and I mean just the fact that rien was so overwhelmed by this speaks volumes of the Tietz potential for sure. If only he had a good conscience instead of a good conscience complex. Also why the hell did they make him cry blood for no reason that was a little thing I picked up scrolling through a few of the volumes I have currently got next to me and I know it’s visually representative of his depths of sorrow or whatever but it kind of just comes off is like the one thing in Hells Paradise that is actually like cringe he edge lord or at least edgy adjacent for the sake of edginess. Though, if that is the biggest flaw I can find in this whole series - which I’ve read through obsessively multiple times - really speaks volumes into its quality and everyone should give the manga a shot as well as get into the anime because the adoption is going to be beautiful but the original art is completely unparalleled and some of the most compelling penmanship I’ve ever seen. And I have been lucky enough to work as a professional artist for the better part of a decade now and have seen so many incredible incredible Works of everything from fine art to original drawings from Manga artist etc. still nothing comes close to how Big of an amazement reading the manga was for me just because of the art and I mean the story is pretty much almost just as great. Read the damn thing guys this thing needs more attention and the artist needs more recognition.

But, exactly - and only on the island where the spirits of his fellow Warriors reside and are still participating in helping his fight. I’m assuming if he made it back from the island as a Tao user he would just possess his innate attribute again. Although his ability to imitate everyone’s skills is not to be trifled with. But the special circumstances of the island were the only reason as to why he could switch attributes during his time there. Also I’ve never seen a more Kino fucking entrance than t Justice guy- Along with his squad just tortured a poor flower face dude and figured out how to use those giant guardian monsters as horses to barge into hoorai I mean what a fucking gnarly ass motherfucker he definitely isn’t Justice guy in the eyes of others. This was so informative and helpful cause I’m making a power system with several slight but also very important aspects that revolve around Taoism and Buddhism

  • @Egryn
    @Egryn ปีที่แล้ว +17

Ok guys sorry for the Length but my time has come. The spiritual and philosophical beliefs in this anime are essentially how I try to live my life. This is my religion. So pardon the length but I can add extra information to what Hammer says because I’m essentially a scholar in this subject. That being said please read on for better clarity.
For those wondering for a slightly better explanation of “the middle way”:
In Buddhism it is taught that in life we suffer due to our physical attachments.
By disconnecting from those physical attachments we can lessen our suffering.
One example used is a child’s sandcastle.
If your child builds a sandcastle, the child may show you but your connection to it is disconnected.
When the sea inevitably washes away the sandcastle the child will cry while you may feel bad for your child; but not for the sandcastle.
The child’s connection to its physical creating is greater than yours.
Now imagine that sandcastle was built not by your kid, but a friend of the child you never met.
You have no connection to this child and therefore have no care for this child’s “suffering”.
The same goes with life. The stronger the attachment to the physical the stronger the suffering will be when that thing finally disappears.
Nothing is permanent in life so we must be aware of this and ready ourselves to lose said thing.
The Middle way teaches us that while we cannot fully disconnect from the physical completely, since we are physical bodies and have physical needs, we can lessen our suffering by casting away the desire, gorge yourself on food; for example.
We must eat as creatures and will suffer if we cannot eat. But instead of eating yourself full, you eat only enough to sate your hunger. In doing so, there is more food for others and you have in turn lessened the suffering of others.
The Middle Way teaches us how to live in moderation and harmony with our natural desires.
As a Side note Tao is considered the energy of the universe. It exists in all things because without the Tao the physical cannot take form.
Think of the Tao as a gigantic pool of potential energy.
In Taoism this pool is calm. The energy put into this pool will cause waves which will have peaks and troughs; or positive and negative energy.
While this energy can be easily seen and understood, there is also a neutral energy hidden in the waves. A wave may form but will always return to that neutral state; even if for just a split second.
While there is both positive and negative energy, there is a philosophy in Taoism called “Wu Wei”, the action of inaction.
It means that sometimes it is not best to act aggressively or defensively but to stay in a neutral position so you can watch and see how things play out.
Boomi in Avatar speaks about this briefly when he is locked in the metal coffin. He watches patiently for the perfect time to act and then breaks out when the time is right with very little effort.
This is the energy and philosophy of what Hammer is describing. Hell’s Paradise just stylizes this into something more fantastic and mystical.

Tao is essentially the most closely-based power system to real life spiritual energy Studies and practices. I have the wheel tattooed on my arm of the elements and the cycle of hindrance and restoration-you can Google it - it’s exactly how it’s depicted in the story but of course different when in real life. But I bet there are some old masters - maybe the author is actually a user of Tao and is subtly exposing the truth of what it could be through the work lol. All eastern spiritual philosophies have a lot of real merit to them. I speak for all of America when I say that there’s way too much spiritual starvation in western culture. At least in a general sense of wide acceptance. Countries full of idiots…

I really like the way Tao is executed and explained.. it has common attributes like nen and chakra. Elemental powers and how those attributes and doctrines interact with one another. The basic abilities as well as the cool skills which make you "in tune" with the tao- Or more specifically the waves which increases both your power and the way you perceive tao. Shion is good at this cause of his lack of physical sight, But there are also other prodigies good at perceiving tao.
The wave example brings me to my next point, Its a cool philosophical metaphor.
The tao is looked at as endless waves also known as "Li" which can also translate to nature. You don't fight against or resist these waves. But the tensen has extreme amounts of tao, So you need to match their frequency to turn it against them.
Gabimaru relates the most to this ideology when he understands not to struggle with his emotions- But accepts them instead, Embracing himself and his Tao

The simplest explanation i can come up with is that every single person that are not normal humans are either immortal, indestructible or untouchable in different ways. For example someone may be untouchable because they are basically Satoru Gojo with the infinity barrier but of course its called something else.

Note on the "elixir", it does exist in the island, but it's not something that could be just taken away. In Taoism, tanden 丹田 could really be developed inside the body and it will manifest as an actual physical thing within the body, unlike in Japanese martial/spiritual arts, where the concept is still vague. The kanji for tan 丹 means red pill, and I think this is why in the world of Jigokuraku, the Japanese thought of it as an elixir that could be just taken away. Tanden 丹田 is the pre-requisite of being able to develop ki 氣. So far what I've seen in the anime, they've only show seika tanden 臍下丹田, which resides in the lower abdomen. There's stil middle tanden 中丹田 and upper tanden 上丹田.
    I digress...
The only way that the Japanese Lords in Jigokuraku could get the elixir or the red pill, tan 丹. Is by developing it within their own body. It is not an easy fix, they can't just take a finish product and consume it. The island is filled with Tao mystics experimenting this development and to some gruesome results. There are stories out there that the Tao mystics are like alchemists, but to their own body, searching for immortality within and beyond the physical realm. This is what I like about Jigokuraku, the author played on this idea and even showing failed experiments.
And the thing is, those seemingly super humans who were sent to the island to get the elixir may already have developed their tanden 丹田 and also able to use ki 氣
