A video about Shari creation would be great! It would be nice to see how to accentuate curves and how to follow or widen the lifeline. Thanks

Your channel is helping me through a very severe thoracic/cervical spine issue , extremely painful and makes ones mind, obsessed with the pain. Neural pathways get “burned” with the pain signal etched into the mind, like a shadow image on old computer 🖥 monitors.
This helps soo much to disengage the “OMG the PAIN!” and the inevitable “WHY ME!!” Monkey 🐒 brain conversations with oneself.
I love Bonsai because, IMHO, the art is very Bushido.
    It’s extremely mindful.
It compels one to recognize how trivial our human “timelines” are (especially helpful for me to remember🙏🏻) when our interpretations expressed in the living condition that is the tree 🌲 itself, are constrained by the growth time and seasons time of the specific tree.
    Just as in our lives.
We can’t “speed up” the process of our Bonsai sculpture, and that forces us (me) to deal with this simple fact.
    We’re not in control.
We’re cooperating with everyone and everything
I’m just beginning to explore Bonsai after decades away from it. Last tree I had was in the mid 1980’s..
I just bought 4 starters and I’m so happy I found this channel

Where the jin ends on a branch is it supposed to equal around the branch in regards to where the jin ends and the bark begins? You did explain why u made it equal in this video but I made one on the apex of a spruce and thought it shouldn't be equal to give it a more natural look. This is on my first and only bonsai so far. Thanks

any tips on growing a indoor ficus bonsai? i'm starting in a few months, i've got a ficus downstairs, but i'm getting a cutting from it to root, i'm getting the first roots by air layering, and i'm aware of how to tend a ficus generally, high humidity moderately warm room, medium light, moist, but not soaked soil, i'd like tips like, what bonsai soil to use, pruning, any particular issues with shaping (delicate branches and the like) and any particular varieties you'd recommend.

what species can you make jin on without comprising on its health? I have a purpleleaf sandcherry bush that ive potted, root and top pruned into a training pot and it has multiple trunks. One of the trunks is idol for jin but I have never seen it with this specie, in fact, I dont think Ive ever seen a purpleleaf sandcherry bonsai before but it has such wonderful arial roots and its responded very well to the pruning (its even started to backbud very well). Waiting for the first spring so it can show off the wonderful flowers it gets.

i notice on my juniper there is dead foliage on branches at the base of the small branches. and sometimes within the foliage..is it recommended to clean these leaves off or are you supposes to leave the dead foliage?

  • @mattdemoraes

Super helpful video Jason. Thanks mate. If you do see this comment I'd love some advice on whether or not it's ok to wait a couple of weeks after defoliating the branch before making it into a Jin (and wiring the jin) or if it'll become too brittle & like deadwood in that time? Having to style my juniper in stages so as not to rush

    • @easternleaf
      @easternleaf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, the only downside is that the jin will not be as flexible. If that's not a concern, then waiting to do the jin is fine. Hope this helps!

Great work and AWESOME information, but your camera work, angles, and your hands are ALL over the place. It’s hard to follow!!!!!!!!! You should consider not moving your hands too much or use a “pointer” so people could follow what your talking about.
