  • In this video, Jason continues his work on a Yaupon Holly nursery shrub that was cut back to the trunk two years ago. He discusses establishing and setting primary branches on the trunk.     Thanks Jason for showing us the development of the holly from last year to this year. Seeing this growth gives me courage when I chopped 80% off of a little holly this week knowing what I can get to grow back in a year from now!

    I just bought a small Yaupon holly with a nice trunk structure (but not in a great shape overall) for about $4 in a local well-known chain store. Because of its condition (and the remark of a fellow customer), the cashier took 60% (or so) off the original price. As a true beginner in the Bonsai world, I did not even know whether it would be a good "investment" 😆. I am so glad I found this channel. I will try to bring it back to a healthy life and see whether I can turn it into something that resembles a bonsai tree. Subscribed !!

    What a cool tree. what type of tape did you use to help protect the branch from breaking when you bent it. Looking for alternatives to Raffia for my little trees.
