Does it have leaves?. Looked like a dead bit of wood to me! There is an art & i have watched the Herons bonsai channel produce some amazing tree's with none of this 'faffing' about, and you see healthy tree's that will have leaves!
I don't even know what's happening here but nice save doc the open heart surgery seems to be a success so is the prosthetic leg. Seriously though is it that you are trying to create buds at where the two hole are or what?

It's a graft. You feed shoots through and it will start growing into a new branch.

こんばんは！いつも楽しみに見ています。今日は根本の石はずすのかな❔なんて勝手に想像してたら、根接ぎと、小品盆栽にするための枝接ぎだったんですね。数年後が楽しみです👍🍀(^-^)/
いえいえ、石を外すつもりで植え替えたのですが、外さない選択をさせられました。実際には別の根接ぎを計画していたのですが予定外と言う事でした。
