    I'm barely learning about my gti/cars so i was wondering if it would affect my car at al or if I can even install a blow off valve on my automatic transmission gti?

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Alex Santiago Yes you can install a BOV on auto transmission though it wont vent as frequent as manual because it happens when you lift off accelerator ex shifting. A diverter valve holds boost pressure when accelerating then lifting foot off the gas recirculates air back into engine helping spool turbo faster. A blow off does the same thing but will vent the air outside. I plan on switching to the CTS BOV which comes with an electrical plug to prevent a CEL

    Did it sound like it was leaking boost? My mk7 threw the same code at around 127mph mid pull & afterwards it would only build 25psi with a pretty audible boost leak. I’m hoping a newer revision dv will do the trick. 😅

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you can hit 25psi it's definitely not the diverter valve. What boost pressure do you normally hit? My mk5 ko3 turbo at 100% duty cycle maxes out at 21psi due to the internal waste gate. If you were getting higher boost check your intercooler connections.

    • @OfficialExcide

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey changed my diverter valve yesterday and it turns out it is the same as the one you installed so pretty much it was just a replacement. I drove the car for two hours and the power came back. But then the light turn on again ! And power lacking came back. If it wasn't the diverter valve then why did the power returned ? And what other possibility can cause this light. It is still the same code. Makes me want to trade it for a lexus gs350 just for reliability but I really like this car as far as looks power and gas efficiency.

  • @davida6146
    @davida6146 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you have to reprogram your car so it can handle that new Diverter Valve? I heard it can cause some problems if you Rev it too much and cause combustion in your engine... how has it held up?

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it works fine with a stock tune or a tune file. It has nothing to do with the engine. Any combustion should be in the engine lol.
      It's function releases the boost pressure to the atmosphere apon lifting the throttle. The stock diverter valve recycles some of the air and puts it back through the intake. The BOV I have has been great for years and still works great. It came with a dummy electric plug so the circuit isn't broken and doesn't throw a code. It is now actuated on vacuum pressure as aposed to the stock electric signal.

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recently encountered that as well I had another boost leak from the turbo outlet pipe. My guess is it's coming from the turbo outlet pipe you can follow it from the intercooler up to the turbo and look for oil leakage where each pipe connects. The oil here is all blow by I wouldn't worry about too much unless it'smaking a mess or your loosing boost pressure.

      My new one also broke, a rare occurrence for the revision D. I've since replaced that with the CTS BOV. Talk about fun and pshhht sound every time you lift off throttle, also works in nutral because its vacuum actuated

    Was it leaking oil from the part too

    • @SavageGTI
      @SavageGTI  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The oil is all "blow by" it comes from oil going past the pistons into the crank case and through the PCV (positive crank case ventilation) which routes oil vapors through the intake to be burned off. Thus oil going through intercooler lines and out BOV. A Catch can should eliminate this problem.

      +greezmkey84 payen it doesn't matter what fuel or what power you throw at the car. If there is a leak in the turbo system you will only make what goes through the throttle body

      +1gsrtom without boost it feels NA slow. I drove it like that for a month so when I got boost it felt like a new fast car.
