Great video! I just bought the obdeleven and tried your testing method. When I did my test, I was showing 17psi the whole way. Didn't really have movement against the specified value. It was pretty much straight across the board.
Hi Paul, I have a A3, fsi 2.0 2006, 200hp,185000km. I feel strong boost driving fast, so fare no need for check OBD stuff, still nice clip, Thanks Johnny Sweede Guy
Like your plug of the new Mk7.5 rear lights 😃 Car just happened to be there with the lights on. When you were referring to 'these cars'; pointing at the lights. Nice work. 😃
Great vid, easy diagnosis. I seem to have a different version of OBD II since mine gives me PSI. However, I was under the impression that for specified value I would manually input the value and see how it behaves vs actual value. The specified value moves the same as the actual with a .3 variance when full throtle. I guess that means no boost leak?
My 2021 VW Arteon has a sprinkler sound on WOT at aprox 3500 rpms with noticeable momentary loss of power at that rpm range. Has APR stage 1 tune high torque file plus IE turbo intake pipe and cold air intake. OBD eleven data logging brings up nothing. MPG is also terrible getting just 12 mpg or even lower in city driving. Highway I see at best 19 MPG
Mine is old and I do not get a list of anything I have to manually type in the channels I think you said 115 but then what’s the other channel or the list of values 1 - 4 do I pick to compare it to thanks
My values are inverted is this normal? My charge air pressure specified value is 2bar, and my actually is consistently at 1bar. On high throttle change they cross each other kind of move together then return to their values. Is this normal?
Is it possible for you to have a post map leak? I ask because my 1.8 TSI Jetta feels somewhat lethargic lately (especially after removing my Neuspeed power commander). Live data graphing doesn’t seem to indicate issues and requested/actual values are close. I did find it very odd though that the car only seems to be requesting around 9-10psi full throttle second gear pull... thought it would be a lot more even stock... it’s a manual transmission Jetta so wondering if the lower torque that the manuals have are maybe the reason why it’s only requesting 9psi
I have a big vacuum leak on my 1.8T Paasat.. Car starts ...runs/idles fine then dies... I can repeat this three times after that the car just cranks ..almost like it’s flooded at that point....HELP HELP!!! Oh side note the brake pedal gets extremely hard to push....
Hello there. I go in 01 Engine control module, and in Live Data on Channel 115 and the Values 3 and 4 are not in bar they are in Nm. Why it is nit the same as you are presenting? Or how can I search by name? Thanks in advance.
Hey, thanks for a good video. What if specified peak boost/power matches actual, but it gets there in a halted, jerky manner. Stock Mk7 GTI. My car does this and no other Mk7 GTI I’ve driven does.
Thank You Paul for your beneficial videos. Could an overboost code P0234 be due to a boost leak? In other words the system is overboosting to compensate for a leak.
I'm also curious about this. Having the same issue. I've replaced so many parts (N75, MAP sensor, DV, some hoses) but no resolution. Many 1.8T peeps says it's sticky vanes in the turbie. And I do plan to replace the K03 in the next year....but dang how I wish that I could figure this out myself first
Hey Paul, i have 2017 gti and when only the ignition is on i have a CEL and EPC. Obd11 gives me a passive code saying loss of crankshaft synchronization, but when i start the car the lights go away and the car seems to be driving normally. Any idea what this could mean?
Me neither. I think they moved it to "Charts" but the problem there is that you cant search for "Charge pressure", you have to scroll through and infinite list, TWICE. For the amount you pay for the adapter and full subscription, im really disappointed at how bad the UX can be on the app.
Paul, I ran this test and got some interesting results that I'm having trouble finding an explanation for: at low load (at idle or when I let off the gas), the specified boost is 4-5 psi, but the actual boost is around 14 psi. Once the spec boost rises, the actual follows along with it and stays pretty close, but 2-3 psi above spec. Any ideas what would cause the high pressure at low loads? Diverter valve stuck closed, maybe? Car runs great, but this seems very odd. TIA.
I've got the same deal going on. I've installed a go fast diverter valve. Car runs good as fuck. But my actual boost at idle is always 14psi. But as specified rises, so does actual. But back to idle, back to 14psi.
My jb4 plugs into the obd. No other way to know? Some times I pull hard and others not so much. Sounds like a possible leak but maybe it's just drastic seasonal air temperature changes in the north east.
I've noticed the same thing with my JB4. Running map 3 myself. I just added 2 gallons of E85 to an otherwise full tank and it seems to be running strong now. Thinking it might be an octane thing.
Hey I have a VW Golf Mk7 1.6 TDI DSG 2014. My car is in Limp Mode Engine light is on and coil light It’s not picking up power more than 30mph very sluggish What could it be ?? Need help or advise on this please Thank you...
@@JimBean365 I had the same exact issue, checked literally everything and only the DV was busted. And to view boost I use a JB4 with the app, which is quite useful.
Can anyone tell me if i would see the lag in specified value vs actual value since i installed an is38 on my Alltrack? The boost seems to reach the specified value, just late. I have the APR is38 tune for it. I just figured the specified value would have changed with the tune. Thanks.
Not necessarily being an APR team they're going to play it on the safe side so running the same PSI on a bigger turbo sounds pretty much correct to my understanding the only reason when people put ko4s etc on their car and running 20 plus PSI is because the tune is already set up for it, plus you got to think 14 PSI on an is38 is way different than 14 PSI on an is20
@@FoxiferTheWhite Thanks for the answer. I never looked at the is12. My obdeleven is showing approximately 2.7 bars. That's quite a bit, right? Not that I think that's the problem. My misfires are mostly on cold start and low boost as i drive.
Not always. It could throw a p0299 underboost Condition but it's rare. Our Passat has a leak (you can hear it under hard acceleration) but stores a code very sporadically.
I got weird symptoms out of my GTI. I get RPM spikes at idle, but iv'e got no vacuum seal leaks. Also unlike vacuum seal symptoms, this only happens when my car has been ran relatively hard. Like getting off the highway, but will usually continue until my engine has had a chance to cool down under operating temp.
I fell like my forge bov is causing a boost leak for my mk7. Sometimes the bov lets air out when im on throttle... have you ever heard of this problem before?
ChiTown On full throttle? If you partially release the throttle it’ll let off some pressure. Also, as revs rise, even at full throttle the car uses less and less pressure above 4500 RPM. It’ll peak around 20 there and go down to 15 around redline.

I’m sure it’s a good explanation… but for me it’s just too long and I fell asleep. I’ll watch it back another time, for now I’d rather try something else.
Im not happy about obdeleven requiring network connection, if I saw that before I bought it I would not have purchased.. its basically a piece of shit, not everyone and everywhere has internet connection, and this ball of shite let me down when I needed it most.
