What do you like about the new Canon EOS C400?
Seems like very promising, but I can’t afford it. So I’m just gonna look at it and throw my critical thoughts on it 😅
@@GKhan-un7py I bought a BMPCC 6k 5 years ago and it has been incredible. I do like to see where tech is going so I watch videos like this but so far I'm happy with my purchase and don't feel the need to upgrade. This has also allowed me to invest more into lighting and sound!
Honestly not much. I'm a previous C100MK2, C200 owner and this feels like too little too late. So many Canon users moved on to Sony, Blackmagic and RED over the years after C200's missed opportunities with 10-bit codec. And now this C400, despite all the upgrades and bumped up specs, still feels old, dull, and heavy. People who never used Canon's cinema cameras might be intrigued, but I don't think this would be exciting enough to bring back those who left Canon. Good review though. Thanks!
I will buy it! Look solid
Full Frame
Internal ND
AF
Triple ISO
Codecs
Speed
PL converter
Don’t like:
Lack of DGO
Coming from C70 working experience Probably I’ll get this and also the C70 Mark II when it comes out as a B cam selling the OG C70.
I’m also always eyeing going the RED route, but my line of work it’s events and high-end weddings. Canon Cinema cameras are built to work on a very fast fast scenarios almost ready to work straight out of the box.
The dynamic range is very impressive. To shoot an indoor shot with a window in it with the sun up is challenging and this camera doesn't blow out the highlights at all.
“The brand new 35mm rf 1.4” I’ve been waiting for that!!!
Looks like a 3:2 sensor, wonder if we'll see 3:2 open gate. Opengate and 1.5x anamorphic desqueeze are literally the only two things it's missing to be the most compelling camera on the market in this price range IMO.
Seems like BMCC 6k Pro is the best value cinema camera on the market
out of all the cameras out why is the 6K Pro still the best value?
@@KGFIQ BRAW and once rigged out its really not much different than these cameras that are 4x the price. The BMCC is $2.5k wheres these other cameras are closer to $10k. When you look at the image quality of the BMCC compared to these "higher end" cinema cameras the picture doesn't scream $6,000 difference
@@directorzay4250 i would agree i guess its the DR maybe thats the big difference. I want a c300 mark iii or even this but im very tempted to rig out a 6k pro. Less I/O on the black magic tho
This camera have build-in ND, much better rolling shutter and very decent autofocus.
Blackmagic is more traditional cine camera, for shoting with manual lenses.
C400 feels like a lighter version of sony fx9, you can slap on a rf lens, put it on a gimbal and not worry about the auto focus.
I love this camera Canon c400@@user-gb7wf6if9v
This is a Burano killer.
Just go shoot video Jeeez 😅
As an FX9 user I would say that this camera does everything my camera does and much more in a smaller, lighter, and way less power hungry body.
but no variable nd filter (I have FX6)
@@BONLEV my FX9 has the variable ND also and I don’t see the huge benefit over traditional ND’s such as the one my FS7 has.
Watching this on my Nokia 925, on neighbors WiFi. Seems cool camera 😉
When will canon make an RF mount video camera that can do 4k at 1000 frames per second?
What is the weird block compression going on only the c400 footage?
Still not quite the replacement for my trusty C70! I shot RED so getting myself into this market would not make sense unless i get something better than the C70 but not at the level/ form factor of a C400
X2 the price of a C70/R5C. Hmm despite that though, it's priced inbetween the c300 n c500. 5.9K c500 Vs 6K FF Vs 4KDCI c300. Thanks for the review!
19:53 he is wearing sunglasses while ”filming” and while saying that he had a little struggle to judge exposure of the monitor. Is this a joke?
amazing
When recording to RAW, if you switch the base ISO while you are recording, then how does this affect the ISO adjustments in post?
With Blackmagic's Pocket cameras with dual base ISO's, if you use ISO 1250, then in post you can only adjust from 1250 upwards and if you set your ISO to ISO 400 while recording, then in post you can only adjust from ISO 100 to 1000.
So how does this work with the C400?
When shooting in the Canon EOS C400 6K Full-Frame Digital Cinema Camera's (Canon RF) Cinema RAW format, the ISO that you shoot with is baked into the footage, so ISO can not be adjusted in post production.
What was this video shot with? Which camera?
C70
why not make a bigger monitor instead of a smaller one?
Maybe because they know that most people will buy a bigger monitor for it anyways?
why no 8k @ 60fps?🥲🧑🏽🎓
Wait…what?! 17-120 RF?! Why is this the old design and not the 15-120mm with x1.5?!
it's not possible to put this camera on a gimbal?
Technically you can, as long has the set up is under the weight limit of what ever gimbal you are using. You won’t be able to use the camera controls from the gimbal handle, but you can still stabilize the camera on the gimbal.
Canon ef lenses is working?
Yes, with the Canon EF to RF lens adapter. Like this one: bhpho.to/4aYd6W7
Who needs 6K?
its nice if you want to shoot super 35 4k.
Everybody.
Independently of your line of work, resolution helps a lot in post production for different appliances.
For me for example it helps a lot to create crisp sharp vertical content out of key footage captured during an event.
That vertical content whether I like it or not, pays the bills making sells.
Does anyone know what tripod is that.?
That is the Manfrotto 504X Fluid Video Head & MVTTWINMA Aluminum Tripod: bhpho.to/3xsCtkY
if only it was full size XLR
most are looking compact, and mics in mini xlr format its feeling like its the way of the future.
Any external recording options?
That’s not why you buy this camera
According to the specs there is an External Recording Mode with SDI/BNC DCI at 4K (4096 x 2160)
@@BandH Thank you,
No “Vehicle” detection?? How does that not make the cut… 🤦♂️
Dude, put some light on that camera. You're shoot a black block
How is the video quality compared to the R5
Why is this even a question? haha. Bro gtfo.
Is it just me or rolling shutter is outrageous?
It’s around 14ms at full frame so I think it’s reasonable for what it brings to the table
Compared to what?
sheeesh this camera is a big deal every video is 20m+
First
It's 2024 and this camera has no IBS 🤣
black magic, red, nor arri have ibis. Dont see that stopping 1000s of productions from being completed....
Which is a good thing. for video we down want electronic Ibis.
Good thing it does not have it actually. It's not that type of camera
Nobody care
You do?
