The 899 can definitely be unassuming if you swap the 1299 motor! Although the rear tire would be too skinny for that much power and the double sided swing arm. I think the moment you run a single sided swing arm on a pre v2, v4 panigale you're giving away a larger displacement possibility
@@BalancePointMedia I figured id play around with tunes and somewhere parts before I'd look into doing an engine swap. Hey there Thx. Lot for your advice for 899 ducati. I’m really after this video going for it 🤩🤩🤩 Can you ter me what’s the name of this black protection you put in the side upper gas tank please ? See you around 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
I wouldn’t deem the 899 as more reliable honestly. With 899 and early 1199 it could happen that the engine goes tits up more likely than with 959 and 1299, but only a concern if you ride on the track. Here in Europe the 959 has an somewhat considered ugly side mounted exhaust, because of emissions regulations. But to meet that Ducati redesigned and upgraded the 959s crankshaft, camshaft, pistons and con-rods. And even upgrade the whole casings to thicker ones. In addition to that 959 has more power all across the rev range, but is heavier with the stock mufflers on.. Somewhat strange but here in Europe the 959 is actually cheaper than a 899, probably because of the exhaust and the 899s higher noise levels. So my pick would be a 959
The main issue with the 959 that I was referring to was the main wiring harness recall, seems to leave some people stranded. I'm sure they've sorted it by now. Otherwise they are probably identical in reliability with normal riding
Are you referring to the clear stomp grips? Or the center pad? Best answer for you will probably be in this video regardless! th-cam.com/video/ANJqSCpA8Ro/w-d-xo.html
I'm not sure the conversion but I was getting 30mpg. And to me it is louder than bikes that have mufflers that exit behind you because the exits echo off the ground. We have an RC51 that is way louder but when you're riding isn't as hard on your ears.
How did you like the v4? I'm glad to see the price remain constant on the 899 lol hopefully people really appreciate it for what it is! Which area are you searching for bikes in?
Currently at 20500 and running like a champ! On 80 degrees or less days the heat is just fine. On hotter days it gets crazy! The heat mainly comes from the exhaust heat shield, not the seat contrary to what people say so I think getting a better heat shield and insulating it would basically solve it! But these things will run a long time. It’s been fantastic
@@BalancePointMedia SSSA on a 899 would be nice. It's just weird to see a Panigale on DSSA because SSSA is iconic to the Panigale since the release of 1199 Panigale. It doesn't look bad tho. But I prefer SSSA on any Panigale models.
Yoo, how hot does it really get? I just moved from Sweden to Thailand and the heat issue is scaring the hell out of me haha. I drove it in Sweden on track a few times and never felt it whne I were pushing it.. I would love to get the V2 its a perfect bike, but the damn price here haha... I could get 4 899 lol. And the 899:s styling is fireee.
Yeah I mean I love the V4 styling but the unnecessary power and extra heat aren't worth it to me. The 899 already gets super hot. The V2 would be perfect if Ducati had taken the time to develop a new gas tank to complement the V4 bodywork. They just reused the 899/959 tank and it just makes the bodywork look oversized and slapped on to me. Ever since I noticed it I can't unsee it. Also a single sided low beam with double sided running lights in the front bugs me, makes it look like a light is out. Obviously all my gripes with the V2 are styling related. Otherwise it actually has every other little thing I wish the 899 had
I sold mine a few years ago regretting it everyday. Then outta nowhere I found out it had been abandoned for 2 years in a backyard. Long story short I picked it up drained the gas and charged the battery. It started the 1st try!! Even with sitting for 2 years outside with ethanol fuel.
Red 2014, unfortunately the guy dropped it at low speed on both sides so I had to get some new fairings but other than that all good. I have gold oz rims which I highly recommend since the stock wheels are very heavy. Luckily he didn't dmg them. Yeah no plans on selling it's a really great bike and yeah definitely agree its the best of the 1199 1299 series. Also not worth the money to step to the v2 I've ridden one of them. And good yes but definitely doesn't blow away the 899.
@@mayhemmeme2907 that’s good to know! I haven’t ridden a v2 yet but all these guys are talking about how it’s SO much better than the 899/959 but I think that’s realistically only noticeable at 9-10/10ths pace and I don’t ride this one like that. I’ll get a track bike if I want to push that hard. And I’m going to look into those OZ wheels 🤙
If you’ve taken a riding course, I’d say it’ll be fine. However you don’t want to get on something straight away that has a ton of power to get used to, all while learning how to ride. If you have a friend with a low powered bike to learn to ride with (anything from a 125-400 imo) you’ll be able to ride anything else. Not saying it CANT be a first bike/learner, I just know I wanted to learn how to ride on something smaller before moving up. I absolutely love my 899 Panigale
What is fuel consumption on 899 please tell in kmpl i want to do touring on it .
And is it loud .
I'm not sure the conversion but I was getting 30mpg.
And to me it is louder than bikes that have mufflers that exit behind you because the exits echo off the ground. We have an RC51 that is way louder but when you're riding isn't as hard on your ears.
I have had 2 pani v4, street v4, xdiavel s, ss. Now I'm looking for a 899. But price on 899 has gone through the roof 😲 🙂
How did you like the v4? I'm glad to see the price remain constant on the 899 lol hopefully people really appreciate it for what it is! Which area are you searching for bikes in?
What;s the mileage on the Duc? Bro looking to get one in Lauderdale hear they fry the noootss.
I’m with you 🤙
The reason to get a 1199/1299 is obviously the single sided 😉.
Greetings, proud 899 owner
We do absolutely love the SSSA, and we miiiight just be thinking about converting. Who knows though!
@@BalancePointMedia SSSA on a 899 would be nice. It's just weird to see a Panigale on DSSA because SSSA is iconic to the Panigale since the release of 1199 Panigale. It doesn't look bad tho. But I prefer SSSA on any Panigale models.
Miss my 899
We have a feeling we'd really miss ours if we let it go so we're not planning to lol
It not so much the heat from the bike as much as the exhaust, so if you get the v2 heat shield I really do think that solves it!
👍 great reasons to buy
I love my 899
I see you are a star wars fan🙌🏻
Yes!! We’re both big fans! 🙌
I have a 5hp 70cc motor. I'm thinking to upgrade to 899. This guy says it has a smaller motor. What does that make my 70cc motor ? 😵
lol!
If i had the money i wouldn't pick a 899 over a v4 or the v2 lol... But that is just me
Yeah I mean I love the V4 styling but the unnecessary power and extra heat aren't worth it to me.
"Unnecessary power" lol thats true
I sold mine a few years ago regretting it everyday. Then outta nowhere I found out it had been abandoned for 2 years in a backyard. Long story short I picked it up drained the gas and charged the battery. It started the 1st try!! Even with sitting for 2 years outside with ethanol fuel.
You found the one you had sold?? That's crazy!
@@BalancePointMedia oddly enough it ended up finding me.
@@mayhemmeme2907 Sometimes it's meant to be, that's a great story! Never get rid of her again lol
What year and color is yours?
(performance+looks/ price) >
thanks! greetings from the Philippines! 😊
Thanks for checking out the channel!
would you recommend as a first bike for someone ?
If you’ve taken a riding course, I’d say it’ll be fine. However you don’t want to get on something straight away that has a ton of power to get used to, all while learning how to ride. If you have a friend with a low powered bike to learn to ride with (anything from a 125-400 imo) you’ll be able to ride anything else. Not saying it CANT be a first bike/learner, I just know I wanted to learn how to ride on something smaller before moving up. If you’ve already learned to ride, it’s a great bike regardless of if it’s your first or 30th bike. 🤙
@@BalancePointMedia appreciate that advice, here in the UK you have to dona course and get your licence before you're able to ride anything above a 600cc
That being the case then, yeah it’s a fantastic bike! Just make sure to ride safe!
Yesss !! Great 🍇🍇🍇
my dream motorcycle, i hope to be able before the EU and french governement forbid me to ride a gas powered machine.
Oh man, we understand that, California wants to be totally electric by 2035. I think it’s a pretty far fetched goal. I hope it takes a lot longer to reach that point lol.
@@BalancePointMedia 2030 in france. Yellow vest started just with a slight gas price up. There will be huge movement when this will occures. Yeah hope for you too aswell !
Thanks. Buying one today with 17000kms on it. :D
Nice! Enjoy it!!
Great video this one. Looooooove this bike!!!? 😎😎
Bodywork part i think its nails this bike on the head.
@@Vale46NL yeah I really do think it looks superior to the 959 and V2 in the styling department. That new black V2 is an absolute beauty though!
@@BalancePointMedia the sound of the V2 is even better than the 899... But I think I will enjoy it.haha. 😎
You did a good video, but ask the guy who films not to breed too close and too loud or i dont know just remove the sound of it 😅. The rest all good
Jeez camera man how much cardio does it take to hold a camera stop huffing and puffing into the mic
That’s pretty funny. Actually this was a pretty early video that we did, and I, the camera man that needed to do cardio, have really shaky hands from a lot of impacts and other tools over the years. I was trying to steady my breathing to make sure I wasn’t shaking the camera around a ton. It happens bud. You live and you learn lol.
Bro get the camera man on a ventilator!!!
Breathing hheavy as helllll into the mic!!!
He needs a checkup immediately
Wouldn’t a ventilator make more noise though? 🤔
@@BalancePointMedia Im saying for his health. Not to be quiet.
V2 all day.
V2s are awesome, you really can't go wrong with any Panigale
Bump
All reasons why I bought mine.
We're glad you agree!!
👌🏻
are u filipino?
half vietnamese half dutch!
The only reason against the 899 is the ugly screen.
The windscreen? Mine came with the aftermarket so I suppose I wouldn't know that issue
@@BalancePointMedia thanks for your answer, sorry I meant the display 😉
man fix your audio rest is perfect.......
Who else is sick of seeing all these woke ads on yt?
Same logic I used to buy my 14’ !
They're amazing bikes!!
