    Props for being reasonable and honest. Some people will always go for bigger bikes but the skill level never goes up. Besides, we are not paid to ride fast. I love the 899

    There is something sweet about the 850-950 range where you want performance, but aren't navigating huge sweepers or trying to get past 150 with room to spare. The tech unleashed in the past 15 years or so brings plenty of very usable horsepower where you once needed 1100+ to do the same thing.

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@schmirgldecks Well, that's a totally valid opinion and I respect it. I personally thing the single sided swing arm looks better because you can see more of an actual wheel design but that's just me. I also think it's classic Ducati design element and the double sided swing arm on a Panigale doesn't match as well considering how beautiful the rest of the bike is

    • @schmirgldecks
      @schmirgldecks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BalancePointMedia to me personally it looks ugly and somehow uneven,so one side is empty and the other side looks chubby,and I would have impression that the wheel would come off.
      There is bunch of people who blindly follow some guys who think they are smart on some Ducati forums,whatever they say they follow.Same thing about termignoni mufflers, big hype there like “termis are louder termis are louder” ,i wanted to put them on mine 899 than i realised that they are not fuckin louder than the stock ones,im not wasting my 3000$ on it,same for Akrapovic,to me it doesn’t sound louder, they are bloody silencers,they just kill high frequencies in sound,someone prove me wrong.
      Guys look after your money and don’t let be cheated.

    Thanks for the video. Been looking into the panigale line of bikes and I've been wanting to build something into a sleeper. This was one of my options I was looking into. I have friends who have a 848, 1198, 959, 1199, and a V2. I've been looking for what might be unassuming but can be a secret monster

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 899 can definitely be unassuming if you swap the 1299 motor! Although the rear tire would be too skinny for that much power and the double sided swing arm. I think the moment you run a single sided swing arm on a pre v2, v4 panigale you're giving away a larger displacement possibility

    It is said the 899 didnt have a clearcoat on the paint from the factory. I love my 959. You spot on with the whole ego big cc bikes. I wouldn't mind a 1199/1299 or bigger. Alot of my riding buddies said i wouldn't too much like the bigger bikes on the street though.

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally! I’ve heard that they didn’t put clear coat on any of the anniversary red colors which is crazy to me but I just try to keep the bike protected as much as I can.
      One thing I will say is there are times when I wish I had like 5-7 more hp and I’ve heard the 959 provides that exact amount people we’re requesting which was great. I just got such a great deal on my 899 I couldn’t justify even considering a 959 lol

  • @alpha1k-

    899-959 is a better street bike by far than the 1199-1299. They are more docile more comfortable and not as hot. And also seam to run smoother. But the 1199-1299 is where its at if your an experienced rider the power and torque is exhilarating if you know how to use it, but the big twins are not as street friendly thats for sure.

They only made the 959 a couple of years because they had to modify the 899 because of the Euro4 emissions specifications but if you research today 2024 the 899cc super cuadro engine is one of the best engines Ducati has ever made.

    I love my 899, had it from new and it’s got 26,000 miles on it now and it’s going great!
    The 899 / 1199s are the best looking Panigales imo, I think the newer models have just got a bit “ bloated” looking, I’ve been riding sports bikes for over 40 years now and I ride with guys on Fireblade, S1000rr, KTM SDR and the little Panigale is every bit as quick as any of them, ..yes it’ll loose out in a straight line drag race, but that’s not what sports bikes are for 🤷🏻‍♂️
    I have no intention of selling it as it’s too good of a ride, over the lockdown period I’ve been adding some good stuff to it,..K tech DDS Pro shock and I’m just waiting delivery of a set of BST carbon wheels which are getting a set of Bridgestone S 22s on them, great tyres, suits the Panigale perfectly......ride safe and enjoy your bike 👍

    I wouldn’t deem the 899 as more reliable honestly. With 899 and early 1199 it could happen that the engine goes tits up more likely than with 959 and 1299, but only a concern if you ride on the track. Here in Europe the 959 has an somewhat considered ugly side mounted exhaust, because of emissions regulations. But to meet that Ducati redesigned and upgraded the 959s crankshaft, camshaft, pistons and con-rods. And even upgrade the whole casings to thicker ones. In addition to that 959 has more power all across the rev range, but is heavier with the stock mufflers on..
    Somewhat strange but here in Europe the 959 is actually cheaper than a 899, probably because of the exhaust and the 899s higher noise levels. So my pick would be a 959

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      The main issue with the 959 that I was referring to was the main wiring harness recall, seems to leave some people stranded. I'm sure they've sorted it by now. Otherwise they are probably identical in reliability with normal riding

    If i had the money i wouldn't pick a 899 over a v4 or the v2 lol... But that is just me

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I mean I love the V4 styling but the unnecessary power and extra heat aren't worth it to me. The 899 already gets super hot. The V2 would be perfect if Ducati had taken the time to develop a new gas tank to complement the V4 bodywork. They just reused the 899/959 tank and it just makes the bodywork look oversized and slapped on to me. Ever since I noticed it I can't unsee it. Also a single sided low beam with double sided running lights in the front bugs me, makes it look like a light is out.
      Obviously all my gripes with the V2 are styling related. Otherwise it actually has every other little thing I wish the 899 had

    would you recommend as a first bike for someone ?

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’ve taken a riding course, I’d say it’ll be fine. However you don’t want to get on something straight away that has a ton of power to get used to, all while learning how to ride. If you have a friend with a low powered bike to learn to ride with (anything from a 125-400 imo) you’ll be able to ride anything else. Not saying it CANT be a first bike/learner, I just know I wanted to learn how to ride on something smaller before moving up. If you’ve already learned to ride, it’s a great bike regardless of if it’s your first or 30th bike. 🤙

      @stig12er 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BalancePointMedia appreciate that advice, here in the UK you have to dona course and get your licence before you're able to ride anything above a 600cc

    • @BalancePointMedia

      That’s pretty funny. Actually this was a pretty early video that we did, and I, the camera man that needed to do cardio, have really shaky hands from a lot of impacts and other tools over the years. I was trying to steady my breathing to make sure I wasn’t shaking the camera around a ton. It happens bud. You live and you learn lol.
