After many, many years I flew Sri Lankan airlines Sydney to Colombo UL 607 and return UL606 in July 2024. Very good, I did not feel much difference between it and Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Thai or Cathy Pacific, those were my usual airlines to Colombo for the last 20 years. The A330 aircraft from Sydney to Colombo was fine, except the little tired toilets, But the return aircraft appeared fairly new. Good leg room, films etc, food was also very good. In fact, it was the day when that microsoft glitch disrupted Sydney airport. Despite that our flight departed on time, as well as the return flight. Perfect smooth landings. Cabin crew was also fine, seems there were few matured hostesses than other airlines. I give 8/10 for SLA, but still do not understand why Sri Lankans criticise it like the worst airline in the world.

When speaking to pilots, they ask students to go abroad for training like usa canada and Austealia etc... we too have flight schools in srilanka. What's the difference ? student pilots in srilanka finishes the course ppl,cpl and multi engine training are these training srilanka are recognised in other country's as well as here. Hope I will get a good answer from the capt
