Thanks for good video Sandy! I manged to get it open by using fifth gear and brakes, just in case added spanner to driveshaft flex disc bolt to hold against body. But damn it was tight, I had to use 3/4 sockets and 1m pipe :S I could not find opening to flywheel underneath facelift E46 320d manual, otherwise I would have tried your trick also.

happened to me too. crank pully disintegrated at 110k miles. ststement of the obvious but its recomended to change the belts at the same time.

Is your car Remapped? What bhp is it?
Use a small jack to hold the chisel in place on flywheel if u dont have another of hands ready

Why would u do it in 6th gear? Stick it in first, handbrake on and get that bolt off

Do not lock flywheel, it put too much stress on crankshaft, use proper tool.
Haven't got proper tool, one must work with what one has available!!! I've had no problems since repair.

Can't you leave the car in gear with some one sitting in it with their foot on the break to lock the engine up?

Yes the rod lifts a little bit above the 0 in spidometer when i try to crank it
