    This was a lovely interview and I'm glad that the Baha'i Fast is being studied on a scientific level.
    With regards to the question that was brought up about mental clarity while fasting, I saw in a video interview of Andrew Huberman by Lex Fridman where he said that fasting increases epinephrine and that helps with alertness, so that might help explain it.

    Wonderful initiative. Thank you. Aside from the energetic elements of fasting, I would be interested in inflammatory markers. Intermittent fasting has been shown to augment immune parameters have been shown to influence autoimmune disease as well as cancer. C-reactive protein, T-cells, inflammatory cytokines, interleukines, etc. Perhaps next time 🙂

    Thanks! I am glad to know about this research I always wonder about if it is safe to fast when you are not a healthy person. I am older now and find it hard to fast. But the desire to obey makes me always try to fast because the spiritual aspect.

    I found this heartening. It's good, of course that most of the people involved are not Baha'i (though that could be another study in itself). Aside from the fact that the distinctness of the fasting period is in its inwardness, its subtle, deep conditions difficult if not impossible to measure, I would be interested in studies comparing the different ages of those fasting. Does the experience become generally more difficult in the late sixties, etc. When I turned 70 I ceased fasting in the full sense, but recently on my 80th birthday I began fully to fast again, and so far so good! I'm deeply grateful. I am one of those who love the spiritual heightening and rarefying of the Fast but have found it physically more challenging than many others (this is an anecdotal conclusion). Thanks to both of you. The questions were put wonderfully, the answers were thoughtful and clear.

    Thank you for posting this interview and thank you Dr. Daniela Koppold. I would love to see some of the other aspects from Baha'u'llah's Tablet of Health and Healing incorporated into the study and incorporate these in studying the principles and process of Fasting. e.g. drinking before you eat, not to mix diametrically opposite foods, the importance of contentment etc Research could even show how these principles could enhance the physical benefits of Fasting Another aspect of the Spiritual Component of Fasting is when we make use of the many prayers specifically for Fasting and meditating on these and the personal benefit of writing out what we ask for during this special time when we choose to Fast, I personally found very empowering.

    Thank you for this enlightening interview. So many interesting topics. I find that my creativity levels during the Fast are greatly heightened during the Fast. I love composing and recording vocals as there is a different spirit during these special times. I wonder if creativity is something that can be included in your future research as well.

    Allah'u'Abha Ladies. Kia Ora greetings from New Zealand. Thanks for the cool and intrresting interview. Daniela, Leyla's question about concentration and focus is one I'd be interested about, so when you do get more funding😊 for study, add that for us. I'm gonna test myself on it next fast😁. Another thing I'd be interested in is being apart of it, so maybe you can put out a questionnaire for the friends around the world that would like to join in on it. Like David from Canada, find out effects of different seasons, climates? And then you could compare finds from us with your control group, with comparable findings, and if they add up you could do more in depth questions, with less funding? Anyway you probably thought about this, and also interested in what questions the friends have, so I end my novel now😆.

    Very excited to hear this interview and learn of these early findings. I do hope this study will be available to read.Continue if possible! The combination of prayer and meditation, the sacredness and how that enhances/effects the result of physically fasting and health.. Thank you.

    I would like to see a specific study on the digestive power after sundown. Is it wise to eat heavily, as some people do, after sundown? How efficient is our digestive system after sundown compared to its optimum efficiency at the height of solar power at midday?

    What are the parameters of the fast? What is the referenced article the doctor is speaking about so we can read it? I am interested in reading the study. Thanks so much for your service! Dr. Elisa Beth Haransky-Beck 🥰

      Hi Elisa! Great questions! The study that Dr. Koppold is describing has yet to be published but we'll share more information once it is. Thanks for asking.

    Thank you very much for your video. I’m now 65 and the past few years, I have found that it is a lot easier for me to get a cold and end up having to break the fast.
    Part of the problem maybe because I live in Canada and this can result in the weather can swing in different directions. Is it possible that nutrition is more important when fasting this time of the year in northern Countries.
    Also the effects on people in northern parts of the World where the amount of daylight is vey short at this time of the year.

    Is the difference between the Ramadan fast & this fast that one is 30 days & the other 19 days? Are both Spiritual fasts? Thanks again both of you! ElisaBe 🥰

    • @QueenTiye54
      @QueenTiye54 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are spiritual fasts. And both are month-long, according to the religious calendar. Ramadan is a month in the Muslim calendar and 'Ala is a month in the Bahá'í calendar. Bahá'í months are 19 days long.
      Another difference is that because the Islamic calendar is lunar, the month of Ramadan moves around the year.
