I thought she did a good job at first, very decent for a child actress her age and what she lacked in ability she was able to make up for with adorability. But I assume acting is like most things, you need to do it frequently to stay in a good groove. As she got older on ABP especially when she became a teenager and her part lessened, she didn't seem as sharp as when she was on almost every episode and her limitations as an actress kinda showed. Really disappointing her ABP run would end like that.

She was good at the beginning and filled big hole on the show admirably. But later on when the program became a workplace comedy and they had to add Denise Miller because Danielle didn't fit in a show centered at a saloon I think there was some buyers remorse with the Stephanie character as she drifted aimlessly with no real purpose or direction the last season and a half.

I'd luvv for her to write an autobiography and fill in the many blanks of her life and enigmatic career:
Chapter 1 Thru 1983: This part of her life is already fairly well documented. She was pretty much everywhere and highly visible.
Chapter 2 84-86: Archie/Knots Landing fame quickly evaporates. Only brief stints in Grease (84) On the Level & Circus of Stars (85)
Chapter 3 87: Comeback attempt 1. Mama 2, Murder She Wrote, demo record. Instead of revitalizing her career it was like a last hurrah.
Chapter 4 88-91: Plummets further into abyss with only roles Kill Crazy (1988) and brief Florida production of Hair (1989)
Chapter 5 92-94: Comeback attempt 2. Very different & much older looking Danielle reemerges as singer/ musician on Gregg Alexander's 2nd record & her own Arrive All Over You, neither sells.
Chapter 6 95-97: Disappears from public again
Chapter 7 98: Comeback attempt 3. Muted success as part of Alexander's 3rd record released under short lived New Radicals moniker
Chapter 8 99: Comeback attempt 4. RCA balks at solo Portable Life all but ending her 7 year endeavor to get back in spotlight as singer
    Chapter 9 2000-04: Vanishes again
Chapter 10 2005-2021: Comeback attempt 5. Transitions to behind the scenes in music sporadically showing up on Unwritten, etc.

@@lobohobo9218 Growing up in the 80's, there was no doubt an explosion of prime time child star T.V. talent surfaced during that time with too many names to mention here. When I last seen her playing "Steph", she was about this age here and then poof, she disappeared from sight and what seemed from all the other television networks. I would never forget about "Stephanie" even though I never knew her real name. I would then get caught up in these new 80's child stars. With Danielle by this time grown up, I wouldn't know what she looked like even if she was in other founding channel circuit set ups. If you ask me, some of the 80's child star talent that I saw growing up wasn't really all that great compared to Brisebois's beauty THEN and stubborn cuteness.🥰

Danielle must have crossed paths with half of Hollywood in those days not only through her work on Archie but she was also on almost every network special like Get High On Yourself, Circus of the Stars, etc. It just amazes me that even with all those connections, she couldn't find consistent work after ABP and a decade later she'd be travelling the country playing coffee houses in an ill fated attempt to reboot her career as a singer.

She was beginning her 4th season on the show, yet her father had yet to move to LA? It's not like ITT didn't have an office there. Guess it's no surprise her parents would divorce a year later. In an April 1981 interview with People CoC said with the departure of Balsam, lovely Danielle would be relied upon to shoulder additional responsibility. She would have an expanded co-star role with more Archie/ Stephanie home episodes. But in reality the show shifted to additional bar focused stories which meant far fewer scenes involving Stephie Mills not more.

Desperately trying to jump a stalled career she was emancipated at 15 hoping it would increase the number of parts she could be considered for. But Danielle was more interested in boys than balance sheets and not having business savvy, her child actress fortune was left exposed. When she turned 21 she had a mere $10k left.

In a Jan 1986 Star interview lovely Danielle said she was putting her life on hold, ie boys, school, etc to try to jump start her acting career, mentioning specifically that she desperately wanted to get back on TV. After a few minor guest shots a year later she finally landed a recurring role on Days of Our Lives but that only lasted a handful of episodes. I'm guessing that's why she bared it all in Mama II and Kill Crazy; a last ditch attempt to revive her career.

Interviewer was condescending calling her a little girl. Danielle was a very lovely, impressive, and accomplished young lady but this interview ended up being a jinx. Until then she was everywhere, not only ABP, but side projects like City vs. Country and Battle of Network Stars. She also did speeches around the country and sang at high schools. She must have felt unstoppable. Then in a couple years it was unexpectedly over. I'm guessing it had to be incredibly humbling for her at a such a young age being so motivated to go from being one of Hollywood's It girls to career oblivion almost overnight. She was also asked about her father but her parents would soon divorce. Then she speaks of having a business manager to handle her money but she was left in pretty dire financial straits not too long after the series ended.

Danielle is 12 years old ... she is natural, she’s being herself, and it’s nice to hear the way children spoke lo those many years ago. It’s called a conversation, rather than an interview. She’s a sweet kid. And she did an episode of “murder she wrote” and Danielle was very good in it and very beautiful.

    • @lobohobo9218

@@Jasper7182009 She was so cute and classy in this interview; outfit, hair and makeup perfect. It's a good thing I never saw this interview live. When she said she didn't have a boyfriend, I wouldn't have been able to control my 13 year old hormones! I felt so sorry for her on Murder, She Wrote though. Her part was okay, but they gave her awful fake hair and a horrible fake accent. They destroyed her natural beauty. In an early 1986 Star article she mentions putting her entire life on hold trying to jump start her acting career in an attempt to get back on TV. But in very competitive network television those opportunities were exceedingly rare and there were fewer alternatives in those days. I'm guessing her efforts failed which is why she ended up topless in BBM II. Too bad there weren't Hallmark/ Lifetime movies in the 80s & 90s. Many former child actresses that came along a decade later and not anymore talented than Danielle revived their careers going that route after their prime time series days were over.
