If you missed it, last week Kelsey threw a high tea garden party in her backyard, all based off of the fact that the wisteria was blooming. That being said, she needed to give her backyard a lil refresh in order to have people over...

    Professional plant person here.
Gaura is a short lived perennial, usually only lasting about 3 years. But 100% worth planting! Drought tolerant and so dainty when it flowers! I add a new one to my garden every year!
Asparagus Ferns aren't true ferns and actually prefer a fair bit of light. A Peace Lily is a good replacement for that spot.
For the groundcover spot along the driveway, it's hard to say without knowing how much sun it gets, but I'd say it's probably a part sun spot based on the short clip. Also it's a hot and dry area with all that concrete. Creeping thyme would do it IF it gets at least 6hrs of sun. Otherwise a dwarf mondo grass would work better and crowd out any weeds.

Wisteria gives blooms on the last years branches, you need to cut back the green growth (the long tendrills) until the third node. Those nodes will produce the blooms

Part of the problem, I think, for your dead plants, is that you are not breaking up the roots before planting in the ground. You can be pretty brutal 😁 and then spread the roots out into the new hole you've dug.

Love all the contents in general but the outdoor ones are by far my favorites so yeahhhh! A little advice on your Asparagus Fern: it is not a fern and it loves a lot of light (opposite to ferns). So if you move it to a south facing window it will be much more happier. I have mine facing south/west on a bay window in a self watering pot and I have to trim it often because it grows like crazy 😅

Your peonies are very happy that you moved them. They will just continue to spread if they are happy like that. And if you ever need / want to, you can divide the tubers into more plants as well. They don't usually bloom the year you move but the older plants at least should bloom this year and the new ones will bloom next year. Just say nice things to them when you walk past and tell them what a great job they are doing ☺️

Peace lilies usually come about 4 plants to one pot so if you get a really full one you can pot it up and seperate the plants out and have multiple plants for the original price. Also loosen the roots a little when potting/planting as they are usually pot bound and too tight.

We loved our spark for a long time! It's not electric/hybrid because we were/are renters, and charging locations weren't as dependable when we needed a car. It is small! You can fit a lot in it, I had a 1x4 woodworking challenge, and 2 boards just barely fit diagonally with the driver and me in the back. We bought a van in 2021 to move, and it's the main car now. We should see about selling the Spark, but we still have it. I'm just spoiled by the versatility and luxuries and features of the van that it's just the go-to.

I love your channel - your garden and home are beautiful. It's wonderful thinking back to how you have both moved homes afew times and made each one special.
With the plants in your yard, how confident are you as to what aspect your yard faces and how much sun each plant is getting? You need to make sure a plant that actually wants semi shade isn't getting burnt by sitting in the sun. You also need to be wary with exposure to cold winds etc. You'd be surprised where you might find colder pockets even on a sunnier day.
You can find that out by spending a sunny day in the garden and watching how the sun moves through the space throughout the day. For the winds, simply observe on a windy day.
I would also not recommend pots unless they are very large and you don't mind continuing to check them every few days to make sure they don't need more water or they've been overwatered etc. They also need feeding with liquid sea weed for instance after awhile, as they will simply exhaust all the goodness in the soil after awhile. You might get better results for at least some of the larger plants if you lift some slabs in your yard, dig the hole well, work in plenty of compost according to the preference of the plant and then plant them in it. The best time for planting and moving plants is typically Autumn. You can also find great deals for bare root plants online around that time if year too.
I am a seasoned gardener and always have much greater success with plants in the ground, along with less stress (and less loss of money!), as plants seem to just enjoy having more space for their roots and the nutrients in the ground.
Also I think your wisteria looks lovely! You might need to prune it to encourage flowering spurs. Google it and you will find out the correct method and time of year for your particular variety. You typically prune once and then again later on in the year to shorten the same spurs again to encourage flowering spurs. It's a good sign it is flowering though, it can typically take many years before you see wisteria flowering! If you tend to it now, you should see greater blooms in the years to come.

3:18 for your outdoor pots it’s best to pick a plant that is rated two zones lower than yours as they aren’t as well insulated as plants are in the ground. Though I think “zones” are kind of an American thing, I believe there is something similar in Canada 😅.

We just bought a 2019 Nissan Leaf (full electric) a few weeks ago and so far we totally love it! Its a hatchback and pretty spacious, ours has some luxurious touches we've never had before like Apple Carplay and heated seats + steering wheel 😯 We don't live near a city so we were worried about the availability of charging, but since we can charge at home it really hasn't been an issue (generally EVs come with a cable to plug into a regular outlet). I know you're looking more for a hybrid option but thought id throw that out there anyway!

Regarding plants among your walk pathway, the easiest thing MIGHT be to get a battery operated, rechargeable weed trimmer to keep the grass trimmed. If you dig out the grass to plant something else, something like a ground cover Thyme would be nice: one kind is wooly Thyme. BUT it’s really hard to get all the grass roots out and you might end up having to weed the Thyme. Therefore, the simplest thing at this time is to leave the grass and have an easy way to keep in under control

Kelsey! I Switched over to the Ford Fusion Hybrid a few years back and I LOVE it ! The highest trim level (platinum) has a luxury feel, and it has been a SUPER reliable car. I have the non-plug in version (it recharges when you brake) and still get around 40-43 mpg. I have also heard good things about the plug in Ford Fusion (the Energi). I’ve had the car for almost 4 years now and all I’ve ever had to get done are the usual oil changes and new tires. Not sure if you’re a honda girlie and want to stick with that brand, but I am pleasantly surprised with Ford. For reference, I had a Honda accord, and then a Honda fit for years, so I know the honda cars well.

Oh also - the back seats don’t fold flat to the floor like a hatchback would, but they do fold down surprisingly flat. Like enough so that the floor of the trunk and the folded down seats form a pretty level surface.

Hey Kelsey. This may be too late. But I had a Honda Fit and my husband and I loved it. In fact, my husband asked me if he could have it when I wanted a "new" car. I bought a 2018 Honda HRV last year (in dark green, we went with 2018 because they discontinued green after that year). And I looove it. So my new favorite is the HRV. Same back seat reconfiguration options as the Fit. Highly recommend!

Okay Kels... The economics of car buying is buy at 2 years old, and sell at seven, most cars retain their value during this time. As for the walkway, I might suggest woolly thyme. Also, your nursery staff should be able to help direct you to plants best suited for containers. Since container plants will dry out faster, they often require more frequent watering, but they must also have good drainage so as not to get water logged. If the planter doesn't have good drainage, it's better to place a nursery pot directly into the container and cover bare areas with sphagnum moss.

An asparagus fern is not actually a fern, it’s in the asparagus family (like the edible green and white asparagus) it’s just called a fern because of it’s fern like and feathery leaves. It should actually grow well in direct or indirect bright light. It can also store water very well, so it does well if you forget to water it sometimes, but thats also why it doesn’t tolerate wet roots constantly and doesn‘t need high humidizy to thrive. Hope this helps 🌞🌱

I have a Hyundai Kona which I absolutely love. My first car was a Hyundai Elantra hatchback and like you, I absolutely LOVED IT. When I went back in 2021 to get a new lease, I found out they stopped making the Elantra in Hatchback but had come out with the Kona which is kind of a step up from the Elantra but also kinda replaced the hatchback version. I absolutely 10/10 love it and am obsessed. I just checked their website but they only have the Kona in gas or electric, but the next size up which is the Tucson does come in Hybrid! It would be a little bigger than what you’re used to bit not massive in any way. I would recommend Hyundai without hesitation, this is my 3rd car from them, and my parents have had 2 now as well!

I have a 2012 Toyota Prius which is a hybrid and I LOVE it. It was my dad's before me and it still runs like new. I don't have to worry about plugging it up and get gas very rarely. And when I do it significantly cheaper than a regular gas car. Seats fold down in the back and give huge trunk space. I think you can actually fit a queen size bed back there when it's folded down. Hope that helps on your car journey 💕

I had a Honda Fit For 10 years. She was my first new car and I loved her. I got a Toyota Prius Echo about 2 years ago and love her. I test drove a few hybrids and they either didn’t have enough umph in the engine or were too small. My Prius drives well, has great space in the trunk and back seat, and gets an average of 56-62 MPG. There are a lot of choices out there in the hybrid and electric market, good luck!

Just get a hybrid RAV4. It’s an SUV. Ravs use to be small. I also have a 20 year old Rav... still going strong. My point is that the new ones are not so compact, but they are very drivable and gas mileage is amazing. Also, SUVs are nice when You have to drive in weather that most people will stay home in. I’m a nurse, so I have to drive in bad weather. I had a Mazda5 with standard trans, that I loved driving, but it wasn’t great in the snow. I’m in Philadelphia, pa, so we don’t get the kind of snow you get on the regular, but that means we probably don’t get the kind of snow removal your area is capable either. It can get dicey. Good luck on you car quest 😊
Oh, and get a grow-light for your bathroom, you’ll replace less plants.
