I've only just found Nick, I've been looking for a way to calm my mind and structure to my life. And over the past few weeks I've found that the daily tasks that I do now are done properly, like making the bed first thing in morn to housework being done correctly, that goes along way to settling the mind, and also his teachings calm my mind and bring me right back to living in the now. Thank you so much! This year was a year of recovery for myself after a hard time/grief in 2020-2021. 2022 was year i started to journal everyday! And scheduled AM or/and PM meditation. I realised scheduling this time for myself made a huge difference to commit fully. I am a people person who looked after others first than my own. When faced with hardship I realised I was on my own to suffer, I didn’t know how to help/know myself. I also saw the patterns of my thoughts (often it was self-doubt and anxiety about what I couldn’t control outside of myself). Collecting data on myself everyday on paper was such a simple thing but it really changed how I lived this year. And meditation I started 13/14 months ago when I found your channel - i was so amazed how we were not taught about this top skill before at school, its so important🥺… So I’m soooo grateful for your time to teach all of this - I really go back to alot of your videos whenever I’m feeling lost or lacking of energy. Most of the time the answer was focus on myself, write and meditate, and keep practising and show up for myself. I learnt so much and this channel had been a sanctuary this year 🤍 thank you & biggest love !!!

Thank you Ven Nick. Welcome to Singapore. I have been keeping a routine of meditation twice a day, an hour each for morning and evening. Just as you have suggested, listening to Dhamma talk via youtube. You are right about not knowing about ourselves until when I started meditation then I realised "oh.. this is how i function".

Thank you so much for the wisdom you share. 😊 I love buddhism because its so much about developing the mind/spirit/perception and getting to know oneself to be better overall in the world (even tho Im not buddhist myself). I recently started a routine of simple yoga and meditation where I got up earlier to practice and I could already feel after some days how much it helped. Due to stress I kinda stopped but now I look forward to reintegrate it into daily practice again. Blessings to you Nick and everyone else here in the comments 🤍🕊️💌

The difference between how we think we are and how we are perceived by others can be astounding! If I may, I would add observing other people. Not as a detective or a doctor, but the whole person. This may be in real life or through novels (the classics are always excellent studies of personality). A curious mind would naturally contrast itself with the observed subjects: "Am I like that too?" "How would I react in that situation?" And even "I would love to be more like this or that person". 🙏🏼
Dear Nick, thank you so much for that valuable clip. It reminds me of the wise ancient Greek Philosopher Socrates who said „ man, know thyself“, your clip explains about the tools one must use to reach that goal. Thank you once more. If the whole world would follow your instructions, there would be no more wars, hatred, strife, hunger, poverty … etc. in the world, on the contrary, there would be more joy, peace, love, prosperity, wealth & opulence in the world. Dear Mr Nick, thank u so much for your advices and tutorials. I stepped into buddhism a few months earlier due to an event happening to me. So, I took it easy with stepping in, implementing part by part, though disciplined, it does very good to me, I got convinced, it bears a rational logic to me what buddhism is offering. Now, what I am primarily struggling with is the outside. Forgiveness, one love, being friendly, unconditional: I got the impression to live in a narcisstic world, people I talk to deliver their speech, how good they are, how successful they are, big mouth without substantial size, I perceive it as a one way show, just presenting and no interest for mutual conversation. It hurts me, it creates anger in me. I turn around, move on and try to forget, although I am clear that I can not get rid of the outside world. Do I need to talk listen understand to everybody anybody just to cope with buddhist principles? How do you deal with narcisstic characters? How did your behaviour change from your past to current times? Thank you for your thoughts, best regards from Austria. Marcus
LG 🕊️
Thank you Venerable Nick, another lovely dharma video. The items on your list I struggle to practice are journaling and feedback. One is my own doing, I find it difficult to journal and I don’t know why yet. The second is feedback as I don’t really have anyone to ask for an unbiased, knowledgeable, and objective opinion. 🙏
Thank you so much Ven. Nick. You make a lot of sense with your approaches on putting yourself under a microscope. It's really feel like it's possible to figure out your own soul's algorithm with the combination meditation and journaling. This is the door to happiness. Thanks again.
One the tools I develop is a daily. In this daily I writing my spirituals experinces. The spirituals experiences for my are painfuls facts wich help my to refletions about my performance in this painful facts with a conssiences that this aren't my True essence. The True essences is the absolut True. And now writing this I reflecting that perhaps be interesting to do the same with the happy facts. Thank you!

Nick, you are such a beautiful soul...I could just feel the sincerity when you were urging us to follow your guidance....I wish i had the mental purity and strength like you. I am and shall continue trying...May you be blessed 🙏
Hi Nick! Wonderful video as usual 🙏…….I had two questions: 1. Do you with all your discipline and daily practice still suffer from ruminations, anxiety etc? 2. Do you believe we have a true self or are we just multiple selves depending on the scenario? Thank you once again, I am retraining as a Psychotherapist and your videos alongside all the other usual models and psychological literature have been so useful for my own journey with doubt, fear, anxiety. ❤😀
Thank you so much for the wisdom and guidance you have imparted in this video. It's great a help to my journey towards my learning of myself, and the teachings of Buddha. May your kindness and generosity of wisdom and knowledge bring forth better health, and more blessings to you. Thank you so much.
At our recent Rohatsu Shessin, here in Denver, I had a wonderful journey, some hard travels, we recently, and since we have older practitioners. Unfortunately, two people got sick, one with Covid, and another, who was just sick, but, for some reason, had a nasty thick cough for the day. I neither got sick nor did I have covid, even after testing twice, but I thought I knew how to be kind. But, I gained knowledge, and it wasn't easy either. Initially, I thought okay because Roshi Karin asked me to wear a mask, but I've got a large round face, just like grandma, but the mask we had didn't fit, so I went home on the train to get some. But on the way back, my ego kicked in with my intellect, and was upset when got back to the Zendo, one idea was, wait a minute, so I've got to wear it when meditating but then when eating lunch or working, I don't have to, how is that safe cause if do have covid or flu then I'll be exposing everyone, this is just some sort of placebo for those who are freaking out... But, then it sunk in when sitting, that is not what the Buddha would do, that is not the middle way, even if you're not sick if that makes everyone else at for a few more days ease then is it will it really ruin your time in the retreating girl? And the answer was no, and along with some other stuff that happened, it was a good and needed humbling. Later, me and my Roshi, talking, said there is a difference between knowing and knowledge, and she said absolutely, and I feel-think that's what happened. So yes it can be a circle, or in my case, I thought I understood the mountain as was, and I thought I was closer to the peak on my path, but, the clouds parted, and it scared me at first to go wow, you've come along way, but now with the clearer site, you've got a ways to go, and that's okay, but for a moment it scared me, humbled me, I had to sit with it, then thankfully, a Dharma sister sat next to me, and I just felt her and went it's okay, get up, keep practicing, remember one breath in and one breath out, stay in the moment, and it will be okay, empty yourself and entrust in the three jewels. Gassho
Thank you ven. Nick for this psychotherapy which is most needed in today's world you are so fortunate to have this education and work experience to give to the world as a Buddhist monk for the rest of us is going grocery shopping in the morning eat what you gathered then clean and aggravate each other😃😀
Thank you so much for this wonderful guide video. I am looking forward to watch and leran more about your wisdom for life in the future🌠 Have a good start into the fresh new year 2023
Vandami 💐🙏you take much efforts, thinks deeply to present everything in orderly manner. Thank you. When we start becoming detached, we think about ourself deeply. We understand true nature of everything & don't wish to involve in the trap of life cycle. When we realise that One thing leads to another, that time we quit everything. We know this will never end unless we leave it. We start doing deeper work on ourself. Lots of Metta to all beings to remain happy & free from suffering
thankyou Ajahn Nick - yes i thought meditation was relaxation but in fact it would be so useful to be able to do neutral observation . Naturally i will intantly make judgments/ assessments every person i see, some good but many not good merelly my ego boosting itselft through false superiorit . I would like to be free of instant negative judgments of others.
Thank you so much Nich Satoh for the good tools you recommended. I saw you in SG and it was fantastic. Im eager to keep learning in my process and hopefully meet you some day again. Thank you very much

You are so welcome. Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much for the wisdom and guidance you have imparted in this video.

Wonderful my friend. Yes please keep practicing 😊
This is on repeat for me. Thank you for your clarity & patience, Venerable Nick.
