    Why no video on the Purina crisis? A lot of other brands have been suspected including Hills.

      Oh, just about every brand is being included. I try and keep my videos to the things I know. That’s why I don’t do a separate video on grain free diets and DCM. More questions than answers! I’m a little suspicious to be honest, considering where the loudest voices are coming from. The social media monster is out of control so it’s hard who to believe. It’s very unlikely something could be in so many brands. This is not 07 when Menu Foods was producing canned product for a number of companies. And Purina’s response is financial suicide if they were knowingly stall or hiding information. So if I made a video it would simply be a big question mark. But I appreciate you asking.

      @@Jenny-fg2ut there’s a whole industry now, using lies and fear, to get people to buy their food or services. It’s really sad. Pet parents don’t have the time and energy to sift thru fact and fiction so they are susceptible to what looks or sounds good. That’s why there’s my channel and Dr Rea’s AnimakDocRea!

    There are so many creators on TikTok who are obsessed with ingredient panels. It’s actually exhausting listening to them. When comparing foods each consumer needs to compare the dry matter nutrients. The ingredients are secondary. Also if you have a senior pet you are going to want to look at the nutrients even more. There’s so much for people need to learn beyond just the ingredients. I really am new to all of this and enjoy learning about nutrients and what they do for your pets at the different stages in their lives.

      @@PetFoodPuzzleGuy - yes, I've discovered this from your videos. Once I call the companies, am I comparing the actual numbers of each brand or is there a range for the number to fall within? For example, keep phos at .75%. I have zero idea how many grams that is. Is there a calculation you can share?

    I used to be a sucker for “Top 5 Ingredients Because Your Chihuahua is a Wolf”. My dogs are much healthier now with balanced food such as Science Diet and Pro Plan. Sure the ingredients do not look as impressive as others but theres a science to it. It just works.

    Sam owns a chain of pet food stores in northeast England. People and pets are designed to process organic minerals and vitamins from real food. It's nearly impossible to overload on real nutrients as they are not very bioavailable. Too much of the inorganic synthetic stuff in your favorite processed pet foods is dangerous. Corn futures are down 4% YTD. Hill's shareholders will like that.

    • @PetFoodPuzzleGuy
      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, since Sam is talking about commercial kibble, we can agree. The excesses are much more harmful. It makes sense since meat is not as concentrated as meat meal. So do you agree with my Buffet Effect? lol!

    The buffet idea is a great concept. If I take my dog to a buffet he is going straight to the meat.
    Would that not be a point you need to look at.
    I'm no raw advocate but a well balanced diet is the best.
    Ya, as a farmer of corn I want to pay for meat to feed my dog not corn.

    • @PetFoodPuzzleGuy
      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You actually answered your own question! Your dog would undoubtedly head for the meat. If I’m honest, I’d head for the deserts before the meat!!! But your dog and I need a healthy balanced diet, and you just said that’s what you want for him. Nature can keep him alive in the wild. Nutrition Science can keep him alive longer and even help manage the age related diseases that come later. Thanks for being a farmer!

      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy I agree we can better our pets with supplements and balance and not just red meat.
      There definitely is better quality kibble than others you can just see it in their 💩 when you try a different food for awhile.
      This whole thing about corn is a lil over the top forsure and one lady tried to tell me we spray roundup on dry corn and beans and that's getting into petfood.
      You sound like a reasonable voice on here for pet food.
      So thanks in return 🙏.

    • @420growers3
      @420growers3 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy roundup is to kill weeds. It is usually sprayed early in the season when weeds are starting to grow. A corn plant would only be a foot tall max.
      Point being is there is no grain to be sprayed at that point, nor would any farmer want to waste the $$$ spraying a finished dry crop. It would be useless, absolutely nothing to gain.
      I understand the concern with roundup, and no one want to eat that shit. But just like the pet food industry, lack of proper info makes for some good rumors.

    • @420growers3
      @420growers3 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy roundup gets sprayed very early on in the season, sometimes even before the plants are out of the ground to kill the weed.
      There are no kernels at that point to even get sprayed.
      No farmer is going to spray roundup on dry finished crop, it makes no sense nor is there any benefit.
      I get that no one want to eat this crap but just like dog food, lack of info leads to rumors.
      Wheat can get fungicides sprayed on the grain heads depending on the season if it's to wet to prevent mold out in the field.
      IDK what to say, we would rather not spray a thing on crops but then we wouldn't have a crop to harvest.

    I think some of these over obsessed pet owners are just not accepting that dogs are primarily genetically flawed and some are subsequently riddled with issues as are humans, we are our genes and some have great genes and some unfortunately don't and suffer illnesses that could be perceived as coming from diet or lifestyle when in most cases its just hereditary. Sure businesses can skimp on quality for profit but as you said businesses also want to make money and aren't going to wisely do stuff to jeopardize that and when they do, fix the issue and make sure it doesn't happen again. Sometimes scandalously paid consultants who know nothing about the business they are hired to consult just on ways to become more profitable and sometimes in the case of the pet food industry it could mean a different ingredient in place of a more expensive one but has more side effects or is a lesser quality and doesn't deliver as promised. Rather then playing it safe and use what works and is making them profitable and in business with satisfied customers, sometimes being overly ambitious can lead to the perception of greed and mismanagement that escalates into fear and anxiety with the aforementioned pet owners. Think for yourself, question everything and inform yourself of what actually is rather then what is felt ✌🏽❤
