- Contrary to popular beliefs, when you wash your starter locs, they loc better and faster.
Water is a locking agent. The best locking agent.
The reason starter locs take 6 Months to 1 year to loc is because they are washed 12 times or less in 1 year.
If you wash weekly, in 12 weeks, your dreadlocks will be matured as they would be in 1 year.
I could be lying, but how would you know if you have never tried this? Huh?
I dare you to try and see what happens.
I'm speaking from experience. I'm not guessing or hoping. I know exactly what I'm talking about.
Try it. Your locks will florish, and as a loctician, your clients will thank you.
Plus, it's hygiene. We going to argue about hygiene? All that hand sanitiser in covid is forgotten.
Wash your starter locs. Develop a habit of washing and keep the habit in your loc journey.

I only have locs for a month, the moment I did my first wash I swear my hair looks like Goku 😂 but they feel fuller and lighter, so I’m going to follow his advice. His hit looks to good for me to not consider.

I definitely didn't because I knew my hair would fall apart....look my hair 356 to actually loc tight! (started from 8" afro)
I waited 4 weeks before I even thought about wetting my hair, I started my loc journey 2 months ago and it’s already starting to lock up I just wet it in the shower with water, no shampoo until it’s fully locked tho. Also DO NOT USE BEESWAX, I use loc gel. Also make sure you oil your roots with hair growth oil or tree tea oil every 2-3 days
No use shampoo and conditioner it won’t come undone it might on the tips but not the roots

But what if you have fine hair? Water makes my hair is curly and the moisture in the air makes my hair unravel.
Nah this might sound counterintuitive but if you have a looser curl pattern you are going to need to wash your hair a little more often. Dont be afraid of it unraveling that's what those first few retwist are for.
What method did you use to start them?
If you use two strand and comb coils they’ll unravel if you use instant locs it doesn’t matter when you wash your hair it will look the same

Spray it sea salt water, your dreads will lock up fast

I got instant starter locs July 6, 2023 the loctician used the dreadlock machine gun. I washed my hair and started using Rosewater Peppermint spray for loc maintenance and moisture and the back of my hair as well as the ends have unraveled. I'm going to another Loctician to have my hair repaired. Is the Crochet needle better?

I want to wash mine been 1 month but my hair is stubborn it is always coming loose I have to fight with it to make it lock so I feel like it's definitely gonna come loose. That's why I waited a while for the wash.
