This is exactly what I've been doing since starting my locs 21 years ago. I wash once or twice a week, oil only when damp and massage. I love the feel and smell of my hair. I dont understand how anyone can walk around with a dirty scalp. Its skin.

Love it 🥰 I’m on round two of locks and I washed my locks all the time. I plan to do the same this time around and I love that you advocate cleanliness. The folks that go weeks and months with no cleansing for their hair just don’t get it.

I know you’ve been around for many years, even before I decided to loc, now I am locing for 5 & 1/2 years & just the other day was desiring & wising for someone to demonstrate how to properly oil my gorgeous locs!!!! I do massage & oil as well but did not think about my affirmations, etc that I read everyday!!!!!
    &
Incorporate this when pampering/oiling my locs & scalp!
    Merci Beaucoup Sir Kris McDred!!!

I agree with everything you saying but I don’t need to over wash my hair. I wash mine twice a week. (2-3) times a month cause I experience over drying my hair and scalp is dry. My hair Drinks natural oils. So my hair is naturally curly and THICK, it’s clean and I do it just as you are doing yours in the video. However, I spray and moisturize my Locs every day with natural spring water with a spray bottle (spirtz motions ) and then add to the scalp. My hair thanks me 😅😅. And I am Pescatarian 🌱. I drink lots of water. No alcohol. Working on 7 yrs now. I pray over it body and hair , I am extremely spiritually. I use coconut 🥥 oil as well. My hair is only been 3 yrs and 4 months and down my back and past my shoulders. ❤❤❤❤ Thank you for this.

Gratitude King. I am starting my loc journey and would hear different things about how often or not so often to wash hair in order for it to start "budding" it is good to hear that it is okay to wash it more often than not, especially for freeform. Which I chose because it is more authentic and feels better for me. Due to me having thin strains (not thinning hair) I have a lot of fly aways and was trying to figure out how to work with it. Now I know. I am going to try Interlocking. I have a question, how often should I interlock? Again, gratitude. Also, may I speak positivity to you? No longer shall you say bless. You, we have not been created to b--less, only increase (Ibukun), we are above (from above) the head ( on top). So, King, no longer b--less yourself or our people. We only Increase. Humble Gratitude,

I have locs the same length as Kris, freeform. I maintain them with the same process but once per week. If Kris says more, that's all I need to hear 😊. Man is a loc prophet lol - keep up the great sharing my friend! Also... this was some def unintentional ASMR.
Edit: I let my hair dry almost all the way before oiling, like he said, water and oil don't mix lol. Then the oil can soak in instead of doing it wet or wet-ish and having it make a kind of messier mix that takes longer to dry. I air dry.

Hey Brotha, I was wondering…..(I’m about to start my loc journey. As a sensitive skin, currently loose natural, I could never put that much oil in my hair/on my scalp. Is oiling your hair that way something you would do as a loose natural, or is it because your hair is locked??
**side note** For people who want that lightness of that water/oil blend. If they use an emollient like BTMS they can successfully combine the two. Sensitive skin and allergies had me making my own products. You can also use your favorite water-based leave-in + water, trick. I often mix a bit of my own oil into the leave-in assuring it’s well mixed, then add water/aloe/rose water. Since the leave-in is water based, it already has an emulsifier AND a preservative. So it’s a kewl shortcut. Would that still work for me once I’m locked??
In case you’re wondering, no it doesn’t leave a white cast. It absorbs well and easily into my hair.
Thanks for your videos they have been very informative.
