    This is a good one. Basically the TL;DR is, you get some money, you get a break on taxes, and you get a big break on buying a (new) car which matters if cars are your thing. You don't get a free house, you get a modest amount of money that's helpful but it's not riches. Me, if I get to make Aliyah, I plan to save, save, save that money. I make $20K a year in "Silicon Valley" here in California, and I manage to save at least 1/3 of it. I ride a bike, cook at home (Butane stoves, like my beloved Iwatani, are cheaper to cook on than using "the electric") I do my laundry by hand (laundromats are expensive!) and if there's anything I'd buy with the initial bonus of money, it might be a good radio and a good trumpet as my plan is to travel so "lean" that I'd not even take my faithful horn with me. I'll end up living in a single rented room or maybe some tiny apartment that I'm able to get because it has less than zero parking or something.

      Are these benefits available to non Jews who immigrate to Israel?

    • @grasmereguy5116
      @grasmereguy5116 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@paws315 If they are non-Jewish spouses who immigrate with a Jewish spouse under the Law of Return, yes, or if they are non-Jews who are eligible to immigrate to Israel as the children or grandchildren of Jews but not considered Jewish under Jewish religious law (which assigns Jewish status based on being born to a Jewish mother or who convert to Judaism). Immigrants to Israel under the Law of Return get these limited benefits. Not all immigrants under the Law of Return are Jewish, but they have family connections to Jews as described above.
      Other people sometimes immigrate legally to Israel, e.g., through marriage to an Israeli citizen (whether that citizen is Jewish or non-Jewish) or being sponsored by an employer and eventually gaining permanent residency and citizenship after many years, but they are not immigrants under the Law of Return and thus ineligible for the "Absorption Basket" immigrant benefits package.
      However, returning citizens who have lived abroad for a lengthy period of time also receive benefits (tax breaks, etc. ) after a number of years' absence. The same benefits apply to non-Jewish citizens who return as Jewish citizens.

    Hello Cory, I’ve recently watched a documentary that discussed ‘Operation Magic Carpet’ and the allegations regarding the missing Yemenite children. As a Yemeni Arab, I am particularly interested in understanding how this part of history has impacted the Yemenite Jewish community. Could you ask Yemenite Jews if they are aware of these historical events, whether they have ever questioned the legitimacy of their familial relationships, and if there is any resentment towards the government for how they were treated? I believe that exploring these questions could provide deep insights into the enduring effects of this period on Yemenite culture and identity. Thank you

      Hi :) I really hope Cory sees your comment and makes a video, it's such an important topic. I'm not Yemenite, but I'm Israeli with many Yemenite friends, and literally every single Yemenite person I know has been affected. Many have siblings who've gone missing, I even know one person who realized he was kidnapped as a baby (took a DNA test recently). Also, it's not just Yemenites! I’m happy to answer that. Your question is loaded one. So let me humour you. If I was a terrorist that carried out terrorist activities, I know full well what the consequences are. If you mean, does the owner of the house get to kick me out if I haven’t paid rent in a while or I’ve made illegal extensions or alterations to the place? I would see in my rental agreement that those actions will get me kicked out of my house like any rental agreement anywhere in the world. If you mean being told by the Jordanian army to temporarily leave my house so they can ethically cleanse the village of Jews, and things didn’t go according to plan….well, they’re the consequences. Now ask anyone in the Arab world how they feel about killing hundreds of thousands of Jews, stealing their land and taking their property, possessions and businesses. Ask them what happened to their Jewish communities that were there for thousands of years. Well, I’m so glad I was able to help you out. I’m going for a walk in Tel Aviv now, where I will see Jews, Arabs, Kurds, Bedouins and many others live in a free society. Cheers 🥂

    As I see it there is a solution for this crisis. The international community needs to come togheter and put an UN peace keeping force that separates the two and prevents fighting happening from both sides. This is the short-term solution. The Long-term solution is a one state where all rights are guaranteed under Israeli law and in accordance with international law or a 1967 boarder with two states that is separated by an international peace keeping force but I don't think Israelis will agree to this so a one state solution is the only solution as I see it.
    The Palestinians should have the right of return to the land that was stolen from them and given the same rights as any Israelis. This is common sense. Those people have ancestry that goes back thousand hundred of years and should have the same rights has any European or an American Jew who wants to settle there. May the Lord of peace guide both sides. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

    • @olterigo

      Israelis won't agree to this because 1. they don't believe that the laws and rules will be equally and honestly enforced by such international force. 2. no right of return for Palestinians into Israel. When I first started really getting interested in this history if this region, I imagined that my objectively as an outsider would give me an advantage in understanding the issues in play. What I quickly came to realize however was that trying to look at this century long conflict from a global/macro perspective was getting me no closer to truly appreciating.the events that got us to the point where we are today. If your reaction is any indication, you are looking through that same flawed lens.
      Not only does this approach tend to reframe history from a 2024 perspective, it tends to omit a lot of the relevant context, particularly if you are more familiar with one side's narrative. What I gave instead found is that you have to take the time to imagine the issue purely from the Arab perceptive of that time AND separately from the Israeli perspective of that time BEFORE trying to meld those two distinct views together. Often you will find that both perspectives are correct they are just blind to the way it looked from the other side of the divide.
      Since you clearly have imagined this from the Arab pov already, I challenge you now to imagine it from the perspective of the Jewish leader.
      The story for our purposes begins in 1917 when the League of nations elects to.legally dividing the region of.the palestine in to two parts, assigning. 80% to the kingdom of Jordan and dedicating the remaining 20% of the re-establishment of a Jewish homeland. At the time, the Arab population in the holy land consisted of roughly 400,000 people, a number that would be difficult but not impossible for Israel to absorb as a minority population should most fail to migrate over to Jordan as the king had sworn they would. Unfortunately with every day that passes thereafter, the Jews are new reasons to worry because the British keep pumping the breaks on jewish immigration in order to appease the Arabs and using the Arab violence in the region to in turn justify delaying the transfer of power that would formally establish the new state.
      As.the world finds itself sliding in to WW2, the Jews once again pick up arms and fight along the British to help them save the British homeland, even as the British are honoring their agreement with the Arabs not to allow any further jewish immigration in to the holy land during this time and even as the Palestinian mufti and his men are not only actively.joining the SS but they have violently dispossessed 150,000 Jews from their homes in Baghdad.
      As WW2 reaches its end, a war weary British government has decided it is very much done with the region, but in order for the British to extricate themselves they must finally deal with the problem they had long been kicking down the proverbial road, one with three distinct prongs to it. 📍On the first prong the British drove the decision to give 80% of the Palestinian lands to jordan based on the premise that the Arabs in the holy land would willingly choose to migrate and the British have no intention of fighting with their new ally over the fact that this did not happen. 📍On prong number 2 there is the failure of the British government to prevent arab migration in to the territory all throughout the mandate period, despite the land having been legally set aside for Israel. While absorbing 400,000 Arabs as a minority population would have been a challenge, absorbing nearly 1.3 million Arabs was an impossibility📍on prong 3 you have a massive population of Jewish refugees with nowhere to go, people who were already in the pipeline to migrate when the Arab revolt led to British to illegally halt immigration, people who had survived the Holoc*ust and needed a safe refuge and the rest of the nearly 1 million Jews who the Arabs had being systematically driving out the ME just as they had been driven out of Baghdad.
      Seeing partition as their only solution, the British go back to the Jews and inform them that the only way for their people to hold on to any portion of the land...LAND THAT HAD BEEN LEGALLY PLEDGED TO THEM THREE DECADES PRIOR...was to give up HALF of it to a community that now PRIMARILY COMPRISED OF ECONOMIC MIGRANTS. These were people who had secured lands for their people in places like Syria Egypt Lebanon and Iraq and were now demanding the Jews give up their share. With all the refugees desperate for help and accepting the idea "that half a loaf was better than none" they say yes AND STILL THEY GET ATTACKED.
      Having survived the effort to genocide their people, they now exist as a state and immediate have a million refugee they need to resettle. There was no UNRWA money or un programs to resettle these people, there was just a stock of rental properties to which the tenant farmers who had inhabited them were not going to be allowed to return.
      But what about the people who Had been renting them? Most had fled without ever seeing a Jewish soldier and Israel was under no obligation to take them back. Had the Israeli government never given those homes away, they just would have say there while their own people suffered (which btw Jordan did with some of the Jewish homes in the WB that people could not safely return to claim. Israel is obligated to pay out compensation (which will be low since local Arabs only owned 3% of the land but Israel has said they will only pay when their people received compensation for the many homes they actually had stolen out from under them throughout the region. Don't you think it's odd that Morocco for example never offered up the homes they stole from Moroccan Jews to the Palestinians?
      When you look at it through the Israeli perspective and through the arab perspective then you should see it as reasonable that EVERYONE. who had their home taken deserves to be compensated. They land won't be theirs but their deserve to be made while.

    • @grasmereguy5116
      @grasmereguy5116 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope, nope, nope!.
      US "aid" to Israel is in the form of credits which can only be used to buy weapons from American arms manufacturers. In essence it is a subsidy from the USA to the USA, since it can only be spent pumping up the US defense industry. Israel, meanwhile has its own robust defense industry. Now, I don't say that Israel doesn't benefit from this relationship, but it is really overstated. Israel would do fine without the US aid.
      As a total, the US annual budget is something like 6 trillion dollars a year. So the approximately 3 billion the USA gives Israel to buy US weapons amounts to about 0.05% of the US budget. Anti-Israel Americans think all their money is going to Israel and it is hardly anything.
      In turn, the US aid to Israel represents about 15% of the Israeli military budget alone, which is surely an appreciable chunk but it is not like Israel can't manage without it. As a total percentage of the Israeli annual budget, it's about 0.600% of (these are rough numbers).
      So, Israel has a stong economy, its citizens and corporations pay taxes, Jews from around the worldwide also send help buy buying Israel Bonds and things like that and it can finance aid packages for new immigrants. It isn't coming out of American taxpayer pockets.

      The Hebrews are the descendants of Eber, the Israelites, the Ishmaelites, the Edomites, the Moabites, the Ammonites, the Midionites, the Idumeans, the Kedarites etc. *None of them black people.*
      Abraham was an Aramean. The Arameans are alive today, *they are White Christians.* Abraham married his half-sister, Sarah. Sarah is described in scripture as *_"white and lovely" with "white full breasts and white shapely thighs"_* Abraham and Sarah had a son, Isaac. He was a full Aramean. Isaac married his cousin, Rebecca. Rebecca is the sister of *Laban (white man).* Isaac and Rebecca had a son, Jacob. Jacob married 2 sets of sisters, Leah, Rachel and Zilpah and Bilhah, both sets daughters of *Laban (white man).* They were all Arameans.
      *_The 12 sons of Jacob became the 12 tribes of Israel. None of them were Black men. You can't prove this wrong. The Black Africans are not Israelites, there is not one piece of evidence for this falsehood._*

      The Ottomans had NOTHING called Palestine for their 400 years of rule. The land was divided into 3 to 5 Sanjaks (provinces), none called Palestine. The Sanjaks were ruled by the Ayalet of Damascus, Syria, and the land was known as Southern Syria.
      Before the Ottomans, the Mamluks had NOTHING called Palestine. Before the Mamluks, the Crusaders had NOTHING called Palestine. That is over 1000 years with NOTHING called Palestine. The Christian West called the Holy Land as Palestine from the 1800s, the people living there did not!!

      The Arab leaders told them to leave, that they would kill all the Jews and then they could come back. btw in 1945 Hitler signed a contract with Al-Huseini about this. The contract was discovered in 1947 and had an impact on what the League of Nations did in agreeing to the nation of Israel. They had to admit there was world wide a problem with leaders using Jews as scapegoats. You can find copies of those news papers on Google. It was headline news in 1947.

      genius-Not, Israel gets No money from the US, they get credit to use on military goods. The money never leaves the US, it pays US salaries and taxes for US manufacturers. Israel acts as Research and development for the US manufacturers, using the military goods in real life situations.
      Israel receives less than 3% of its GDP as US aid, if you think that aid of credits goes to people, you go live on less than 3% of your salary.

    • @drunklittlesheep
      @drunklittlesheep หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      No Israeli taxpayers. US aid to Israel is old US military gear or "coupons" to buy stuff from US weapons manufacturers

    • @grasmereguy5116
      @grasmereguy5116 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope.
      US "aid" to Israel is in the form of credits which can only be used to pucrhcase weapons from American arms manufacturers.
      As a total, the US annual budget is something like 6 trillion dollares a year.
