Sorry, but as a person who tried all those Tools for years, i do not fully agree with you. Your video feels more like an ad for Webflow to be honest.
First, talking about Wordpress is important to talk wich Builder you use to design your website, because this is crucial. The best ones for WP are Elementor and Oxygen. Oxygen Logic is very similar to Webflows, Elementor is drag & drop and very easy to use. Without this Builders Wordpress is just a Blog, not a site builder.
If somebody is interested about real differences (Webflow vs. Elementor vs. EditorX), comment and i will write it from my perspective.

My thoughts exactly while watching this video. For example, why does he say you Have to use coding for WordPress. Not true. A WordPress DESIGNER is not using code. There are website builders that many designers use, such as elementor. Zero code.

Most hosting comes with free SSL so WP will most likely also have free SSL. And Woo-Commerce which is ecom for WordPress is free also payment mechanism might come with per transaction cost but I think all of them have something along those lines.

I use webflow a lot - and I run into huge limitations on every new project. If they dont up their game soon tools like editor x will eat them alive. No multilanguage support, no members area, no plugins very limited functionality on the end-customers side when it comes to adding new content (no image cropping for ex). The standard webflow forms are a bad joke and webflow absoluetely doesn‘t care for non-US customers. So things like dsgvo or gdpr are more or less ignored. Maybe if you‘re only working with US-clients webflow is a good option - but for the rest uf us - spend your money elsewhere.

    • @georgy.design
      @georgy.design 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I'm not that experienced with Webflow, but I would say that Webflow adds new stuff quite fast. Multilanguage support and user areas are their primary goals right now. As for the integrations: as far as I know, Webflow is kinda poor in that regard, but there are lots of workarounds. Yes, they are workarounds, non-native solutions, but it still gets the job done.
“Very limited functionality on the end-customers side” - again, Webflow works on that, but I do agree that making UGC-driven websites might be a hassle right now.
I’m not sure about Webflow forms, I guess they are okay.
However, I totally agree with your statement on their attitude to non-US customers: so many services are so focused on being American that they completely miss the rest of the world. What I mean is that I can’t know how well Webflow works in China or Russia, but I need to check the forums or Google it - it sucks, I want to know such stuff on their website. GDPR is a huge thing. I didn’t know about DSGVO, but that’s one of those local examples. Ecommerce: I’m still unsure how well ecommerce works in Russia and China. There are lots of little things that you need to care about when making country-specific websites. I mean it’s okay and Webflow can’t take a look at all of the details, but I would appreciate it if they tried at least.
I still think that Webflow works amazingly well. Webflow evolves, they add new features, still waiting for memberships and multilanguage support. GDPR, some other specific stuff is achievable through 3rd party services and tools. Again, I didn’t use Editor X and I do not have lots of experience with Webflow.

Awesome explanation!! I’m binge watching your videos. I’m new and Wordpress was overwhelming. I have my site setup in WP but going to stage it in Webflow to learn. I think you hit the nail on the head with general maintenance and not needing all these 3rd party plugins and hoping they all integrate. Honestly by the time you pay for a few basic extras in WP it actually cost more then Webflow. Again great videos!! Keep up that good work!!

This is very helpful, thank you! I am learning Webflow at the moment (steeeep learning curve!), and thought all my trouble would prove to be in vain. So I’ll keep on learning, hoping Webflow will be inspired by the possibilities of Editor X.

15:04 I would put it another way: webflow + editor x = coding not possible. Wordpress = coding optional. Also wordpress is the only option where you can chose your own server which has many benefits, GDPR compliance for example. Dont get me wrong I really like the webflow editor, but you can get almost the same with wordpress combined with oxygen builder, and that combination is in my opinion the best for you and your clients - by far ;-)

A very detailed comparison of platform options, much appreciated.
However, my needs are more personal, and I wondered if you could point me in the right direction.
During lockdown here in the UK, now in my retirement, I decided to create a family tree-plus, meaning not only have I created a lineage mapping as far back as 1841 for the four main families, I also have created Word Docs with images of; formal documents, postcards, and letters, requesting people's recollections, and adding them too.
My idea of a website would be something that near and distant families could refer to, offering more documentation to me, to be added as and when received.
This project would never be a money making exercise, with this in mind do you have any suggestions as to which path I should take?
    Kind regards

While I can see the benefits of Webflow, this comparison feels unfairly weighted a little too heavily in favor of it. The question marks next to the eCommerce next to Wordpress make no sense to me, given the size and reliability of the WooCommerce plugin. To be fair, I despise the frequent updating of Wordpress plug-ins so the peace-of-mind of set-and-forget platforms is worth a lot. Unfortunately so is an incredibly powerful and nearly limitless platform like Wordpress. Thanks for your breakdown though - I certainly learned something new about how to think about each platform.

Great channel - but Webflow is not all that people crack it up to be. Editor X will overtake it if Webflow doesn't up their game. WordPress is still KING - period!! Don't know why people always try to throw shade on it.

Can you make SPA websites, make animated transitions between pages when navigating and fetch data from databases and external resources? Is it possible to make a chat, forum and commenting systems within webflow? Do they have AI content generators? Can you get data from grahpql services and connect to websockets? I am asking this because I was thinking about making something similar to webflow but with the features mentioned. The websites built with the tool would have 0kB javascript on the first load and score from 90 to 100 in google's Lighthouse. I would also like to provide the web building service for free. Would this be a good idea?

Nice and very informative video. Just one thing, please if you are presenting a review of services and among the audience there is people who are only beginning learning about the topic, explaining the acronyms used would be useful. Not everyone knows the meaning of all the used acronym. Thanks. 👍
