He needed a scene like that with Jon to show that they're equals now (also as Jon had risen so much since season 1).
That, in fact, is the only foreshadowing in Season 8. Jaime pushes Bran off a STONE tower in the first episode, with Cersei in the room, beginning everything bad like the war of the 5 Kings and the burning of Winterfell, and the stones got pissed off that Winterfell was burned so they got revenge by crushing Jaime and Cersei 8 years later
I actually liked that he went back to her. Shows that even a good man, which he has become over the seasons, or maybe actually always was, cannot escape his dark side (cersei). Love is more powerful than moral or logic
Agree, 1,000% with you. All that progression of his character was for nothing and Cersei SO DESERVED to die alone and realize how stupid and pathetic she was. This really pissed me off, made no sense and made him look incredibly stupid, esp knowing that she ordered and payed Bron to kill him and Tyrion.
WHICH IS LAME, why sign up for a show if you're not in it for the long haul? d&d have no artistic integrity, or they would have BEGGED for more seasons or taken the opportunity they were given. if you truly love a project you continue to work on it to make it perfect, no matter how drawn out it is.
D&d were tired of the show, I remember binge watching season 1 through 4 because I missed out. Then when season 5 came i could tell it felt different, other than the hound coming back nothing really affected me. The writers just wanted it to end, but they built up so much it like they had a secret meeting and said what's the minimum amount of seasons/ episodes do we need to end this show.
HBO we’re willing to give them an even bigger budget for each of those episodes with most averaging 6 mil per episode they were offering 10 million for each
Best part: 19:35 - The connection you made with Maestor Amon's speech - Duty being the death of love, love being the death of duty. These are the moments which actually retain fans to a show.
i like the idea of the Nights King explaining his motive to Bran. One of my biggest complaints about the NK's arc, was that they never explained why he was doing this
This is amazing. The night king having a motive and talking to bran would have been such an epic scene. Even the convo between jon and jamie is such a nice touch
I’m not fancy on the Night king having a heart to heart with Bran, I like the motivation Flick’s has given to him though, but I guess I’m bias to that old trope of “Show, not tell”
@Colin-um5tz Why would it? He has no connection to it in any positive way, and I don't think he knows about Rhaegar singing and it's effect on Lyanna.

It would be tremendously fun if Martin completely changes everything in the books. Shireen Baratheonon ending up on the Iron Throne would make all the tv show viewers go mad.
Well i can actually say the books will be completely different for one Euron Greyjoy in the books is a completely different character from mr 10 inch cock no he likes to make long speeches to his brothers about how he taught them to pray as children while nailing his pregnant wife to the bow of his ship with her tongue cut out to be used as a human sacrifice all in a effort to make himself into a god
I disagree. What ended up happening on the show is what made tv viewer go mad anyway and even make up their own videos about how the seasons should have gone or watch these kind of videos in the first place. Lol, If they did it in a reasonable way, It would have still been better than Bran the boring ending up on the Iron throne and done right, would have made more sense.
you were not watching the same series i watched then. In episode one, there are hints to what Dany will do later. Re watching the series, you don't get fooled by Dany's hype. I am on season 5 now and I have seen countless examples of Dany's cruelty.
@@davidlean1060 There is countless examples, but they did not do have escalation there were some examples like when she killed all those slave masters by crucifying them, however some of those crucified were not slave masters they were architects and other jobs. She did something like that once every 3 seasons or so and it happened every once in a while to mostly evil people not the civilians in a city. They should have had her first transition into more morally gray and then just plain evil acts not just mass murder that could have happened after they made her go crazy properly.
@@aidangiven7422 it is not just things she does. Characters give clues. She says things 'I don not have a gentle heart Ser'...they are everywhere. Take what I say or leave it. I bet very few dislike and Russian bots...or Amazon prime bots are spamming the net with claims of 'bad writing'.
One thing people dont know about Dany (especially the writers) is that she actually never wanted the throne. In the books her quest for the throne is motivated by her constantly being pressured into it, the fear of being killed because of her bloodline, her devotion to her family and the safety of her people. Almost every time we get to see Danys thoughts its always the simple life she craves. She hates her quest and always says things like "im just a little girl, i just want to go home" she always dreams of the red door, a place where she actually felt like a normal girl without all the pressure she has now. So your decision to make dany forfit her quest for the throne isnt weird, its completely in line with her character.
I would have forgiven season eight if instead of the night king shattering, the dagger shatters and he smiles at Arya and says “ you should have gone for the head”
He always had a true purpose. His threat, a being whose existence is virtually so he can end humans is what makes him so terrifying. He is a weapon gone wrong
@@flickfanatics7948 so you mock this guy for calling your work bad, at least that is how II interpret this remark, but having a go at the show's producers, that's ok? Why is your way better?
As a book reader I can say for sure that you got more of the lore in your rewrite than D&D ever did. A few slips is nothing compared to their clusterfuckery.
I thought I had made my peace with how GOT ended and then I watch this and is yet again overwhelmed with how awesome it could have been but wasn't. All the emotional connection with and between characters were sacrificed for big battles, if the books and the previous 7 seasons have taught us anything, it's that characters are always more important. I will always be sad at how GOT ended. Always.
Honestly all the cool Stark's were killed that's why the show sucked if I think back on it and if John never got with Dany the show would be cool because he got cucked and Sansa and Aria are not leaders ones an assassin and the other just wanted to be a wife for half the damn show.
Yeah, because that scene where he has his confrontation with the NK was so cringeworthy as they just stared at each other and was completely void of any satisfying or meaningful moment. Also, it appears that Bronn didn't have any useful part to play at all in this season.
Bronn especially needs to die. And Jon. One of the reasons this ending sucked is because D&D are fan service hacks. They want to tell a condescending story where defined heroes have happy endings. That impulse must be rejected if this story is to have the ending it deserved.
Killing off Bronn is a fine idea. Probably should have happened sooner. The guy started off as an interesting character, then turned into a silly plot device.
Maybe Bran’s line “ you’re exactly where you were meant to be.” could be used here as his last words to jon before he dies. This could imply that he knows about the Azor Ahai prophecy.
I love the scene you made with Jamie and Jon and Jon bringing up his past with Ygritte and how it relates to Jamie and Cersei. Crazy how much better people on youtube are at making good dialogue than professional writers.
This is so much better!!! Also in season 7 they did keep foreshadowing that Daenerys would end up pregnant but they threw that out the window in season 8 and they did build up the white walkers as some almost unbeatable threat and then to have them ended in one episode was dumb and completely shit on the first 7 seasons.
Cersei getting pregnant, Daenerys getting pregnant. Then their children years after. Will clash for the Iron Throne. Its the Lion's vs the Dragon's now.
I think this is my favorite rewrite. There is just one thing I personally would have added would be that when Jamie arrives at winterfell he arrives with a few hundred soldiers. That way him walking out on Cersei gives meaning
No simply because him alone he knows there is no one backing him against the dead and basically going behind enemy lines in winter fell risking his life against horrible odd. If he went with a full army it wouldn’t feel the same because an army would give the character more assurance for “doing what right”. Therefore by himself it strengthens his decision of risking his life for what’s right and making his retaining of his honor even more legitimate.
Music is too loud :) Also... Daenerys was NEVER all about the throne, in the books she says she would have given up the throne even for Daario if only he asked... All she ever wanted was the house with red door in Braavos with the lemon tree outside of her room... She wanted the throne so she would have power to change people's lives for the better, to never have another child live the way she lived. Also in the show they say she would have never shared the throne... Are you serious?? She is a Targaryen ! The dragon has three heads ... Rings a bell?? She grew up with stories about how for centuries her family ruled three at a time, in the books she is searching for two other man who would be her husbands and rule together with her ... So you pretty much captured her character better than D&D ever did lol.
Well, on the show Dany is portrayed all these seasons for wanting to be on the Iron Throne to change things for the better. Though I do agree, she was not that power hungry that she would not give it up if it meant that it was the better option. Either way, book or tv show Dany was not some tyrant that wanted to conquer the world! I guess D&D would argue that she kinda forgot that she already did!
@@skywalker6648 Yep all true... It's just heartbreaking how they ruined the show, the rest of the crew who did an amazing job like actors, SGI crew, directors, scenery crew, literally anyone who worked on it, they all deserved better... D&D didn't just let us down, they let them all down too, It's like they worked sooo hard and fans don't like it cuz of lazy writing.... they should never get hired after this...
Actually Danny going mad was George R R Martin s intention . A mad queen was bound to happen eventually even in the book. She is going to be evil and good at the same time. In some poetic way, Danny descendant would be way more satisfying and more complicated.
This actually made my eyes well up. I think it's the best rewrite I've heard so far. If there's one thing that came out of the travesty that was GOT Season 8, it is the sheer amount of brilliance that has been drawn from fans, such as yourself. Amazing "fanfiction" in response to a huge disappointment. Thank you for this.
Cause they got lazy and wanted to finish .. sad how they read the books and had so much material to work with ..but didn't read their own content to make it make sense.
No, not everyone can, be realistic. I've seen some disney type ending theories. What we got is still better than most fan theories, but of course it could have been a lot better
Bronn killing Missandei is so random and is really out of character. He's a pretty smart dude, he wouldn't just come in and kill Missandei without knowing he could escape easily and get his reward. Apart from that, great video.
He killed Missandei because she protected Daenerys, makes a lot of sense. More than capturing one girl in the middle of a battle with many sinking ships not knowing who she is or what was her value in the eyes of Daenerys.
@@hxcvocalist It's still an obnoxious conservation of cast members. The world is big. You're telling me Qyburn couldn't have sent someone more proficient at assassinations than a dude in his fifties? Let Bronn fucking retire and cut his losses.
Yeah going into enemy territory killing the queen, and hoping to get out safe again. That's a pretty stupid approach. Apart from that I like the re write so far
Bronn accepting to assasinate daenarys is a perfect example of being too greedy for the money. While the death of bronn in the hands of tyrion his former master is a perfect example of "never betray your master or you should believe in me because the lannister always pays their debt". The author seem to have the idea that tyrion is the best man to kill bron to give justice on tyrions character as a lannister.
@@superkarage5428Bronn was not too greedy though he's incredibly cold and calculating which is why he did retire in the books where he has his castle family and enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life. I can't see him giving that up to sneak into an enemy camp to murder the dragon lady for less from a crazy bitch on the verg of ruin. Tyrion is not Bronn's master he made that very clear when he left him to die and Tyrion/Jamie didn't even properly pay him so it's the Lannisters that are in debt to him.
It’s been 5 years since the Game of Thrones ended and I love your version!! It was so on topic and wonderful written..I felt completely satisfied with the way you ended things for all the characters. Danny didn’t have to be a bad crazy queen, . Killing everyone. Her and Jon should’ve had a child.. it would’ve kept the Targaryen dynasty going.. and I loved the way you ended Cercy, Jamie was the one that needed to end her life.. When D&D finished their last season, it was awful and I felt cheated. Thank you for fixing what was broken at the end of Game of Thrones! The battle with the white walkers that you set up was fabulous right up there with Lord of the rings and Helms deep.. It never made sense to me why all their armies were outside the wall. Your ending gave all the characters arks a great ending to finish off their stories. You didn’t take it as far as giving them a Disney ending a true Game of Thrones ending and still satisfied even this fan..
Something I find funny about the defenses for the season particularly Danny going crazy is that people reference the fact that that's probably how the books go. They didn't have to follow the books. They could have gone in any direction they wanted to. I find it best to think about how the show could have been revised after the finale of season 6. Danny and Jon's insane relationship was what derailed the show.
Absolutely! I also felt that way when writing, everything was too rushed and if they actually wanted to do mad Dany then so much more build up would have been required :)
@@flickfanatics7948 we needed one more season. An eighth season with 10 episodes would build up to the White Walker battle and explore The Jon and Dany romance more sufficiently. Explore how it will affect the politics in North, his family, maybe even show Arya siding with Dany because she sees what Jon sees in her. Then end the season with Jon and Dany getting married in secret. Season 9 is the final push, but this time Jon and Dany have a child. Their complicated circumstances feeds into Danys paranoia fears for Jon and Their child's safety.
@@Story2ScreenMovieReviewPodcast Agreed, we needed at least one more if not two and 10 episodes for them. Everything was way too rushed and I think they could have pulled off mad Dany if they had more time.
@@flickfanatics7948 I've heard a lot of people mention doing a tenth season. I'm not sure what a tenth season would consist of outside of Day as the mad queen. In your mind, how would you have approached an 8th, 9th and/ or 10th season Generally speaking? In my mind I would end it after season 9, unless I had the next two books to go off of.
@@Story2ScreenMovieReviewPodcast Hmm, great question. I think I would have made season 7 solely about winning the game of thrones with one or two white walker encounters. Then have the first half of season 8 being about concluding the war between humans in the first half then begin properly doing white walkers in the second, we could maybe have the good guys suffer a massive loss like the death of viserion in the end of 8. Then have 9 be all about the final battles and conflicts. That's just thinking from the top of my head :)
This is honestly amazing. I love this ending and its such a great story. I wished we got to know Night Kings goal because he is such an intresting character with an intresting story.
Brilliant. Absolutely giving brilliant. I could imagine every second of it and every second of your video makes more sense than the entire last season. Thank you for this!
great blending of what they did with how it would be better.. sadly just about anyone has a better idea then what D+D gave us.. but i do like your working together against the night king story
This version is so freaking amazing. Well done.( I still would have wanted Missandei to live; might have had Jorah survive the battle at Winterfell and die in that moment.) Also, "for once, Jon is the person who knows more than anyone else" is the best sentence I've heard all week and I'm still laughing at it, so thank you for that.
All I got to say is WoW. Great job. Absolutely love how u changed Danny for the best, gave actual reason behind the knight kings madness, made him look like an actual badass, gave main characters bigger roles, killed off the ones I thought would die. The list goes on. I wish u would've did the last season! 🤜🤛
I think I've heard the basic story this is based off of... if it ended up with Jon having to plunge the sword into Daenerys to forge Lightbringer in order to save their child... THAT would be a bittersweet (and still heartwrenching) ending.
It is Azor Ahai prophecy. In Essos priests and priestesses of R'hllor spread the legend, which claims that during the Long Night humanity was being slauthered, and when all hope was gone, Azor Ahai, the Last Hero, created fiery sword, the Lightbringer, and hardened it with blood of beloved wife, Nissa Nissa, by stabing her heart. Then, using Lightbringer, he pushed the Others back to Lands of always winter. The prophecy claims that Azor Ahai will be reborn to once more fight the darkness and save humanity. Mellisandre believed, that Stannis is Azor Ahai reborn, but in Dance with Dragons we see that she isn't certain and starts to think that it's Jon Snow instead. Personally I think that Jon killing Dany would be too melodramatic, and too predictable, but who knows
Nah, it still wouldn't make sense to what happens with Dany's and Jon's character arc as he is supposed to be so in love with her. Perhaps, one of the dragons like Rhaegal? Btw, funny how they just left out the Azor Ahai prophecy out altogether.
Great job! Every single story choice here is better than what we actually got. I personally wish both Seasons 7 and 8 could have been rewritten, but if we can only rewrite Season 8, then this is the best version I've seen so far.
Forget petitions! This guy should start a kickstarter for this version of season 8...hell it would probably raise so much money that he could probably hire the same actors, directors too!
Only 15 minutes in and I'm already in love with the amount of effort involved in retaining the specific details of a story we all love soo much. That was something completely jettisoned in season 8. 15:53 is a screaming *YES* from me! It was explicitly pointed out in season 1 when Arya snuck out of the castle that it was a vulnerability to the Red Keep and then shat upon as all that was built was shat upon in season 8. Fantastic job! I'm really enjoying this version and, as I refuse to rewatch the other version, this is as real an ending in my mind as any other. Nicely done!
2:23 Don't worry about keeping the book lore here - the Night King isn't even a character in the books and there is no obsidian-in-the-heart magic, it's not clear why the three-eyed crow (not raven in the books) even wants Bran or what the Children are up to. There is no evidence the Children made the Others yet (that's Book for white walkers), and I doubt in the books killing one Other will make all the battle droids shut down anyway - at least it won't kill the other Others - so the whole basis of season 8 lore is out of whack already so just roll with it! :) Any last minute made up motive to retroactively give to the Night King works just as well as (and probably better than) the one D&D came up with.
The little warg convo between bran amp the night king was the best part. We needed some background and this was the perfect way to deliver that background. Thank you so much for this rewrite
How am I JUST now being recommended this after my top searches being GOT related for the past 10 years on TH-cam?! I fucking LOVE where you’re taking this and the dialogue…but most importantly, the THEMES 💕
I was more enthralled listening to this than watching the actual season. sad how far they let it fall, this video shows how great it could have been, had the writers striven to make it so.
BRROOO!!! I know this only pt1 but I’m only at the 14:07 mark and this is beautiful. D&D should’ve got you to put a little sauce here and there. The imagination of the brain is something else along with the art. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this. Like most of the rewrites I've seen, yours is a real improvement over what HBO gave us. I especially want to thank you for giving some respect to the poor "Nonentities of the Vale." I haven't seen any other version that does this. You even gave Lord Royce a speaking part; way to go. The falcon banner knights saved the North's ass. Then in Season 8, they got essentially no respect. I think you may also be the only one to use the blatantly obvious idea of infiltrating KL through its underground passages. One of the many ways in which Dany and her advisers seem to have turned into morons in Season 8 is that they never even discuss this possibility.
Hellyes man. Such intricate detail an call backs. Ties a nice bow on alot of character arcs and is absolutely satisfying. Cant wait to watch part 2. With this kind of passion i hope youre doing something where you can put these talents to use.
If the Night King's whole motivation is to break his curse, why, like, even have slaughter all those living people and have an Army of the Dead? Why is it necessary in the first place? What's it accomplishing to further his goals? Can't he just, like, talk to the TRE/Bran at this point?
Totally true. But considering how dumb human race here, (case to point, the game of thrones itself) this behaviour is actually understandable (altho, not reasonable at all). Especially with really pissed off people.
Liking it so far! I'm glad you're not going the mad queen route, for while I'm pretty sure Martin intends it, I agree it can't be properly set up in just 6 episodes. Better to have a unique ending for the show from the books.
@@flickfanatics7948 Thank you so much for realizing that. The show should've been able to stand on its own. And the mad queen thing breaks her character where it is when it is and uses time that could be used elsewhere.
@@pplr1 Absolutely. the whole "But Mad Dany comes directly from Martin" argument is incredibly weak. So what? A good story stands on its own. A show that has departed as far from the books as HBO's GoT has from ASoIaF shouldn't be chained to a pre-determined ending.
I really appreciate the connection to the old style of the show that was abandoned by D&D in late seasons. There are still abandoned plots but this version would offer a conclusion to all the main storylines in a satisfactory way and avoid the anticlimactic, improbable, and random resolutions of the show gave in every single instance of season 8. And you did all this within the limits of the 6 episodes and respecting many of their choices. Well done!

I loved the whole narration and the events you propose here, but what got me with my mouth wide open was the tyrion roast at bronn. Man, that was a good line.
I wasn't sure how I felt about some of this, but Dany being pregnant and Jon and her being together just makes sense, something the writers didn't understand, clearly, and the Night King's motivation and the human version at the weirwood is a stroke of genius. Major props for that.

It's weird because HBO wanted 10 seasons George R.R. Martin gave them enough for 12 and they make 8 with less than 10 episodes 😐😧(slow clap)👏
That's because d & d lost interest at the start of the 7th season.
WHICH IS LAME, why sign up for a show if you're not in it for the long haul? d&d have no artistic integrity, or they would have BEGGED for more seasons or taken the opportunity they were given. if you truly love a project you continue to work on it to make it perfect, no matter how drawn out it is.
grrm didn't give them shit
One of my biggest complaints about the NK's arc, was that they never explained why he was doing this
But he was just a tool created to kill humans. A mindless King with only one purpose.
And he removed that feeling that the NK is a force of nature by giving him human motives.
This is amazing. The night king having a motive and talking to bran would have been such an epic scene. Even the convo between jon and jamie is such a nice touch
Thank you! I wanted those conversations as a way to stay true to one of the things that made the show great: two people having a well written talk :)
My favorite part of the video.
I’m not fancy on the Night king having a heart to heart with Bran, I like the motivation Flick’s has given to him though, but I guess I’m bias to that old trope of “Show, not tell”

Dude Jon burning the skeletons on Ned and Lyanna was such a nice touch. It probably wouldn't made us bawl our eyes out.
If Jon opens Lyanna's tomb, then that gives him a chance to discover Rhaegar's harp, with which she is rumored to be buried.
What about this harp??
I think that might actually be a good idea because it would expressed the emotion for Jon
@Colin-um5tz Why would it? He has no connection to it in any positive way, and I don't think he knows about Rhaegar singing and it's effect on Lyanna.
Literally every fan theory I’ve heard about the ending of Game of Thrones is better than the ending we actually got.

“The hound is of course eating a chicken”
I would have forgiven season eight if instead of the night king shattering, the dagger shatters and he smiles at Arya and says “ you should have gone for the head”
This ain’t the avengers
That's the point
This is much better than what we got, and I like how the Night King wanted to be be free and had a true purpose in why he was invading Westeros.

Omg that exchange between Jon and Jaime was absolutely superb. There is in fact no other way to o describe it.
Always.
season 7 was the worst in my book.
Thuc Nguyen season 8?
Honestly all the cool Stark's were killed that's why the show sucked if I think back on it and if John never got with Dany the show would be cool because he got cucked and Sansa and Aria are not leaders ones an assassin and the other just wanted to be a wife for half the damn show.
I would pay 1000 bucks for this to be the season i saw this spring
Thank you for killing off Bran and Bronn ;) !
Yeah, because that scene where he has his confrontation with the NK was so cringeworthy as they just stared at each other and was completely void of any satisfying or meaningful moment. Also, it appears that Bronn didn't have any useful part to play at all in this season.
Brann I agree but Bronn dying is stupid as fuck
Bran can die but not Bronn
Thanks!
Yessss!!!! Why did they ignore that? And what of Cersei’s pregnancy - what was the point of ALL that!??
Cersei getting pregnant,
Daenerys getting pregnant.
Then their children years after. Will clash for the Iron Throne. Its the Lion's vs the Dragon's now.
Hakoh Bangz what Throne. That one got burnt lol
They should have won the battle of the winter fell a d the army of the living should be on the run at least for a few episodes
I don't care what anyone says, this is now the official story in my mind 👏👏👏👏
Wow, HBO should have paid you the $15 million for the season, loved your take on it, especially Brons death , loved it, wish this is how it ended
Thank you so much Mr Bennioff XD
Good Daenerys: The throne no longer matters....
Me: (Hands slams down on table)
Thank You!!!!
I think this is my favorite rewrite. There is just one thing I personally would have added would be that when Jamie arrives at winterfell he arrives with a few hundred soldiers. That way him walking out on Cersei gives meaning
Correct!
Yes. I always think Jaime could have recruited the lords of Riverlands, even including Edmure Tully
I am really depressed after have watched the series. Post series depression plus a bad ending. I HATE THE ENDING IN GOT

Thanks!

Thank you for bringing this story to a great ending that Game of Thrones deserved..❤

Season 8 Still haunts me to this day. I get so angry when I think of what could have been. I love watching these videos.
I could live with the ending of Dani for the love of her child makes sense to me.

This is like a 100 times better than what happened especially your version of episode 3 I would be shocked out of my mind if this would have happened

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :)

I'm glad you're not going the mad queen route, for while I'm pretty sure Martin intends it, I agree it can't be properly set up in just 6 episodes. Better to have a unique ending for the show from the books.
Thanks! I also wanted the show to have an ending that stands on its own as there have already been so many differences with the books :)
It wasn't set up in six episodes; it was tacked on in two
I really appreciate the connection to the old style of the show that was abandoned by D&D in late seasons.
There are still abandoned plots but this version would offer a conclusion to all the main storylines in a satisfactory way and avoid the anticlimactic, improbable, and random resolutions of the show gave in every single instance of season 8.

Earlier in the video, he had Danny tell Jon to tell evwryone who he was cuz she only cares about their baby living and not the throne.
My heart still aches when thinking about Game of Thrones
I really like Bronn's death but I think the way your Long Night went could've been differently, however it was better than the show.
Thanks!
So much better than the original. Cant wait for part 2!! :)
Thanks!
Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful! I was so disappointed with the crap writing and acting of season 8. Thank you for giving us a much better ending!!!
