    As versatile as it is, LPH-400 is the greatest spraying clear coat gun you could ever get. Everytime I do a PPG workshop or a custom class, every painter gravitates to this gun for clear coat. I'm happy to have gotten one as a gift 3 years ago from a great old painter.
    Get a Tekna/DeVilbiss Pro-Lite if you want a wide fan for base coat/sealer.

    i have the silver cap LV4 in 1.3. Great gun for painting in my garage with the low overspray. I usualy keep it under 22psi. Some go higher. Full fluid usualy. 2 1/2 turns in from wide open on the fan cleans the pattern up just as the pressure goes up on the cheater valve. Not a huge fan but big enough and great atomization. I like it

    Hey Fred thanks heaps for slowing it right down with the detailed explanations. Your one of very few guys who I actually understand when you are teaching stuff.
    Can you explain what a Tac Cloth is please. Might sound like a dumb question but I have heard the term used for years but don't actually know what it is or how it works. I've never seen or used one either but I have never done anywhere near a decent paint job on any car either. Just El-Cheapo spray gun and small compressor. A 1950's spray gun run by the exhaust of a Hoover vacuum cleaner and of course rattle can jobs.

      a tack rag is a sticky cotton rag (kinda looks like cheese cloth) that is used for wiping down panels that you plan to paint. It's the final step after using wax and grease remover to eliminate any dust that is on the surface. Some people use microfiber cloths instead.

    The lph400 is great out of the box but it's a bit slow...which is why you should port it like I did. Once you get more air moving through the gun you can also get more paint through it. 1.4 of course. Ported it's as fast as any SATA but with better control and much less over spray. As for the pattern you need to dial in the fan one or two full turns.

      @@tonydiesel3444 I use my LPH400 for clear exclusively, and I actually prefer it to be a bit slower for that. You can really dial in your finish texture and get that clear exactly how you want it to lay out. Personal preference though!

    • @AA_Ron155
      @AA_Ron155 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tonydiesel3444the air fitting in the handle is a little restrictive. Porting the fitting will give more flow at a lower pressure. It is like running the gun at a higher pressure. It just takes some load off the air compressor. As most air compressor can flow more air at a lower pressure.

    • @Handlehandlebars
      @Handlehandlebars 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting ! I stopped using mine for clear cause of how slow it is...but I still put 5 coats of metallic base with it and the metallic come put beautiful...but yes very slow gun and def don't try it at 16 psi. Bump it up!

    • @Mike-qo4kp

      He used 19 for sealer 13-14 for base and 27 for clear (fluid wide open). Most painters use around 22-24 for base and 25-30 for clear with 2.5 turns out on fluid, but there is no right or wrong way to get it done. Just like he said in the video this gun works well at a wide range of pressures and settings.

    • @MarcBchannel
      @MarcBchannel 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Whole different beast. Good gun the Bellaria. I spray in a garage where I don't want a ton of overspray. I have both Bellaria and the LPH400 LV4 "original" silver cap. The LPH atomizes really fine at loooow pressure. Very low overspray. It's a trade off tho. Makes it slow compared to the Bellaria. The Bellaria atomizes well at higher pressure, is faster, and has a big fan. But it also has a bit more overspray. If you don't mind the overspray you can't go wrong with the Bellaria. It's also good with hard to spray metallics. Because of the low overspray I prefer the LPH400 even tho it's slower at recommended pressures.

Most painters set their booth up correctly so that they dont have air flow problems that can lead to die back or solvent popping problems or even dirt problems.

None of them are successful and none of them have the proper air flow.
