I always love how your tortoises and lizards respond to you. I never thought reptiles would respond like other pets. Thank you for educating everyone on the critters. They are fascinating. I am so happy to see Lumpy digging. I think he is very happy.
Yes, they behave a bit like zombies in Dawn of the Dead when Kenan calls "feeding time." And some of the little tortoises do seem to like the taste of his feet and toes, too!
Thank you so much for sharing about upper respiratory illness and mycoplasma! One of my tortoises is struggling right now with this situation and your videos are so helpful.
did yours survive, i have one that has pretty bad pneumonia and not sure if she will make it, have her on antibiotics and under constant heat and multiple bathing but so far not much is working.
@@danjones6702 do you have a humidifier for yours? My red foot has it and I make sure to keep her temp at 80 across her whole cage and humidity between 70 - 80%. She does struggle from time to time with a bit of a snotty nose, but with the mycoplasma, she is always going to have mucus. As long as it remains clear and doesn’t become overwhelming for her to breathe, she does fine. The humidity plays a big part in helping her clear out the mucus in her mouth and nostrils. She does see her vet every 6 months right now for check ups. We did go through about 4 to 5 months of treatment.
@@dawnostertag9496 no. my humidity isnt high. its around 40 percent. but her nostrils are fine its her lungs thats the problem. its full of mucus. have a month so far of antibiotics and nothing is helping her breathing is getting worse. i soak her 2 times a day. once a day with carrot baby food as well have tried soaking with pedialyte. she has been fluctuating between ceftazidime and baytril shots.
I love, love, LOVE how bright the eyes of all your tortoises are. It shows how healthy and happy they are. You rock! ♥ I wish I lived in Florida so I could work on your farm = a dream job.
I was unaware of this disease, i was thinking of getting a tortoise very soon now i know another thing to keep an eye out for. Keep up the great work and thanks for the info. you should do more videos on reptile diseases so more people are aware
Hi Kenan, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you with all of your knowledge and keeping tips. This channel is the best I’ve seen for conservation and proper treatment of animals.
I love those faces i want a tortis so bad but feel it would be unfair for me to get one as i dont really have the time to give it the attention that it would need so thanks for sharing your babies with us
I’ve had mycoplasma repeatedly in the past and I have never felt as ill. Only thing I can do to fight it is keep my immune system healthy. Once I burn out due to workplace/life stress, it’s like my body begins to fall apart and it’s a quick downward slide. I feel the pain of the poor animals who have this, as they can’t tell you what they are feeling or how to help them.
I worry all the time about my big spur thigh catching an RI during the winter here in Colorado..... fortunately for twenty years he has over wintered fine in my kitchen.....the only time I ever had problems was when I kept a heat light on him and tried to keep him active inside and eating through the winter.....for sixteen years now he brumates most the winter......after he comes inside mid October I do not feed him much until mid April.....he doesn't fully hibernate of course but he sleeps a lot and gets up for a drink every couple weeks but no food.....its crazy but it takes over a month for all the twigs n leaves n grass from outside to pass through him .... He doesn't loose much weight at all over the winter but he bulks up as the season changes and eats a ton the last month or so he is outside....Peace
I love all your variety of tortoise. What is the price range of your tortoises if a person what's to get one for a pet? Keep up the great job with the education of the different variety of animals you work with.
Hi KK ! Love tortoises, love your content ! please your videos are my oxygen, love the reptiles... hope I can be surrounded by reptiles one day .... just really love your attitude and your knowledge really helps a lot , thank you so much !
Really interesting video!!!!! You kind of answered these questions but if you have any more specifics I'd like to know How do you know that yours specifically do or do not have Myco? What other animals can become infected from the tortoises or in general? Not ice age, awesome movie, UP, slightly less awesome but still awesome status, is the movie with Doug the dog
I’m wondering if my rescue boa constrictor has this. I rescued him a few years ago, he’s old and had (still does) a respiratory infection. The mucus has been cultured and mico did not show up. It was another hard to treat bacteria. We treated him for several months. He’s a lot better now, still has some mucus and is finally eating consistently. He was 6lbs when I got him, now he’s about 11lbs. Still on the under weight side. Vet thinks he had this infection for a long time and has caused permanent damage. I still keep him in his own area with no other reptiles near him. Sort of permanent quarantine.
Hey Kenan, I know at one point you kept elegans and were having problems with humidity responses and URI's. Did you have the herd tested for myco at that time? Have you ever had a tortoise with intranuclear coccidiosis, perhaps a radiated? If so, was there any treatment that helped?
I preferred animals in nature, but we know what humans are doing to the planet. In the midst of such destruction, it is good to have people like you who treat animals well.
Mycoplasma is endemic in domestic rats, also, but not in wild rats. We seem to be the common vector, and stress makes it bloom out of control to disastrous effect.
I don't think Darwin was trying to bite. You just spoke about how tortoises greet each other and she looked like she was trying to allow for a good sniff from you. ❤️ I fact you went over and gave the other tortoise a greeting. However I understand not wanting to put my face near those chompers.
Hey Canon my names Eric and I was wondering if you had any knowledge on bottles for small animals like kittens and stuff like that if you had a certain company that you would buy them off of and if they’re good or not
There is no dog in Ice Age nor in any of the sequels. There IS a dog named Dug in the movie Up and all the other dogs in that movie get distracted by and have a severe hate for Squirrrels.
My boa when he was a baby the power went out for 3days this was up in Mass and things got cold...well he did get a res infection,I treated him and to this day 5yr later I feel like he is still sometimes alil off if you know what I mean from being sick(he is 6 1/2f now)
I know my tortoises don't have this virus. My Mediterranean spur thighed tortoises all carry their species version of the herpes virus. I found out when the only hermans tortoise I had caught it off them, sadly the hermans didn't make it.
With fish it's incurable ,so you're advised to euthanize. I have several different species of rainbowfish, which are susceptible but long-lived so they all have separate tanks for at least 6 months. Kanamycin and Oxytetracycline are said to have some activity against it Penguins at Bronx Zoo with 3 antibiotics but it took months. I can relate. Thanks much for all your great info/advice.
Why don't yu bring food to all the turt and torts when you go around putting them on camera? They obviously know you are the food source and they follow you, using up energy, so give them some food to replace that lost energy from following you around.

Kamp Kenan I love your channel so much and can you bring that little tortoise toe biter back he or she’s hilarious 😂
I love how when most of the turtles and tortoises come to you when they hear your voice or they see you kneeled down. Very cool indeed
It never gets old🤠
Yes, they behave a bit like zombies in Dawn of the Dead when Kenan calls "feeding time."
And some of the little tortoises do seem to like the taste of his feet and toes, too!
Mine do the same I love it so much💜
Lol your Doug in UP. So am I. Got your DreamWorks crossed. "SQUIRREL"
Those darling tort faces are the BOMB. One and all. I love that Lumpy's raising hell in the dirt!
All of your animals are happy and looking great.
Thx David👍🤠

Just a little correction:
Bacterias do have cell walls, only virus doesn't
Is it true that virus has an envelope?
Do you get roof rats in your tortoise enclosures?
Of course I loved it! Nostradamus loves you so much! It is interesting that some torts love a neck rub!
Thx kristin. He loves those neck rubs the most!
I think you meant the dog (Doug) in Up, great video either way :P
I know Mycoplasma is very common in rats. I've read that it is believed that every rat is a carrier. Some show symptoms, some dont.
Great Video!!! Thanks for the infooooooooo
