I love seeing missed handshakes, hahaha, I cringe but I FEEL it. I still replay awkward things like that over and over, even after years 😅 I can't wait until I can make some awesome enclosures, I really want a Kenan animal or two

they used that as to differentiate what bloodline that tortoise came from.

The whole point is guys have there own setup which is almost but he was saying I can pick and choose who I give my tortoises to and they keep them all in there own inner circle and even if someone was well qualified and he didn’t like them they wouldn’t be getting one which is sad
No, they just want to make sure the animal goes to someone who knows how to care for it. These are not kittens or puppies, they’re very specialized animals that require specific living conditions, care and food, plus they live for decades.

Please stop breeding and selling sulcata tortoises. It's not good for them or the hobby.
Maybe it's just me, but that dude seems a bit too elitist for my liking. If I have to ask how to care for one of his Galaps, go get a redfoot? How about I just move on to another breeder?
Yeah it would be really stupid to just give them away to anyone who thinks owning a tortoise might be cool both because he clearly loves and wants the best for his animals and because his tortoises are an endangered species with well tracked bloodlines who should be used for the preservation of the species. A Galapagos is also going to outlive it's original owner so it needs to go to someone who is making long term plans.
I agree with him 100% Before even considering owning one of these Giant Tortoises, I should do the research and learn exactly what they need to be healthy . I would have to realize that this animal WILL outlive me. Only after I had a plan for the housing, long term care and expense, and had decided who would take the creature when I die...... only then would I go to the breeder.
@sallyrutledge8238 See, I understand all that, and had he said it that way, it would have been much more tolerable. I say the same thing to people who ask me for advice on anything, whether it's animal related or not. You should always do your research prior to starting anything. But that shouldn't mean, don't ask him questions about their care. Nobody does anything the exact same way. His methods may be polar opposite to what said interested keeper has been doing and what's been working for him. It shouldn't be held against said would be keeper if he wants to emulate this guy's routine so as to not stress the tortlette. Aside from all that, you can do all the research in the world, bit nothing trumps actual experience. What's wrong with asking the keeper what he finds to be the best practices, so you can weigh those real life experiences against what you've discovered through said research? Seems too "Get off my lawn" to me.
Yeah no shit like we only give our animals to people of our choosing well you have serval babies in a way to small quarantine bins and prob have been there since birth and have to be a few months old in a bin I wouldn’t keep my Indian star in what a prick
