@@charleshoppner4111 well I promise if Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t such a monster success the whole “singer biopic” genre wouldn’t be as big as it is now (this movie was in development since the early 2000’s but I still think I’m correct). However, when it comes to biopics I was always a fan of them being R. Because if *anyone* (including myself, and probably you as well) decided to tell their life story, it’d definitely be R, too. For biopics, you can also go deeper into personal issues with an R rating, something you can’t really do with a PG-13 rating. Whilst the Song scene is emotional and heartwarming this is just a bit better
One of the most electrifying performances in recent memory. Embodiment of Elton, the look and feel and even the sound. This climatic scene is such an emotional powerhouse.
He goes from singing this song as a gorilla, to rescuing the man that sang it, to singing as the man himself..... that is awesome Edit: thank you all for the likes. Probably most I’ve ever gotten
When the last captions after this mention his partner and kids, him retiring from touring to be with them, and say “He is finally loved, properly” I had to pause the credits and wait five minutes to stop tearing up.
It's so heartwarming to see that he survived everything that he went through and is still going strong today. He could have very easily ended up dead, but got out of it before it was too late for him. This song was quite simply the perfect way to end this film.
egerton's performance in this scene is incredible he captures both the showmanship of elton the performer and the humanity of elton the person: the pain of the past, the hope of the future, and the power of the present. Bravo!
Bro, he *at least* needs to get the Best Actor nomination. UPDATE: Great to hear Egerton won the Best Actor - Musical or Comedy award in the 2020 Golden Globes!
This movie is top 10 all time. Amazing performances all around and Elton's life was wild so many ups and downs I related to him so much being a foster kid feeling outta place everywhere I went and never loved just used for money. He deserved an Oscar for this film.
My grandmother just played this for me because I'm a die-hard Elton John fan. She said, in a completely serious voice, "Look how young Elton is!" I guess that means Taron passes!
Taron was so good in Rocketman that at times I forgot I wasn't actually watching Elton. All the little flourishes on his face. I mean just LOOK at the phone box scene talking to his Mum. If that isn't Oscar worthy then nothing is.
In the movie Sing (2016): The man who voiced the singing gorilla also played as Elton John in Rocketman & Elton John sang I’m Still Standing. What a coincidence.
The growth of Taron Egerton is great to watch. He's like another Leo DeCaprio. I look forward to every new thing he does. Hoping he does more Kingsman movies.

Taron Egerton did an amazing job remaking the songs in this movie, both versions from Elton or Taron are great, but I have to admit I kinda like I’m still standing by Taron a bit more than eltons version.
It kicks off on the high note but I think it really kicks in when he says "I'm feeling like a little kid" because he IS a little kid, forced to live a life he should never have been pushed into.
The music video with Taron is amazing but for me, it’s the slow intro. It works so well and completely changed the song for me, as if I was listening to the lyrics for the first time. Taron basically improvised the walk from the rehab room to the door of the clinic on the day of the shoot because it wasn’t shot during principal photography and they didn’t have a choreographer on set. To me, his walk is perfect: vulnerable yet playful, melancholic and energetic at the same time. The ending of the film basically feels like Dexter Fletcher and Taron Egerton are handing Elton’s story back to him. A perfect transition!
I love how you can tell Taron Egerton is barely containing his excitement throughout this. It's like he's ticked off a bucket list item, he's so happy.

Holy s**t this kid can sing !!! I love this actor more everytime I learn something new about him.
Taron Egerton was in both movies, Rocketman (2019) and Sing (2016). Both movies had I’m Still Standing.
MrAcrizzy that I just realized
funny thing is that Taron Egerton met Elton John in Kingsman The Golden Circle so Elton probably had hopes for the guy
@@yourlocalgamer7189 yeah ture!
Yep. He also saved Elton John in Kingsmen Golden Circle. It’s like destiny for him.
Couldn't have picked a better way to end this beautiful film. Taron Egerton nailed it and NEEDS an Oscar nomination for his phenomenal performance!
"Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid"
He goes from singing this song as a gorilla, to rescuing the man that sang it, to singing as the man himself..... that is awesome
Edit: thank you all for the likes. Probably most I’ve ever gotten
gotta wonder if his performance of this song in sing had anything to do with him landing this role.
@@trajano777 I think Elton has said that he choose Taron Egerton to play him in rocketman after being with him in the golden circle
What
@@nishisuman2082 the man that played John also played in the movie sing who is a gorilla and sings I'm still standing
@@Fearlessblade70 I didnt watch the movie
When the last captions after this mention his partner and kids, him retiring from touring to be with them, and say “He is finally loved, properly” I had to pause the credits and wait five minutes to stop tearing up.
It's so heartwarming to see that he survived everything that he went through and is still going strong today.
He could have very easily ended up dead, but got out of it before it was too late for him.
This song was quite simply the perfect way to end this film.
The fact that taron had sung this song in 2 separate movies is still pretty cool!
Taron Egerton did a fantastic job on this movie. Like seriously, his performance made me cry, especially at this.
To think Eggsy from “The Kingsman” did all this. 😁👏🏻
Its Kingsman not The Kingsman
Well the next movie is The Kings Man
@@georgesr8979 Actually the next move is Kingsman:The golden circle

You're standing in spirit.
*laughs in disabled*
Flows you could’ve never existed in the first place so you are still standing that’s for sure
That's sad
This version of the song gives me chills. Such a great performance from Taron.
Such a great artist.
Go see his movie, you will respect him even more
I’m thinking about that cane toss. That was smooth.. 👌🏼
blinked the first time watching this and thought, "Where the hell he got that cane from?" (months later, after this video..) "...oh that was smooth!"
@@URJynxed2 Haha yeah. I wonder how long that took Taron. This is my favorite song of Elton's.
Love this version like the original also. Elton is a King
This song inspired me to look on the bright side of life again
Amen
I still love how you can tell Taron is having fun with his role hes not even hesitating to gwt into it hes just having fun
egerton's performance in this scene is incredible
he captures both the showmanship of elton the performer and the humanity of elton the person: the pain of the past, the hope of the future, and the power of the present. Bravo!
Taron was ROBBED for the Oscar
Yeah ... No
No!! He should Win!!
I'm still mad
He is such a great actor, as he can act out varies personalities, he should’ve won.
@Fred T Joaquin was great and deserved an Oscar just for his career in general, but Taron should have been nominated at least
This song really packs at a punch after knowing what he went through
Taron will always be eggsy to me. He’ll always be that kid from the apartment in London that learned manners and became a proper gentleman (and spy)
I know what you mean
manners maketh man
Oh my gosh i didnt even realize they wete the same person
@@tatujarvinen5920 I can recognize that square head and sharp jaw from a mile away
He'll also be that gorilla who sang this song in front of a bunch of animals
My grandmother just played this for me because I'm a die-hard Elton John fan. She said, in a completely serious voice, "Look how young Elton is!"
I guess that means Taron passes!
Taron was so good in Rocketman that at times I forgot I wasn't actually watching Elton. All the little flourishes on his face. I mean just LOOK at the phone box scene talking to his Mum. If that isn't Oscar worthy then nothing is.
This scene is breathtaking, i cried so much
after realizing that this was parts of the original music video, that just made me love this scene infinitely more than i already did
Burno nods in you general direction. Him and Arlene know your recognition......
1:17 pick up the pizzas of my life
Pizzas or pieces? 😆😆. Awesome comment.
This is where me and my friends broke down crying
Imagine singing this song in TWO different movies and knocking it out of the park each time!
the second time he has sung this song
love him so much
What an incredible piece of acting. You can see and feel how he's growing confidence with every phrase... Well deserved Golden Globe Award!
This is my favorite scene of the film, everything is tied up perfectly!
People in rehab: wait, are we gettin a free concert..?
Therapist: i think so....?
Like for Taron cause he did an amazing job
I couldn’t think of a better song to end this film on than one about perseverance and showcasing even after all these years Elton is still standing
God this movie is great. This scene is awesome and so is all of Eltons music! Definitely one of my favorite artists of all time!
In the movie Sing (2016): The man who voiced the singing gorilla also played as Elton John in Rocketman & Elton John sang I’m Still Standing. What a coincidence.
WHAT?! We didn't know that yet! Thanks for telling!
Lol in the movie Kingsman he also saved Elton John
The growth of Taron Egerton is great to watch. He's like another Leo DeCaprio. I look forward to every new thing he does. Hoping he does more Kingsman movies.
"Look at me now, coming back again" some reason I like that part it's just to smooth
This movie was so good. I really enjoyed myself watching this.
Never realized how emotional the lyrics were til this slow down version + Taron's performance. Beautiful
0:52 é definitivamente meu momento favorito, ele exalando o sentimento de estar livre da dependência e o fato de ter se determinado a recomeçar. Taron foi simplesmente incrível! 😍
This part made me cry...
My favirote film ever, brought me to tears.
I would love a "making of" to know how they put Taron in the original vid :O
It's not an insert trick; it's a full shot-by-shot recreation of the original video right down to the type of camera they filmed it on.
Recreating the vid
Arkham Creed I think what they did is have Taron stand in front of a screen projecting the original music video with Elton painted out, because I think for some shots taron looks a bit too sharp compare to the other actors so that’s what I suspected what they did.
@@bobewu9959 Yes! think the same. They couldn't have recreate the vid because of the fact that the dancers are the same, if it were a recreation, they should have being different
@@arkhamcreed4326 Oh so wrong. The dude wearing the black outfit with the black cap is Dancing with the Star's Bruno Tonllioni (spelling?). They just inserted Taron into wherever Elton was when he was with the dancers. The solo shots may have been recreations.
Taron Egerton did an amazing job remaking the songs in this movie, both versions from Elton or Taron are great, but I have to admit I kinda like I’m still standing by Taron a bit more than eltons version.
Agreed.
It kicks off on the high note but I think it really kicks in when he says "I'm feeling like a little kid" because he IS a little kid, forced to live a life he should never have been pushed into.
That's not "Elton's version". That's the original.
Michael R
Honestly I enjoyed this guy’s singing more then Elton. Jeez that definitely says something about this lad imo.
“And did you think this fool could never win? Well look at me yamma comin back again.”

I’m so glad I watched kingsmen, otherwise I would’ve missed out on the treasure trove of talent that is taron egarton
The intensity of the look on his face at 1:07 is just mindblowing
He does this so well omg
Taron did an outstanding job in this movie.
While the whole sequence is great, I particularly love the rapidfire montage of different glasses because there is just sheer joy emanating from him.
I absolutely love how they didnt even recreate the music video the STRAIGHT UP used the original, insanely creative choice for authenticity
