    Hi Nicole and Edden…. I have enjoyed many many van builds on youtube and I just don’t get why people don’t use the bed lift technology… it’s such a space saver allowing for much more build possibilities. Your DREAM build is BY FAR the best all around build I have seen thus far. The finish project is amazing. Nicole’s homey touches make a HUGE difference… and the design is awesome. Keep up the great work guys!

    Very helpful video! Thanks for this. To “square” the columns, I would attach the columns on one side top and bottom, and columns on the other side at top only, after carefully measuring (as you did). Assemble the drive assembly and the end rails, with rails at topmost position. When you lower the rails, the bottoms of the columns which are loose will be pulled into position. Put one screw in each column and then run it up and down to check for binding. When it’s all “smooth” put in all the rest of the screws.

      That's a great technique! Thanks for sharing! I guess as long as your walls are perfectly square then that should work perfectly :)

    I think the happy jack woulda been the only thing I left out in this build/layout simply because I would get annoyed not having a standing height in the mail area of the van… but the rest of the layout/design bathroom is probably the best I’ve seen.. and I’ve waited a lot of van tours!

      I thought that too about the happijac, but then I was in my friends van with a similar layout and realized it's not a big deal at all. It's very much a sitting space and you don't ever really need to stand there, you only stand in the kitchen and bathroom

    Dear Edden,
    I hope this message finds you well. I recently came across your incredible van conversion project and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the layout you have created. The attention to detail and the thoughtful design elements truly caught my eye. As someone who has been considering a van conversion for quite some time, I have been searching for the perfect layout that suits my needs, and yours seems to tick all the boxes. The way you have optimized the space and created a functional yet stylish interior is nothing short of remarkable. With that said, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to provide me with the measurements and possibly a blueprint of your layout. Having access to such information would be immensely helpful as I embark on my own van conversion journey. It would allow me to visualize the space and plan accordingly, ensuring that I can create a similar, well-designed interior. I understand that you have put a lot of time and effort into perfecting your van conversion, and I greatly respect your skills and expertise. I assure you that any information you could provide would be used solely for personal use and not for commercial purposes. I am simply an individual who appreciates your work and wishes to create a similar space for my own adventures. If you are able to share the measurements and blueprint, I would be extremely grateful. I understand if this is not possible due to proprietary reasons or other constraints, but I wanted to reach out and inquire nonetheless. Your work has inspired me, and I believe it would be a valuable resource in helping me bring my own van conversion dreams to life.
    Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I eagerly await your response and hope that we can connect further.
    Keep up the fantastic work!
    Warm regards,
    Zayden

    This was such a vital tutorial.. thank you so much!! 🙏 I have to ask, though, how did you not pinch the cables on the left side or your small wooden door rails? But most importantly, how did the happijac structure hold if you only drilled onto the pinewood and it doesn't touch the floor? You didn't drill it into the van/metal itself right?

    • @nicoleandedden
      @nicoleandedden  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Happy it was helpful! Not sure exactly what you mean about pinching the cables? You shouldn't pinch anything as long as you're careful when screwing the rails in that none of the cables aren't stuck behind it.
      The structure is very sturdy, as they're mounted to 3/4" baltic birch plywood that is secured to the van frame in at least 3 axes each.

      Yes, absolutely! You can make the bed as long as you want technically, as the drive shaft length arrives very long and you can cut it down to your desired length.
      The main thing to consider is if you are ok with the headroom under the bed while the bed is up. For us it was about 5'7". I'm 6 foot and didn't mind it at all, as its anyways a sitting area. But some people might care more about it.

    Great videos! Thank you for the education. What led you to decide on this type of Lippert Happijack bed (chain type) and not the Lippert Smart Bed (With Straps) that seems to have a simpler and easier installation?

    • @nicoleandedden
      @nicoleandedden  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much! The strap bed is much less stable, almost like hammock in my opinion. I wouldn't want it swaying and banging into the walls when down. Then again, I guess its a personal decision. I think it also has different weight limitations. But definitely haven't looked into it as much as I should have!

      Thank you @@nicoleandedden for your response. My van (Sprinter 3500 EXT) is coming in the next couple months and wanted to finalize some layout decisions. My plan is to have 2x5.75 ft aprox. area behind the wheel wells for the shower and toilet and last 2x5.75 ft aprox for the garage. Your videos have been of great help. All the best with your new build. Are you keeping the similar layout with the happijack in the front of the van.

    I assume you bought the 63" happijac system, or did the dealer allow you to custom size the width? Does it allow you to make it smaller than the 63"? Your bed is 56", so 63" is definitely overkill for you. I only saw a 42" and 63" option, when I went to buy, so I'm not really sure how to manage that because 63" wide is basically the absolute maximum width of my Ford Transit, so I don't think it would fit, but you somehow got yours to fit. Thanks. The video is great and mega helpful.

    • @nicoleandedden
      @nicoleandedden  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      width-wise you can get a thinner one and have the frame be as wide as you want. The system doesn't come with the bed frame so you have control over how wide you actually make it, it doesn't matter if the happijac width is thinner!

    Great job. 1 question, can the width of the frame be wider than the bed? My bed is 60 inches, but I need the frame to be 72 (there will be 6 inch cross members sticking out each side

    • @nicoleandedden
      @nicoleandedden  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I just wouldn't go too far out to the sides. But our bed frame was 56" wide and the happijac system was only 42" or 48" I believe.

    Do you just use wood screws to mount the frame? I’m mouthing the frame to 2x4 that are bolted into the van, but I feel like screws aren’t strong enough.

    • @nicoleandedden
      @nicoleandedden  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, surprisingly the screws are very sturdy. Of course, use quality screws and make sure to use all provided holes to secure it.
