    Really cool.
First one that I've seen with a drill.

Well done Bruce, a very innovative bed system, good to see different ideas for cargo trailer creations.

I can honestly say having used it daily for the last five consecutive weeks……..it works 100%!!!

very nice would like to seen the e tracks in also how you put the slots in the rebar and where the pin goes in to hold the bed up I think I will try this out thanks again

Hey thanks for asking on the bed. I got the E Track system and hardware from Princess Auto. They carry everything you’ll need. As for the rebar slot I used a 4” mini grinder to create the pass thru slot whereby both straps overlap to wrap the rebar. On the end of the rebar I welded a 4” plate and nut. In the plate I’ve 1/4” drilled holes, then thru the 2x8 I drilled the same in the bed up position where the plate lines up with the hole.
In the video I just made it look a bit more awkward, but in reality it goes up and down with ease. The trailer has been put away in a storage facility for the winter, but in the spring I’ll drag it home and do more videoing of details for you to make your build easier.
I can assure you, this redneck bed lift system is the easiest most cost efficient way imaginable. All the best for you and your build, safe travels too!!

Would've loved to see how you attached the straps to the ceiling. Otherwise thanks for the vid!

Hey Stacy. We’ve found out that all these TH-cam videos are about getting ideas, good and bad from others. Hopefully this has made a difference for you in a good way. Our trailer is away for the winter months and will surely do a show and tell for you in the spring. But to explain how I mounted it, I just used a self taping screw and washer thru the wall stud essentially pinching the strap to the wall. I trimmed it off with a piece of the pine I used on the ceiling. I’d suggest always using a construction adhesive to all fasteners too. I hope this helps you with your build. Have you made any videos of your build? You should!! All the best in your travels as well Stacy!!!

I like this setup, a pipe might be easier to work with for attaching the straps and fashioning a method of using a drill

Hiya @kennethrogers1129!! Thanks for the comment, and yes you are correct, a pipe could be used for sure. I was definitely inspired by Jim Ellison’s bed set up whereby he utilized a pipe. To give you my perspective, I wanted to use solid metal for the purpose of welding a 3/4” nut that I could attach a cordless drill to as the mechanical drive.
I do want to say that it works extremely well as we lowered and raised the bed daily for six weeks on our northern Yukon adventure last summer. Hopefully you can take out different ideas from the hundreds of videos on TH-cam like I did to make the one you want. I’d love to see how you do, maybe you can share some pictures? Anyways all the best, and safe travels my friend!!!

@@brucemclean934 yes sir will do, I have a toy hauler I use for hunting camp mostly. It’s About 16ft long set up with wet shower , kitchen area, one closet, and garage area where I keep the 4 wheeler and a generator with a fold down bunk on each side. Bunks are coming out being replaced with a larger bed that I will use the web straps to raise up and lower which will allow a good bit more usable space and camp comfort, thanks for your response and information. My only problem is designing a lock for the raised position for safety while on the road, the E brackets looks good but have another idea that is much simpler by having two guide rails on each side with a hole that a thick dowel can be inserted in , under the bed platform, to keep the bed from moving in the down position it will just rest on 2x4 supports.

@@kennethrogers1129 I see what you’re gunna fabricate. Sounds strong and positive in the locked position. Thanks for sharing your design too. If I had to do it over again, I’d have bought a 16’ trailer as you have. The 14’ falls just shy of perfect as believe it or not the 2’ would be a game changer. At the moment I’m restricted to one CanAm XMR Outlander as it’s sooooo large that I can only carry one quad inside. Not ideal, but first world problems for sure!! Check out Bill Ellison’s video he made for the mechanical bed, as I said he inspired my design. Keep me posted on your build.

I am proud to say that I am your 700th subscriber BruceyLeBruce:) Does that piece of rebar have a serial number on it because you said you got it from work and it looks familiar?

Makes more sense than any design I have seen. I have a 102 wide trailer but plan on doing a version like this with feet toward center, and a narrow walkway on each side.

Hiya @master6676. That trailer width size sounds a lot more comfortable than the 7’ width I have. How long a trailer is it you have? I’d like to see how you’ll stabilize the side to side movement? I’d like to see pictures of your build if you could. Check out Bill Ellison’s video whereby I got my inspiration for the build from. Maybe he can do the same for you!! All the best and safe travels and happy hunting my friend!!

How do you put a pin in to hold it up near the end of the video?

    • @brucemclean934
      @brucemclean934 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hiya BCB’s!!! I’ve got a video I just made detailing how the bed system including the pins are used. Stay tuned!! Do you have a channel yourselves? Or just building a similar bed? Let me know, as I’d like to see what you are planning. I can honestly say, I’d do nothing different if I had to do it again. Hope y’all enjoy!!!
