I have found a trick on loading large black powder shells with smokeless powder. To fill the space in the hulls I use packing peanuts made from corn Strach. They look like white cheese puffs and will melt instantly when put in water. you can roll them between your fingers then put them in the cartage hull on top of the powder and it will swell back out and fell the hull. when you seat your bullet it will compress the peanut even more. When you shoot the bullet the peanut will disintegrate and any parts of it will melt in the next rain. Give it a try works very well on big bore shells like 45-70 and up. I enjoy your videos. I love the old single shot rifles of the 1800s .

Steve, a great video as usual. I enjoy shooting my straight walled cartridge guns also, although I do not have a rolling block, yet!

Fun to watch and hear about the .25-25 Stevens. As always a great video. I have to ask if your range has a dress code? 🤣

LOL! Fair question, but no. Its a private gun club located between my office and home. So its convenient to slip out of work early and stop at the range on the way home 😀

@@steveblancard5566I definitely understand the satisfaction and fun of not taking the easy road when it come to antique firearms and obsolete cartridges.
