It was supposed to be new homeless housing in the San Fernando Valley. Why is it empty?

    Sad, but when you move those people into housing units they are going to trash those units just like they do in their tent cities. 99.999% of homeless are not temporarily hardship cases that just need a little help until they get back on their feet. Most are long term drug addicts or mentally ill people.

    • @SirenASMR_

    • @homemade6950

      There are plenty of housed ppl not formerly homeless who trash their property or the rented property. Homelessness does not equate to home upkeep or the desire to live in a clean environment.

    • @karenkoe7096
      @karenkoe7096 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree and furthermore, just looking at how they behave/live...you know why they are homeless. They all have relatives that they have worn out their welcome with their drug addiction and behavior. My sympathy goes out the the people that have to put up with them in their neighborhoods. Shuttering all the mental institutions has also played a large role in this situation.

    • @vikinghog
      @vikinghog หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@homemade6950 while that is true, all you have to do is watch the news or drive around town and you see that 99.99% of homeless trash their surroundings. Housed people also do that, but they are much less likely to do so if they are not alcoholics, drug addicts, or mentally ill like so many homeless are. Feeling sorry for them and giving them free housing is not going to solve the problems those people have no matter how much we wish it would. At least when we had tougher laws and penalties the rest of society was not so negatively impacted like it is now and there were a lot less people living on the streets in deplorable conditions.

      You're well trained to look at the problem from your neatly organized, brittle, temporary comfort.
      Guess what, you're next on the list of people targeted and you'll be classified the same. Can you still afford your insurance? Food? Basic repairs to your home? Can you still get to your job easily if car is out of service because of two month repair wait time? Fuel?
      Your security is ephemeral in this artificial construct of protecting home values, minimum home sizes, etc.

Provide a bus ride out, shared tents, porta potties, showers, peanut butter/balogna sandwiches & Kool Aide under covered eating areas. Their SS, Medicaid & Disability checks pay for their room & board. Of course---no booz or other drugs would be tolerated. And no bus rides back, unless it is to a halfway house/work-rehab program arrangement. If a person blows that, it`s back to the desert camp(s).

    Full time $20 an hour, if your lucky 40 hours a week does pay a $3,000-$3,500 rent. You need 4-5 people to live in one home. The infrastructure of the width of the residential streets can barely support 5x the cars needed to park. The city wasn't even built for this economy. These people don't see a way out, because what's the virtue of suffering to pay bills and never get ahead. THE PROBLEM IS COMMUNICATION. Ask yourself if rent was $700-850 a month give or take, you gotta live with some people. Connect "homeless with homeless" that want to get ahead. If they have a common goal, if they work together. You can save for, a car, a relationship, feeling safe getting sleep. Homeless people watch the news. Give them a number to call or address after each segment related to being homeless. They give out free PHONES.

    That guy is a scammer. Those homeless bums are there bc they are lazy. Ive worked in same area of my city which is full of them, since the 80's. Ive talked to bunches of them n most will tell u they love the lifestyle. The city should keep them moving..Ive also talked to the cops here, they tell you they cant do anything to them bc it costs the city lots time n money to prosecute. Giving free stuff is not the answer.. they, the homeless have to want to help themselves.

      I see Pennsylvania, rated # 10 in homelessness across the country (& nowhere near the southern border, so you can’t use that excuse, like you would for TX) has done a wonderful job fixing their problem. Big time Red state. Trump, who so OBVIOUSLY cares about the issue, won it in 2016 and 2020.
      Homelessness is in every state in America. Unfortunately, CA is the leading state but it’s because the reasons aren’t being addressed properly.

    Lock all the homeless in 1 part of the city and end all the foolishness. Control the people and the problem will disappear

      That's called "jail", and it's what we used to do out here but bleeding hearts decided it was mean, and now the property values everywhere are declining as a result - affecting everyone.
