    Building on a sandbar is a big mistake. Sandbars do get washed away.

      Yeah I was ordered out. Due to the building next door. Very minor damage. This building has 40 foot support beams in the ground every 12 ft. We lost our sea wall by the pool. Over reaction in my book. Smh

    Two hurricanes in less than a month. At this rate, many of Florida's beachfront communities will become uninsurable.

      It's a swamp always has been .It belongs to the alligators and sea animals. Bankers and greed put this sand box together like little leggos.
      So sad this happened they lost their homes ,savings , and some their lives.
      Some are seniors who are suffering.
      Prayers for all.🙏

    Should be a law passed that bans building on the beach. Should be a mile minimum set back for any structure. This doesn't just effect the people living there, this effects the whole state. They've destroyed the natural eco system that once protected the state from these storms. There used to be lush vegetation that provided a barrier to the water and wind. They plowed all that under and made a concrete desert. Like the song said, 'they paved paradise and put up a parking lot'. It's hideous. It's ugly. Time to let nature do it's thing and reclaim the land.

    There should be a law in all coastal areas, Florida in particular. The nearest a structure can be to the shoreline is 300 yds.
    The actual beach should be for everyone's enjoyment. This will stop tons of debris from Washing into the ocean during storms & the need for environmentally disastrous Beach nourishment programs & seawalls.

    • @arkman8109
      @arkman8109 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Look at old Florida beach pictures, they use to build a good way back from the beach.
      Greed changed all of that, city and county governments started calculating tax money they could collect.

    Build back the beach! Are you kidding me.What is it you don't understand? The ocean will destroy, every thing, eventually, in it's path.

    • @cocokai9661
      @cocokai9661 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! There should be a set back from the beach. It's insane to build there! There used to be natural protection from these storms. There was lush vegetation that provided a barrier to both wind and water and helped mitigate errosion. But they plowed all that under and build these hideous conrete deserts! The whole state is suffereing now that the natural beach has been destroyed. But it's all about profit, greed and corruption. They'll deem most of these 'safe' and the tax payers will foot most of the bill to go dredge tons and tons of sand from the ocean floor ( thereby destroying the natural eco system even more) to rebuild the 'beach' so these people can return to their beachfront lifestyles and when the next stoem hits, we'll be required to do it all over again! This world rewards stupidity and selfishness.

    The first real review is from someone that doesn't live there. That lady knew what to smell for and all those other people that have been residents that were interviewed by the news didn't want to believe their condos are destroyed, I get it. In disasters like these they really need mental health counselors staged and ready to write bakeract warrants for the people that think it's ok to be in a unsafe building because these people are not in their right minds. I've unfortunately have been homeless before and know what it feels like with no where to go so I understand why the people are in these condos. It seems like people think that because someone lives on the beach they have money but to be honest I think a lot of these people in Daytona are already living outside of their means in their beach house or old condo.

      Similar but not the same as West Coast and IAN, so many trailer homes with little to zero insurance. It's the comfort zone knowing that your neighbors Bill n Beth and Tim n Trish don't have insurance so why do we need it when what we really need is a new BBQ! Then the Big One hits and bam, your homeless less that concrete slab your house or double wide trailer sat on. I like the interview with this old fart who displayed a blank look on his face saying " I've never seen anything like this in my life, what do I do now " ....got a feeling thousands of owners are going to be saying this same thing as our storms increase to Cat 6 & 7 as predicted by NOAA National Hurricane Center Florida.

    Daytona and Ormond hold a big place in my heart. Hate to see it fail but building on the beach itself is the reson for it failing. Florida naturally used to get bigger but with all the building there is no natual way for the land to get bigger. With all the seawalls, roads, buildings, houses, and canals the army core built it will naturally only get smaller. Kind of like a curse the beach is the income so they built more just for more destruction of the natural landscape and ecosystem.
