@@danielmartin7838I left shortly after joining MANY years ago and never turned back. It always bothered me how Facebook exploded onto the scene and shortly after became an 'integral' part of nearly everyone's life. Even so far as that employers would require you to have a Facebook account.
Then, a few years after they got big, I was warning friends that their personal home and cell phone numbers were being displayed on their profile pages. With their full name and viewable by people that were not part of their friends lists. Several years after that it was made known that Facebook was consciously manipulating people and including them in social experimentation without their knowledge or consent. On multiple ocassions if I recall correctly.
Fast forward to the primary elections for Obama and Trump. They were actively influencing people's opinions on who to vote for as well.
I want nothing to do with any of it. And I believe they should be held accountable for their actions to the fullest extent.

We cant abdigate our parental duty to a platform that is designed for free movement of information. I am all for roasting Marc Zuckerberg (mostly just because he and his companies simply deserve scorn), but this grilling shows a lack of understanding on how the internet works. Like demanding Instagram for eg. can actually PREVENT a post from being posted. In reality they can only REACT to what has already been posted. Blaming this creep for our bad parenting is a bit of a witch hunt, to say the least.

SOME validity, @@aerescross9799. Only a very small amount. Yes, parents have to pay attention to what their kids are doing.
BUT... (And it's a really big one.)
I'm a GenX. The world is not what it was when I was a kid. There was no such thing as 'sexting' when I was a kid. It was something that kids literally could not do. (Well... You could use a Polaroid camera, maybe but... Not quite the same.)
The economy was definitely NOT what it is today. Things are MUCH harder for kids (that's anyone younger than me) now than they were when I was a kid. Parents (even in the remaining families with two parents) are completely stressed because there literally isn't time to do everything that needs done. No. It's not because they all insist on eating avocado toast and drinking $12 coffee every day. Parents who aren't already knowledgeable about tech (and that's the vast majority of them) don't really have time to learn about _all_ of the threats. And there are a hell of a lot of them.
Yes, I do know a pretty fair amount about tech. I made my kids take a programming class, not because I wanted them to be programmers but because they just have to have some idea of how these things work. I teach them about networking, too. These are things that ought to be being taught in the miserable excuse for an education system this country has. But they aren't.
You can't bitch at people for not knowing something they have never had any real opportunity to learn about. Hell, even the Catholics gave the natives that much credit. I guess it's a lot easier to stand on a high hill and spit on everyone than to actually expect sites like Twitch to stop allowing soft-core porn on a site for 13+ kids, huh?

Satanic CORPORATIONS are placing temptation in front of Those who
are not competent or mature enough or have the life experience to
      make logical decisions.
Even the Bible tells you that - so pay attention
Jeremiah 31:29-30: “In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have
eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.”
Also read Deuteronomy 24:16 “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin..”

Stop blaming the parents. Facebook has become the biggest social media app and is basically a utility these days. Almost everyone uses it and there has been a huge social set up to get young kids to use these platforms. Parents cant watch them every minute.
A company like this that has such a huge platform should be responsible and held accountable for not allowing this type of content.
You cant tell me they cant do it. They literally block and censor anyone who has the slightest conservative tint to their posts or anything that the liberal narrative doesn't like, so they should easily be able to block child porn.
I agree parents should take more care to stop their kids from using this media platform, as they obviously are a bunch of rich old pedophiles, but this hearing is about FB and THEIR responsibility in not being involved with criminal acts towards children.

@@robgilmour3147yeah TH-cam is garbage too now. It used to be about individual creators making unique content, now it’s just built for the website to make money from advertisers.
TH-cam is probably the least egregious form of social media though. Even though it’s censored as hell and also bans anything it doesn’t agree with, there’s hidden gems to be found here.
Having an account on TH-cam is also completely different from having a personal Facebook/Instagram account etc too though. I’ve not had any personal form of social media for at least 10 years at this point, I saw where it was heading a long time ago.

They didn't even allow him to explain what this popup is for.
Context matters... The algorithm that displays this warning popup is not 100% accurate, it is triggered extremely easily, that is why users have the option to continue viewing anyways. Because in the case that the algorithm misunderstood the activity, innocent people should still be able to view innocent content.
Also you can't just magically track the number of times people click a button unless there is a counter attached to it.
They could have added a counting function to it but at this point it would be too late so the best they could do is come up with a rough estimate.
