Yeah I mean it's not like it was when we were younger we had parents that actually cared for us unlike these parents they don't have time for their kids supposedly they work two jobs and obviously don't supervise their kids the way they're supposed to be supervised. This is disgusting and should not be allowed. Someone like Zuckerberg should be arrested for child pedophilia because he has that in his platform and he knows that his platform is dangerous but he's making money from it because it's addicting. Yes. People think that the government is responsible for all the problems in society. No, that’s not how it works!
Every citizen IS responsible. The fact united states has allowed so much degeneration to happen for this long and people haven’t done a thing speaks a lot about its citizens.

100%! The question is what steps have the government take to these companies, There are countries, institutions and individuals that they give sanctions or trade penalties to control situations. Why is it different to these companies that the government only just potray as doing something about it when they are enjoying large revenue in tax through these companies? How hypocrytic can they get. "Just put a sign that says Parental Giudance, SNLV, R18 or PGA will be fine, its up to the parents now".
Individuals are "blackballed" for being said are associated/supporting some individuals or institutions that have been declared anti-"something". Why cant the government put controls to these companies instead of parading some scripted public grilling? Lets not be fooled people!
My take is they just want Tiktok out coz they dont have control of negetive economical/political content over it, FB, Insta, e.t.c they can control, but they were brought here so it doesnt look like they are after tiktok.

TH-cam & twitter remove conservative comments but leave porn alone. Put the blame on the bullys, sort them out and make them accountable.

Ironically the people grilling him probably have greater power to affect the cause of the problem than the person being grilled.
Mark Zuckerberg can't make sure people aren't posting dark web links on his website, at least not easily. The people who ARE supposed to be policing that kind of thing are US federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies, you know, the guys we gave way too much power to in the name of keeping us safe from terrorists and political extremists, only to find out a bunch of them were the ones assisting terrorists and political extremists in order to push political agendas, some of which are scientifically, politically, and socially bad ideas in the first place. You know, the guys who are supposed to be accountable to legislators (senators and members of congress), and probably aren't even accountable to them anymore.

And again we need to be honest with ourselves this is not about protecting children because that is always the decree of despots and dictators this is solely about controlling the narrative and controlling how people get the narrative and Congress both left and right know that in order to control the narrative to control what people hear we must control social media

Actually that is incorrect although Social Media is roughly 95% a negative influence. The cause of the disintegration of The Empire, which we are all witnessing consciously or not, is “overextension”. The powers that be have allowed such a precariously indebted economy that the relationship between the petrodollar and the greenback will soon be disestablished. This will result in chaos and domestic existence as we have come to experience. The sad news is we may have only 5 or 6 years left when based on a thorough study of the incredible advances in Chinese scientific and economic achievements.

@@eddiealmaraz292 He is a part of the problem that you people are making up? These tech companies are not responsible for the stupid stuff people do or put on social media - plain and simple. There is only so much responsibility you can put on someone for having their platform ''abused''.
Parents can't be with children all the time, but they can still teach them how to internalize the things they see; how they take in and/or approach social media. With that in mind, Parents only sharing 'some of the blame' is ridiculous considering it's literally their one job as parents to guide their children. Do you know who is not responsible for your kids? Other people, let alone a tech company.

@@eddiealmaraz292 no its 100 percent the parents responsibility, its very clear social media makes it all too easy for kids to see harmful material and to be exposed easily to people out there that may want to harm them. Thats the way of the world today, before social media the world was different, the dangers were all outside your home and what did parents do, they didnt let them out alone at night unsupervised at a young age. Today the danger has expanded and parents are still in full control of their children or should be!. Facebook and tiktok wont ever go away and its practically impossible to monitor millions if not billions of accounts, conversations, posts etc and thats why they use AI to monitor it, there simply isn't enough time or man power to manually catch every offense committed online. Guess what, there is so much smut posted online even the AI cant catch it all.
With that in mind, all these parents holding up pictures of kids who may not be here any more for reasons that may be related to social media, where were those parents, every time you as a parent are away from your child who is on social media is a time they are exposed and you allow that to happen. I have a 13 year old, 10 year old and 6 year old, neither one of them are aware facebook exists, i didn't create an account for them which i bet many of these parents holding up pictures did for their children... my 13 year old has his own pc and mobile phone and they are used to speak to those they know, school friends and family, play games and use tools like google for education. My kids dont miss what they were never exposed to to begin with.
I struggle to understand why anybody else is to blame besides the parents to be brutally honest, your children are only exposed to what you allow them to be exposed to and its not cruel to keep them away from online dangers until they are old enough to understand how to avoid those dangers on their own. Some of ya'll got your kids dressed up like barbie dolls at the age of 8 and create profiles on facebook for them and then blame facebook for enabling disgusting animals to use their profiles for what they wish. Its time to get real. ''Oh but you cant watch over your kids 100 percent of the time'' WRONG, you as a parent have complete control of what your children have access to and when they have access to it, ofcourse as they get older that becomes more difficult to control but one would think at 16 plus they have the mindset to know the dangers of being online and how to avoid or skip past the harm but we got kids on there at 10 years old or less, parents that even create the profiles for them and then simply cant be bothered to monitor what they do on it, you do not need to be watching over them every minute of the day, but how many parents check at the end of the day who they have been talking to, what they have posted, are the pictures posted appropriate? parents are too lazy to do that is the problem. Parents are allowing their children to become addicted to social media because they themselves are addicted to social media.

So instead of taking toxic material off social media, you instead want parents to hover over their children 24/7. Not possible, and if it was it would severely strain the relationship between parent and child since the parents will be showing absolutely no trust in their child’s independence. The mental damage that would do to a child is almost as bad as the garbage on social media. I get the impression that you value child porn since you are trying to stop it from being taken down. You’d rather go after parents instead to protect your precious kiddy porn. That is sick beyond comprehension.

Platforms like Facebook and Instagram should be shut down. True friendships can be maintained without the need for social media. The obsession with watching others' lives online or posting about one's own activities is perplexing. I agree with comments that parents are responsible; that’s true, but zuck is also a monster and social media in general is mostly bad for all ages. Both can be true.

Just stop using social media, both sides are guilty, the parents of the children and the social media's existence, it's a result of human evolution, it's not a simple issue, it's like saying cars are evil because they are reason car accidents happen. Social media is a tool that can be good or bad depends on how you use it, the thing is most people suck themselves and don't control themselves in what they watch.

You're agreeing to something that doesn't even entirely true? It's not actually the parents' responsibility.
It's the real monsters on Instagram are responsible for those young girls' horrible incident. Those perpetrators who committed those crimes must not be BLAKEDDJ, but that's what the senator is doing, he's literally letting the sexual predators on social media... *BLAMELESS!*

@@user-is3yn7xr4c parents and social media are to blame! and c'mon these social media platforms for sure don't want your kids to experience horrible things on social media, it's bad for their business and image but to prevent billions of users at the same time from accessing certain thing or bad things with current technology do you think that's not difficult? it's like searching a needle in the football field.

Look up "False Dilemma" under logical fallacies. Don't buy this "Bipartisan" bs. We are about to lose freedom of speech on the Internet. We need to read the bill they are putting forward. And I like Hawley.

You mean the drama show? Nothing happened here other than talk. Yes, let your kids try out guns at age 8-9 but God forbid social media... very logical people.

The CEOs don’t care. They want to make money and do not care. Look no further than all these platforms for the way kids are lazy, unmotivated, without direction, and dumbed down by all the crap they all put out. Don’t tell me kids now a days are better than say kids in the 70s and 80s. We played sports, went to the park, and could actually carry conversations and had friends.

So do they want the government in their houses or not? I thought it was common knowledge to keep the government out of what goes on in these homes?

As much as I do not like when Corporations don't care or take advantage - what the US Senate is doing here is ridiculous. Asking questions, not expecting any answer and just blaming and playing this power game and puzzle. That is not right either and has no benefit. In fact, I would want to know how many of these Senators used ugly politics to get to where they are. How much money there is involved in the hidden closet and how much they toke on profit on the back of the citizen. They are not the good ones and if they would at least be open for a conversation rather than a dictatorial speech - perhaps we would blame less and talk more constructive of responsibilities and limitations on both sides.

Thank you Congress for finally getting unified on an issue of incredible national importance. We need to hold companies accountable for their placement of profit above human rights.

Congress will pass no laws because the big tech companies have enough members in the pockets, I'm sorry to say. This is a big show. It was satisfying though.

Unified? These are only two wanting more censorship and not blaming the people actually responsible for watching over their kids, generally speaking. Why don’t they pass legislation like they do with TV and radio? If they were serious, they would have done it long ago, specially that concerning the child abuse/pedophile issue.

They aren't unified: the Left wants the ability for govt to police social media comments (so that they can censor opponents)
