- Hot Dog Cheese Steaks | Chef Tom X All Things Barbecue
C'mon, we've all bent the rules occasionally, right? Possibly not this much, but it's all in the name of fun and flavor, so anything is worth a try. Chef Tom shows us how he watched something on Instagram that led him down this path to make Hot Dog Cheese Steaks. He admits "It's not a classic cheese steak, but it has cheese on it, and it has meat on it, and it makes me happy! It's also sure to please a crowd." See the full recipe below:
Directions
Step 1️⃣: Preheat the grill to 450ºF with the Iron Griddle installed over the firebox.
Step 2️⃣: Spray the griddle with duck fat, and add sliced onions. Season, then stir them, turning occasionally until softened and slightly browned around the edges.
Step 3️⃣: Spray the griddle with duck fat, then add the thinly sliced hot dogs. Cook until slightly charred on the edges, stirring to cook evenly.
Step 4️⃣: Mix the onions and hot dogs together, then divide into 4 equal portions. Melt 2 slices of cheese on each portion.
Step 5️⃣: Meanwhile, toast the buns in duck fat until slightly browned on the surface and soft on the inside.
Step 6️⃣: Slide each portion of the hot dog mixture onto a bun and top with hot sauce.

Convinced these recipes are coming from a super stoned Chef Tom out on the lake
Desperate times call for desperate measures
lmao
Most may think it’s a waste, but some fresh green Chile would be excellent!!!!!
Green chile goes on everything I thought.
Oh yeah!! Love Hatch green chilies on just about everything.
Genius. Here in the south, we might even do bologna cheesesteaks.
shoot yeah.. i had a fried bologna sandwich today...
Peel a hot dog? LOL! Needs bacon, right? Chopped fresh tomatos on top? This one could be as wild as you want. Chef Tom is inspiration!
I think you are on to something adding bacon on top is making it gourmet, I will try it out!
@@alterverse_ai I think Sonic used to offer chopped bacon on their hot dogs.
I’d have totally added some green peppers as well. Sounds really tasty.
As a Pennsylvanian it pains me to admit these actually look pretty damn good Chef Tom 😂😂😂
Won't find these at Pat's.
Funny because that was my first thought also!!
I'm a New Yorker and I was thinking that there's gonna be a few folks from Philly who might have a different opinion on these things. I think the issue comes from them being called Cheese Steaks. But I think we all agree with you that yes, they look good.
@@chrispile3878 pats is cheap tourist fast food garbage.
Literally was telling myself "I ain't mad at that" when you said it. Giving me great ideas. I did some quality beef hot dogs yesterday and planned on adding my BBQ Crown Peach beans to mine today - but this has my mind going!
Chef Tom, WOW! What a great take on the "cheese-steak". I love hot dogs and I love cheese-steak, this makes the best of both worlds. I like that it comes together so easy. I would say that "Coney Cheese Steak" is a hit!
This made me smile, Tom. I'll do it for a small family gathering. Yeah, there is something I'd like to see you cook-some stir fry similar to that served at the various Mongolian BBQ restaurants, complete with variations on the sweet and savory sauces.
A true pioneer
Love seeing all my favorite internet chefs support each other.
I’ve got buns and dogs to use up. These look so good!
Im going to try this...i seen it here first.
Yo congrats on your fitness Journey. You are looking Jacked my guy
I'm always looking for new ideas and you just gave me one. Thank you!
It's not what the ingredients are but how they're put together; good enough to trip my drool pumps !
Thanks Chef
Yeah - I'd definitely give that a try.
That looked delicious! I’m definitely trying it! 👍🏻
Really good looking. A perfect combination of tastes and textures. Cheers, Chef Tom! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
It’s a sandwich with hot dogs, cooked onions, and cheese. What’s the texture combination you’re talking about?
Those look great. Thanks buddy!
Making fantasies come true.
I am willing to go through the pain of my gall bladder to try this.
Looks fun !!
I'm going to have to try this one.
Add some grilled jalapeños, chopped bacon and fresh pico de gallo and make it a “Mexican Street Dog Cheesesteak”
Looks delicious
Ok that looks....
Disgustingly delicious.
Tube steak & cheese!
Omg. That looks so fricken good. Im gonna try it for sure
Looks good 👍
Damn. That is awesome ❤
Why do I watch these late at night...
Hot dogs must be the new smash burger. Been seeing a few different "viral" hot dog recipes now that summer's kicked off; hot dog burnt ends, hot dog grilled cheese and now hot dog cheesesteaks. I've tried a couple and I'm becoming convinced hot dogs obtained perfection at the corn dog, chili dog, Chicago dog or just mustard.
And some chili and I am game. I already do this for regular hot dogs and even make them into sandwiches.
If you throw the hot dogs in the freezer for a few minutes to firm up you could probably use a mandolin to slice them. That or just cut bologna in to strips.
Glad you are creating with things people can still afford now. It has to be hell on younger folks with a couple kids and starting wages.
Chef Tom I am going to try it but I will add some chillie beans, Thanks
Pretty similar to a chopped cheese I got today, except hotdog instead of hamburger, and there were griddled jalapenos... Because San Diego chopped cheese haha
Very nice video
Lol, but CT ... really!! And there are so many variations and spin-offs you could do with this..... practically endless. And, you are right ..... not even headcheese, souse, potted meat or chopped kidney is as classy as duck and hotdog .... lol. Nicely done, my man.
There can’t be anything wrong with this!
Just a heads up. On light poles in Philly there are already bounty posters up with your picture on them. Might rethink heading there for a while.
“Oh no”
Lmao! Look out! Philly phucks gonna lose their shit for no reason! 🤣🤣🤣
Good lookin recipe Tom! Keep em comin!
I'd throw the dogs and onions in a bowl of chili, add a little shredded cheese on top, and call it good.
I bet this would be 🔥 done the same way with some hot Italian sausage or chorizo
Chef Tom. When are you going to smoke a whole fish? Orange roughy or red snapper would be a good start.
If you’re gonna do hotdogs, you have to do a Sonora Dog. You can even use some of the ATBBQ fancy beans.
That sounds like a great recipe but I think I would add pickled jalapenos and garlic
Id drop a little 505 in the mix.
looks like a fried bologna sandwich
The easiest way to slice these hot dogs Tom,is leaving them chilled, then take out the mandolin and slice the hot dogs lengthwise that way before cooking them
Please have a Master Class we can sign up for and watch these live and in person.
To use a peeler on hot dog it's necessary to freeze the hot dogs for a little time. Put them on the freezer for 30-40 minutes and then you can use a vegetable peeler just fine. That's why he couldn't make it as the videos.
Any tips just contact me Chef Tom. 😂😂😂
This recipe more controversial than this year’s election! But hey, this looks a whole lot more fun!😂😂

No garlic aioli?
Tall test 12
No hot sauce... chili.
Needs chili
I'd definitely eat that. I'd call it white trash cheese steaks if I were making them lol
I see nothing wrong with this.... AT ALL!!!
I get the pellet grill is very versatile and easy but do you not use Kamado cooker any more? Haven’t seen a cook with it in a long time. I mean I really don’t see any advantages of the kamado either. Just curious. Thanks. That sammich screams white trash carnie food!
Nope.
damn, you guys hiring? i'll sell spatulas and pellets if i get a chance to eat some of this stuff sometimes.
NOT A CHEESE STEAK..
That's a cheese dog!
And I know that they are delicious, throw some bacon on them dogs, and you got a Texas Tommy
