This is honestly a breathe of fresh air for anyone looking to play a more modern Medieval campaign in Total War. Sure there are some kinks here and there but this is an amazing start to this mod and with new units, scripts and more factions I'm sure this has a very bright future ahead! Mods like this really itch my dreams of an official Medieval 3 Total War. Only thing 1177AD needs is more units but hopefully future updates will fill that gap soon.
btw about Poland. That times it was divided into several duchies: Greater Poland, Silesia, Lesser Poland and Mazovia. You can play duchy of Silesia in the mod!
Thanks a lot Termi for great and fast review of our new 1177 AD campaign! I will just add some more info: 1. One of the goals of new campaign is partition of late 12 century units from early. All mask and capelina helmets and most tunics will be removed from 1100 AD mod and stay only in 1177 AD. 2. Now Crusader factions have historically accurate units in 1100 AD campaign. Principality of Antioch uses Norman units, Kingdom of Jerusalem and County of Edessa use Frankish units. Most of Crusader units can be unlocked via "professional soldiery" reform. Also they are available from the beginning of 1177 AD campaign. 3. Campaign is still in beta, so a lot of things to be done like historical events (Third Crusade, sack of Constantinople, Mongol invasion etc), many new units (like turcopoles, Ibelin and Santiago knights) and more. Regards! 1100/1177 AD team.
Starsmil! thanks for an amazing campaign! I need to reload the order of my mods, because the cross wasn't rendering properly last time haha. Keep up the great work! Would you ever consider making a Sixth Crusade Campaign, it's just a diplomacy window between the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II and Ayyubid Sultan Al-Kamil. Bluff yourself having a massive army outside Jerusalem, he relents and gives you some cities and an extended peace deal. BOOM you win the game.
Wanted to add a BIG "thank you" to you and the entire 1100/11177 AD team! As a late comer to the world of "mods", I am regularly blown away by the quality of the mods being created for popular total war games such as Rome 2, Attila, Napoleon, etc. And all this is FREELY available! You folks deserve huge KUDOs for all the time and effort being put into developing these mods just out of the goodness of your hearts without being paid. Too bad that some of the big gaming companies such as CA don't sponsor your work as they are benefitting as well from the mods since people are still buying their vanilla games to run your mods on. Doesn't seem fair! Keep up the great work! :)
