- Welcome back, Mike! You've seen him solo in the PA28, but he made a big decision to change planes, so we will continue his training in the C172. This means getting to grips with a different plane with different characteristics, speeds and weights. Mike has not taken long at all to get comfortable.

Mike, et al, when starting steep turns, throw in a couple rolls of trim up, and add a little power just as you are turning 45*, this will NAIL your altitude, speed and make it soooo much easier to maintain through out the turns.

When Lewdix posts I am a happy and sleeping good at night. Thanks Lew! And @Mike, I suffered from the nose dropping on steeps and pulling hard on the yoke. In the Cessna 172 learning to use trim in steep turns helped me tremendously. Its a walk in the park with trim! Good to learn both though too. Try with trim.

Horizon reference! Seems like he doesnt have it, Wonderful teaching Lew. anyways, florida bumpy weather due to thermics it's a pain in the ass, literally. First flight over there went out of the airplane like if I 've been in a rollercoaster. Dont know if you had, doesnt seem so but worth the mention hahahha.

Too bad the Piper 180 doesn't have two doors or I would have gone that way but it doesn't so I didnt! :o) Wonder why everything is redundant in an airplane except for the emergency exit in a Piper?!!

I think Mike will solo next flight. Seems to be a lot more at ease in the Cessna which helps with confidence. Also has the simulator to practice those perfect landings 😀.

“I didn’t have to take a boating course in order to fly, do you have a plane that requires one?” Hahaha no but he feels more comfortable so I’m happy to continue in the 172 with him.
@@LewDixAviation what were your thoughts when he said he was more familiar because of the simulator. That was how I felt at the beginning of my training as well, because X-Plane comes with the 172 by default. But then it wasn't very long into my training where I felt much more comfortable in the Cherokee.
