Wonderful video. Just a suggestion. You could also use a 1/4" universal joint on the extension for easier access. I had to learn this the hard way many years ago. I've bought so many tools over the years that I thought I would only use once, only to use them over and over again. Also, some long needle nose pliers can make removing the wiring harness and/or clips easier. I've even used hose pliers in different sizes to do the same thing. Oh yeah, get a "dentist mirror" with a telescoping rod and universal joint about 2" or 3" in diameter (not expensive - from an auto parts store or online) to use with a flashlight for those impossible to see areas. None of these tools are expensive.
So this video was so helpful to me. I have an SLK 320 but all the videos for MB show other models that are slightly different. This video of a Crossfire shows the same layout of my SLK of course, and so the true location and better yet, it cured me of the idea of trying to release the electronics wire first!! I now see I have to not see that is I have to feel for the bolt on the underside of the sensor piece. My SLK does indeed have a heat shield so this will be a bit tight but I think now, armed with the best method for my model, I can do it! I will update soon. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
thank you, thank you. excellent vid explaning this process. I'm so frustrated with my 2004 that I am almost will to just give it away lol. Just so many "won't start" problems and issues with the car.
Well thank you very much I have a 2004 slk 32 after several searches I narrowed the problem down to the k40 relay or the cps The car would alway start cold the after a while would just shut off . Then 20-30 minutes would start again! People are not very nice when you stall in four lane traffic!!! Unable to get in the shop i watched your video a couple of time and i am glad to say I was able to do this myself. You’re awesome for doing this video I hope this helps others
Awww thank you. 🙃🙃 Yeah I do most everything myself, but my E55 build is getting so complex I've had to hire people to do a few things. Like fab work and heads. I can do pretty much anything else, just takes time.
That's just amazing music to my ears you have no idea. Mercedes does get a tad bit complicated and complex that's when you step away a few and come back fresh minded and knock it out. I'm positive that when it's all said and done you'll have a monster of an E55. I did want to personally tell you guys I had a great time at the dragon and look forward to 2022, hopefully by then I'll have that same 5.5 supercharged engine in my Xfire. Right now I'm dragging feet on the engine mounts lol and trying to figure out my next wrap color
It's easier to remove crank sensor with 2 small heat shields removed. Mine rattled on spring start up awhile back, removed cam, crank sensor cleaned them up, presto. Yeah always replace heat shields. Clean rinse dry KN filters twice a year for good throttle response, and re oil !
Just watched your video, very informative and easy to follow. Would like your opinion on an alternator replacement. Checked with the dealer today, service charge to replace alternator: $84+tax ... very good. Cost of alternator from dealer: $1,317+... HOLY SH**! Any recommendations on a good alternator, brand, etc...? Appreciate your opinion. Thanks!
@@glorycedeno9046Thanks for the advice, but I actually purchased a factory replacement through FCP Euro for $287 last year (June) on the link Crossfirediva provided.
Any advise? Replaced crank shaft sensor now it just starts and dies, threw map code replaced it as well. Still just starts and dies? Any help I’d appreciated! Before I started replacing sensors car ran and drove fine but would shut off at full throttle.
Could be the skreem with a faulty key reading. Sometimes causes the car to start but then will die in 3secs or so. Mine died and had some no crank no starts. I replaced the RCm (relay control module), very easy, and it fixed the starting problems. For now.

That's definitely the RCM, don't buy a new one just resolder the board on the 3-weak points
I had no idea when I met you that you did your own work!!! Much much much respect!!

I just changed mine this morning. So little room to maneuver back there. But it fixed my car, so thanks for the information.
Getting to watch the Crossfire Diva is more than a great reason to have a Crossfire!!! U Go Girl!!!
The Diva can change auto parts dressed like a princess. Gotta love the Diva.

What code came up to let you know it was a crankshaft sensor? Was it P0335 and was the car turning off while driving?
Would you suggest changing this as a precaution?
She's a awesome mechanic
thanks much! going to proactively replace mine now!

This a very late response.... but you can try having your alternator or starter rebuild, it will save u a bundle 🥰

Cam sensor, right front of engine, easy peasy to get at. Clean air filters. Didja solder RCM 3 points ? Check for loose fuse boxes.

Hey diva! I need tutorial for how to remove trans, please! :(
