The one very large negative for me about spending any extended time in SE Asia is the extreme heat & humidity. I was in Manila on business in 2014 and the heat and dew point were unbearable during the day and only slightly improved after sunset. And I spent 4 years in Naples, Fl year round so I had some experience with hot weather, but nothing like where you are. I know there are some people who can adapt to that kind of heat, but for me it was almost suffocating.....good luck in Bangkok!

My wife is Chinese from Vietnam and she introduced me to the banh mi sandwiches amongst many other great Vietnamese food! I love the bread that they make the sandwiches on! You’re 1000% correct about the crunch on the outside and soft on the inside! 👍

@@GreenyTravels we live in Florida now and we plan on moving to Thailand in two years when she can start collecting SS too. She wants to check out the Chinatown in Bangkok first. We’ve heard so many good things about it. She has good memories of going to the night market in Saigon before her family left there after the fall of Saigon in 1975! Her family were one of the first people picked up by a cargo ship in international waters when they left as refugees. She has quite the story on how she came to the USA!

When I lived in NYC, I used to have Costa Rican coffee shipped to me monthly, directly from the grower/roaster. Great coffee!

Your move makes lots of sense. Starting this winter, I plan to alternate 6 months in Thailand (winter) / 6 months in Canada (summer), but have been struggling with where to be based in Thailand: Bangkok or Pattaya (Pratumnak). I'm almost now sure I want to be in Bangkok (because it is so crazy and interesting with so many different types of people), then do shorter trips to Pattaya, Koh Samui or Chiang Mai for variety. Could never be bored in Bangkok! Looking forward to what you find.

I love Bangkok but it’s going to be blazing hot. Suggest skytrain to most aircon malls. Walk around outside once it cools down in the evenings. Have fun!

That's a helluva spot... that condo. I'm from Philly, we have the cheesesteak. I thought it would be cool to setup a sandwich shop in Thailand (Pattaya)... hah but I was advised against it by a native. I've never had a real bahn mi (and we have plenty of Viet people/food here), but I've made my own. The prices of those bahn mi are insane compared to what we're paying today for steaks and hoagies (read: heroes/subs) for $13-20. For the most expensive combo (set) over there all we get is a lousy struggle sandwich.

I too love my visits to Bangkok. Try to stay 2-4 weeks each time just to experience living there. Always something exiting going on. I can only take so much of Pattaya/Vegas and could never live there full time (even in Jomtien).

I love getting to Bangkok too, but only on the weekends because 8 to 5ers are off and many come to Pattaya. So the weekends are when I get away from Pattaya. I buy a day pass for the BTS and you aren’t packed in like sardines and run up and down town and explore.

JJ's is awesome for sure. Had a Toyota Fortuner when I lived in Thailand, you're correct about the book thing. Basic vehicle servicing tends to be quite efficient and fairly priced in Thailand even from the main dealer. Did they put back the used parts in your trunk for you to inspect afterwards? Thought it was good but a little overkill. If the sales person didnt want to be on the video, no problem, you can make content even without them I'm sure. I agree Bangkok is a never ending exploration if you would like it to be, though might you be on the look out for a few dates while you are there? 😎 Enjoy your change of scenery, stay safe.

@@GreenyTravelsit’s not the heat that bothers me but the humidity is the problem, over there. We were in Las Vegas in late July and it was over 100+ but dry. So take your pick an oven or steam bath, 🤣
Spent 6 weeks in Jomtien recently..Love it..planning a longer stay in January..Met a lot of friendly expats at their local hangouts..Love the highrises with lots of amenities

Jomtien is terrific. I just moved here from The States. I don't ever want to go back!
Jomtien is close to the action, but *not too close.* Near enough to the beach and all the food, drink & entertainment that you could ever need. If you don't wanna run to Pattaya. But easy peasy to catch that baht bus on 2nd Road if that's your hankering. Jomtien Night Market has everything you could ever want and there is constantly something happening on the beach, which is wonderfully kept.

IMO Pattya is great to live if you are married but if you are single and want to stay a decent person in the long run its horrible lol. I would rather live in a normal city and visit the fun city but that is just me.

If never live in a condo over 5 to 9 floors. They suck riding elevators. Started at the edge once, great roof top pool but the crowds didn't make it fun. I'm in Hua Hin now, just came from jomtiem Too crowded for me. Hua Hin if so much better. Great community. Beaches. Everything.
I like Hua Hin too. Where I live is 7 floors. No issues here
i'll probably move to Hua Hin when my lease in Jomtien expires. Slower pace, no traffic, no Songkran splashing, infinite quiet beach, huge night market, fewer noisy bars. The Pismo Beach of Thailand. Happy expat faces
My condo is on the second floor with a maximum of 8 floors per building and 2 elevators in central Pattaya.
Hua hin is way too quiet and dead, went for 3 nights with the missus, we left after 2
@KingShaf7 I live on the 2nd floor of eight in Jomtien. I like quiet and dead- I don't drink. I lived in hotels in Central Pattaya three months while I was looking for condos
My only complaint about Hua Hin is that they don't have a boardwalk that you can walk along and enjoy viewing the beach and the water like they have in Pattaya or Jomtien.
In fact, until you find one of the paths that lead between the buildings to the beach, you won't even know that it's there.

Good quality professional women in Bangkok.😊😊. I will keep my condo for at least 2 more years and keep it as my base. If I move anywhere permanently it would probably be Samui. Love that place!!
