    in rc frames with infills, interface is very important aspect, how can we use the interface property?

      For modeling the interface, your model should be very detailed. You should refer to some research paper in this area.

      Yes, you can do pushover analysis of masonry structure. I would suggest you to read some latest research papers on this work. The response of masonry is very difficult to model accurately.

    I’m confused about the material part for the strut, why was the material not defined for strut as per the masonry data’s ? won’t the Material matter for stiffness or something?

    • @CivilSAC

      There are different methods to consider the opening in the infill. You can apply a modification factor for the size of opening. I will recommend you to refer some research papers on this topic to get the clear understanding of this.

    why we don't take 2 diagoals ( x bracing )?

    • @CivilSAC
      @CivilSAC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can take X bracing also as there are many types of bracing configurations like X, V, Chevron, K, etc.

    • @aymanramadan3235
      @aymanramadan3235 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CivilSAC thank you, usually madonry infill walls work in compression ( axial forces), in a 3D building, we cannot predict the direction of earthquake, so it is better to take x brace. Am i right?

    • @CivilSAC
      @CivilSAC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aymanramadan3235 Yes, you cannot predict the direction of the eartquake.
      If you doing nonlinear time history analysis, then it is good to consider equivalent struct in an X configuration. For 3D analysis, you should also consider the out-of-plane bending of masonry infill panels which is a little bit difficult to model. I hope this helps.

    • @CivilSAC

    When we have to consider both direction Eq forces.. then hw strut will be model.. is like cross bracing .. ?

    • @CivilSAC
      @CivilSAC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will have to prepare a 3D model to analyze for the earthquake in both directions.
      Cross bracing will be helpful if you doing time history analysis.
